I'm glad this book came with a warning by the time I got around to reading it. For that reason alone, I didn't pick it up.

The Many started out pretty strong and then just went off the rails and weird. I skimmed through to the end and I hate a cliffhanger. Not a fan.

Nathan Field is an author that I found on NetGalley. There is a twist in every novel and it's always shocking. I can't wait to read every single one of his books.

I couldn’t make it to the end. Started with a bang and such a promising concept but I felt it lost its way in the middle section and I was struggling to continue as the pace slowed. I had a look at some other reviews which mentioned the end so I went back to find out what happened. But the ending was a huge sudden cliffhanger which was even more annoying. Not for me, thanks.

For readers who are dyed-in-the-wool Conspiracy Theorists, this Series will seriously blow your mind. There is a plethora of Suspense and tension, fraught with danger, violence, and human Evil. The characters are excellently delineated, and I appreciated that there are two protagonists, initially bound by tragedy, but as the story unfolds, they individually and collectively discover that at least one is bound even more tautly to the evil Conspiracy. I also appreciated how the author so subtly unfolds the suggestion of the widespread nature of this evil, rather than bludgeoning the reader with information. Discovering for the first time that this is not just a few individuals was both enlightening and frightening. It's much easier to stop a few than to battle an invisible organized amoeba like The Many.

The entire plot of the book was unlike anything I have read before. A+ for originality. This was a story that followed Karl, who's sister started acting strange after coming home from a date. She later kills herself. Karl ends up meeting someone who had a similar experience with her mom. The two work together to figure out exactly what is going on.

This was a fast paced book with an entirely original premise. I would gladly read another Nathan Field book in the future.

The Many started excellently. Field kept the mystery of what happened just out of reach until the 3rd act, but that's when things started to turn sour. The characters Isobel and Stacey are well thought out characters with very distinct voices. Even Stacey's brother was well written and the perfect amount of involved.

My only complaint was the third act and the ending. It was like a cheesy, bad episode of The Twilight Zone.

Copy kindly received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Whoa. This book had me hooked right from the word go. It's been on my shelf for ages, and I don't know why I've waited so long to read it.

Karl knows something is off with his sister after her one night stand/dating app date, but he can't work out exactly what it is. All hell breaks loose culminating in a totally unexpected event.

We then meet Dawn who experiences a similar issue with her mother, and the story continues to snowball and evolve as we try, along with Karl and Dawn, to work out what on earth is going on, and who the culprits are.

There are so many twists and turns in this that had me on the edge of my seat and determined to get to the end. A tonne of huge events happen at the end, and just when I think we may have some answers, more things happen. Whilst this book doesn't end with a cliffhanger, it's left open for a continuation, and I definitely look forward to reading more, if this series is continued.

Twisted, shocking and thrilling, this one will keep you hanging for more. Would recommend.

Stacey goes on a date one night and returns a different person, her brother Karl is determined to uncover what happened that night. Dawn’s mother Isobel has a similar experience, returning from her date traumatised. Seeking advice from a detective McElroy, Dawn and Karl end up working together to learn the truth about what happened to their respective relatives. There are moments of pure creepiness, the scene for horror is set exceedingly well.

Started out promising but last me about halfway thru. By the end it it was way out of control and I just couldnt keep a grasp on it. I guess if I had not taken it so seriously it could have been a fun read so I hate to take stars off for that. Ultimately, it was disappointing

Karl notices the difference in his sister right away. She's been so strange since her date with the rich ophthalmologist she met via an online dating site. The changes in Stacey escalate into violence. In another part of town, Dawn's mother, Isobel, is preparing for an evening out with a woman who contacted her through the same site. Isobel returns home the morning after, but she, too, isn't acting like herself. Though Karl and Dawn don't initially even know each other, they are soon to meet and become entwined in the pursuit of those they hold responsible for what has happened to Karl's sister and Isobel's mother. NO SPOILERS.

The subject matter and the narrative style in this story are both seriously creepy. I definitely felt the tension and suspense as Karl and Dawn try to find answers. There's lots of blood and gore along with the action scenes. A bit of suspension of disbelief may be required, but it was a fun and absorbing read that kept me hooked so I had to read it all in one sitting. I'm seriously lucky because I have the second book in the planned trilogy ready to open up on my Kindle so I can continue immediately. That said, I don't know how I'll stand it waiting for the finale! I'm a bit at a loss to put this book in a genre category as it contains elements of a thriller as well as a bit of sci-fi in a way. I look forward to reading other reviews though I've seen some that didn't seem to have the same takeaway from the book as I have. I enjoyed it, probably because I had no preconceived notions and it was a bit different to what I've been reading lately.

Thank you to NetGalley and Silvermac Publishing for the e-book ARC to read and review. I see this was published in 2016 and I apologize for only getting to it now. On to ANCESTRAL...

Karl and Dawn get in an investigation to find out the source of madness as to good to be true is born out on just one date. I enjoyed the story very much.

Karl's sister comes home from a date with a dramatic personality shift. Karl thinks she must have been raped and is repressing the memory. Dawn's mother comes home from a date with a dramatic personality shift and loses all interest in her 17 year old daughter, Dawn. Through these two story lines, a conspiracy begins to evolve. At this point I was ready to roll my eyes. PLEASE don't let it be aliens or some mental control or something like that! Thankfully there was a much more sound reason for the changes and Karl and Dawn team up to head out and figure out what is going on. This is the first book in a trilogy and while I enjoyed this book, I was not captivated by the action, the characters, or the premise and I do not think I will continue to read the series. Though I do expect many will enjoy it.

I was given the opportunity, via NetGalley, to read an electronic copy of The Many. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinions are my own.

After a blind date, Karl's sister Stacey undergoes a personality change. Will the sister he loves be lost to Karl forever?

After Dawn's mother Isobel goes on a blind date, she changes in such a way that her daughter barely recognizes her. What can Dawn do to get back the mother she loves?

Will Dawn and Karl be able to put the pieces of the puzzle together and find the answers they seek?

The Many had an interesting premise that the author failed to capitalize upon. There was no building of suspense, leaving this thriller to fall flat around the middle of the story. The writing itself was rough, with the choppiness halting the flow of the novel. The dialogue between the characters was stilted at times, giving the reader the feeling that the characters were two dimensional. The Many was a miss for me, as it just did not stand out in a field of well crafted characters and plots in other psychological thrillers.

Quite the interesting premise. Very much intrigued me right from the get go. Blind dates are scary enough but to go on one just to come back a completely different person is outrageous!! A conspirital psychological thriller for the masses. I think this would make a fantastic movie and someone should really look into this.

The page was steady - not too fast and not too slow.. but the ending? BOOM... uh, that's it?? WHY??? Was the cliffhanger necessary and is there another one coming? I need answers!!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I requested this book. I was very happily surprised to really enjoy it! I'm now on the look out for anything else by this author. Thank you Netgalley!
