In a well written, well documented book Tom Hoopes brings some clarity and background to the words and actions of Pope Francis. A figure of rock-star status for some and heretic status for a few, this truly modern Pope is given the treatment he (and we) deserve. The author takes us through the things that Francis has done and said (and importantly, what he has NOT done or said), and puts them into context with the Pope's personal history, scholarship, and leadership. What's more Hoopes does so in a well organized, accessible, readable fashion. For Catholics and Non, this is a book that helps us to understand this often misinterpreted great-communicator.
