Set in Queensland during WWII and in the (sort of) present, this is the story of two sisters- Vivian and Rose- who fall in love with the same man. It's lush, there's drama, there's secrets, and all in all it's a good read, especially if you, like me are less familiar with life in Australia during WWII. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I have mixed feelings about Castle of Dreams. The story was a blend of past and present, with one generation searching for information about a previous. It's a story about lives and loves during WWII. It's a story of regrets, choices, and their impact on others. For me, the story and characters didn't pull me in. This was partly because I thought the choices made by some characters were selfish, with minimal thought for the impact on those around them. I did enjoy the ending.

I enjoyed this book, even though it was a little slow at times and definitely a bit predictable. I liked all the characters, especially the ones in the present story. It's not the best World War II historical fiction I've ever read, but I liked that it was a little different, as it was based in Australia.
