Every rune tells a different story and this book guides you on how to get started using runes to confirm your personality traits, reveal virtues you need to develop, and discover things about your future. I'm no fortune-teller by any stretch of the imagination but as a beginner I did learn a lot about the different types of runes. I was particularly interested in learning about the Scandinavian runes that have been found in parts of my home state of Minnesota. The book was very comprehensive and included suggested pronunciations as well as the rune numbers and key words to help you remember!
Thanks to Llewellyn and Netgalley for the review copy!

For such a small book, the author covers a lot of information. She begins with a description of runes followed by the history and different types of runes. I agree with her suggestion to study one rune at a time to avoid confusion and keep a rune journal. She suggests runic dance or yoga and includes a bread recipe with an apple alternative for a special ritual.
Ms. Chauran provides a very thorough interpretation of patterns in a runecast. She describes using Finn’s Window which for me is associated with the Ogham. I love her thought that a rune reading is more like a choose your own adventure book than a crossword puzzle. There are many interpretations included based on the context of the query which is very helpful to beginners. I actually wish I had a list like this when I was learning the runic systems. The exercises at the end of the book are great ways to work closely with the runes. This is a great book for a beginner or anyone that would like to see another perspective.
