Karl is out of work and money. He is staying at his sister's (Stacy) apartment until he finds work. Stacy is different after going out on a blind date. She arrives home late in the morning, missing work and doesn't act like her normal self. When Karl asks what happen on your date, she replies that he has always been wanting to have sex with her. Then she says it is time for you to move out now. He leaves and ends up working as a stock boy. When he goes home for Christian, it will be a Christmas he won't forget. When he meets another person who has had the same experience but with her mother, the two get together to solve the puzzle of why the sister and the mother died.

I found the novel fascinating. It is definitely a different story plot that I didn't expect. I was never bored reading this as I found myself being surprise at the next twist or turn the author wrote. The author did a good job writing this story, but it may not be for everyone as the ending is scarey and leads you to wonder. This is a psychological thriller horror nove. It should be read by adults only due to its unnerving way things that happen.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to have read this great read.  The book starts innocently with a young girl going on a date, but she’s not quite the same when she comes back... her brother starts to investigate and that sets the tone of the book – scary and making the reader feel uneasy!
Scary and worthwhile read.

THE MANY'S beginning was pretty good and hooked me right away. I loved the way it started out all high tension-y with a first date that I just knew was going to go crazy badly. The problem with this story was that the middle was difficult to get through, but I didn't skim it in case I missed something important. Luckily, the last third of the book picked up momentum again.

THE MANY begins with Stacey, who's out on a first date with a doctor. At first he seems like the man of her dreams, but soon his knowledge of details of her life that she never told him creep her out and cause her to want the date to end early. The next day, Stacey's brother, Karl, notices she isn't acting like herself.

We are then introduced to Isobel and her daughter, Dawn. Isobel also goes on a date with someone who seems to be out of her league, this time a woman. Like Stacey, Dawn notices her mother comes back from the date not quite right. The similarities between Stacey and Isobel's dates are creepy, and both Karl and Dawn know instinctively that something is very wrong. They end up joining forces to investigate what's going on.

I was glued to my Kindle! Field knows how to keep his audience in suspense from the beginning and at the end, but the plot in the middle drags on and could have been fleshed out better. I kept reading, however, because I HAD to find out what was going to happen next. I didn't want to miss something important.

What terrified me the most about THE MANY was how the characters changed overnight, yet only their closest loved ones could tell the difference in them. Also, no one else really took Dawn and Karl's concerns seriously.

What I loved most is that vital questions about human behavior are explored. Without giving any of the plot away, I will just say it'll have you thinking about the factors that go into how we as a society decide which human behaviors are acceptable or not acceptable. And who has the right to decide which is which?

I'm SO excited a sequel is coming out. While this book has an ending without a cliffhanger, there is definitely room for more story to be told, and I'll be there for sure.

Trigger warning: this book contains a disturbing scene.

I DNF this book because I can’t take it anymore. I love psychological thriller and read Stephen King’s books but this is so scary.

The story was divided into 3 stories. One is about Karl and Stacey – they’re brothers and sisters. When Stacey had a date (who she met online) – things started to act bizarre. Second is about Isobel and Dawn. Just like Stacey’s story, Isobel acted strange after the date and the result she got killed.

On the third story is about how Dawn and Karl met with the help of the Detective together they find answers the real truth behind this.

Honestly, I don’t have enough words how to describe this book aside from the fact that this is frightening.

Well this horror story certainly starts out creating a real sense of unease and menace. Karl notices that after a date his sister does not seem to be the same. Sure that something untoward happened to her, he confronts her - only for her to attack his motivations in the worst possible way.

His sister seems to have become infected and warped with something both defiling and evil. What can it be? The only clue we have at the beginning is the statement from his sister that she realised there was something sinister about his date when he asked her about who.was feeding her cat. When she hadn't mentioned her cat......

Nothing good emerges from this. To avenge his sister Karl turns sleuth and discovers that there are other casualties, all of whom met others through internet dating sites.

He is to find that there is a network of malignant abusers at work in the world far greater than he imagined and that there is no guarantee his allies are not part of it.

This is a a kind of slasher/paranoia tale and it looks as though more sequels to this are planned. So The Many may not be entirely standalone.....

What works most for me is that Field has been good at upping the ante in terms of the paranoia. In some ways, the 'slasher-out-to-get-you' element of faceless Bad Guys gets a little Ott for my taste - but after all, what is a 21St Century equivalent of a penny dreadful without a little schlock here and ther

This book was absolutely creepy and disturbing and definitely not for children. The plot was absolutely amazing and it was very written. If this book had been a movie I would've left the theater terrified without finding out the ending. The ending itself gave me chills! This is not a story I will forget anytime soon.

I considered bailing on this novel for about the first 30 pages. The characters were shallowly drawn, unlikable, and the plot wasn't really doing anything. I'm glad I held out, though, because after that first chunk this story took a super creepy turn, and I read the rest of it in one sitting. This novel will make you never want to try online dating. Ever. It will also make you question whether or not you really know the people with whom you share your house and your life. But most importantly, it will lead you to check your closets for men who don't have faces. If you can handle reading about all of those things, I highly recommend this book. Just push through those first 30 pages, and I promise that the rest is worth it.

It took me a while to read this book. I received the eARC in January but the copy that I got had very tiny fonts. It also didn’t have a cover so it just started from Chapter 1 which didn’t appeal to me. I usually struggle with tiny fonts and have to rotate my tablet so as to read such books which bothers me. Anyway, this is why it took me a while to read the book but once I got started, it took only took one Saturday morning to get through it.

The story begins with Stacey’s date with a certain handsome, successful doctor. The date seems to go well until the two decide to go home. Something happened on the way but as readers, we don’t get to know what it was as this is part of the book’s mystery. The only thing that is evident is that Stacey was a changed woman when she went home the next day. Her behavior was so bizarre especially the things she said to/about her brother. Her actions towards her family made me uncomfortable. On the other hand, there is Karl, Stacey’s younger brother, who lives with her. He is confused by his sister’s sudden change and is determined to find answers.

There are other characters that go through similar experiences like Stacey/Karl after going on dates with people that they met from online dating sites. It is evident that the date nights are changing the singles. Throughout the book I kept trying to guess what happened to them. I felt sorry for the loved ones who were left baffled. I mean, one day your loved one goes out on a date and then comes back a completely different person? What was even more intriguing was the fact that the singles don’t remember what happened to them so nobody has the answers (or so it seems).

I don’t know how to categorize this book. At first I thought it was a thriller but it does border on being a horror story too. Perhaps a mixed-genre. I feel like it will appeal more to fans of horror though. The themes are a bit too dark. The book ends with a cliffhanger so there maybe a second book. I found this to be an unsettling read but I am curious enough to read the second book in the series.

I'm a huge fan of the psychological thriller genre so when I read the synopsis of "The Many" I was intrigued. Maybe this wouldn't be an average who done it mystery. What I got, however, did not live up to my expectations. The main characters were young but the decisions they made were not believable. I made it a little over halfway through and so many secondary characters were being thrown in and then quickly removed from the story I started to get slightly annoyed. The plot meandered and started to drag. If it wasn't for wanting the mystery revealed I would have DNF'd at 70%. Once the "ending" was revealed I was even more disappointed. Great idea that could have gone so many interesting ways and just fell flat here.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Silvermac Publishing for the ARC. That being said, the lack of editing here was disappointing, even for an ARC. My main complaint was the lack of chapter breaks. It was very jarring and took me out of the story every time I had to mentally stop once I figured out a break had even occurred.

Two stars for the mystery.

This thriller kept my attention because I kept wanting to find out what happened next. This isn't the usual type of book that I read, so it did freak me out a bit. But in a good way, if that is possible

Thank you NetGallery for the opportunity to read The Many. This is suspenseful thriller, comtemporary and very "creepy" (in a good way). Steady plot, and fast read. Editing was poor and this did take away from the novel.
Good Read.

intriguing book that made me think WTF for most of it. I was not sure what to expect when I started reading. this book kept me guessing and still wondering all the way to the end. lot of twists that I did not see coming, which was very welcome, as most books are predictable.....hoping another book is on its way very soon. VERY GOOD BOOK....and it makes me glad I got out of online dating

The Many, by Nathan Fields, caught my interest right away. The concept was completely original. People go on blind dates with people from the Internet and they come back different. They are colder, cruder and mentally unstable. As they turn violent, their families are left searching for answers. Conspiracy thriller meets psychological thriller, and a bit of horror brought in, this novel had a lot to offer. I read it easily in a few sittings.
What I Liked:
Multi-Genre Connections: This novel could be categorized in so many different ways. I think that is so refreshing when you finish a novel and feel like it doesn’t fit anywhere because it was so different from other reads.
Film Connection: This one read like a film; I could imagine it on the screen. It really reminded me of the 90s cult classic, The Faculty or some sort of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. It had a similar ominous tone.
What I Struggled With:
Pace: the novel started out with a bang and, unfortunately, lost some momentum in the middle. It started to feel a little redundant. Luckily, the pace was picked right back up for the conclusion.
Ending: The novel ends abruptly and with a sort of cliffhanger. It was not clear whether or not this book was the beginning of a series and I could not find much information about it. If this was meant to start a series, then I’m okay with the ending, otherwise, I was not impressed with how this one ended so sudden!
Narrative Voice: Although claiming to be a novel for adult eyes only, this one read like a dark YA novel. Our protagonists are 18 and 21 years old, so, naturally, some of the narration seemed young.
Overall, I really enjoyed the general tone and plot of this book and will be looking forward to (hopefully!) more to this series. Be warned that this one does have moments where the narration is sexually explicit, so if that bothers you, you will not like this book. However, if you want an original novel that bends lines of genres, then you will like this read!

Oh my god what a fantastic book! Nathan has down a great job giving little tidbits of info to keep you guessing until the end. It's not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. A great little gem of a book that will have you turning pages well into the night!!

Book wasnt terrible. There were some suspenseful parts and the plot was good but I'll just say that it's the kind of book you need to pick up and read for yourself to see if it's right for you. If the beginning doesn't rope you in, it'll only be downhill from there.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an advance copy in return for an honest review.

I always feel bad giving a bad review. This is not a bad book it just left me feeling a bit cold.

Karl's sister Stacey returns from a blind date acting a bit different. No one seems to notice but him and he is sure something happened on the date that she has blocked from her memory. Dawns mother goes on a blind date and comes back behaving different. Dawn doesn't understand what is going on and just wishes for her mother to be back to her usual self.

What unfolds is a terrifying story where Karl and Dawn must fight for their lives.

This book states that it’s for Adults Only. I got the feeling from reading this that whilst this is justified by a detailed rape scene, swearing and violence that come out of nowhere. If you took this out the book it would be based at older teenagers. The clothes, musical tastes, lack of self-confidence, social awkwardness, obvious age difference with the other characters, and lack of awareness of anything else, make the two main protagonists Karl and Dawn seem to me to be teenagers.

The book is in three parts. The first part builds the scene and pace nicely. There are more than a couple of WTF where your mouth is wide open, and you have no idea where it is going which keeps you gripped.

The middle coasts along. Characters are introduced for no reason, they go nowhere and you wonder what they were there for. There is the death of characters that I just couldn’t understand what value it added to the story and gratuitous violence for the sake of it.

The last third that just goes off on of its own. You reach the end which seems to have no connection to the rest of the book. The main protagonists Dawn and Karl have acted with complete lack of judgements and put themselves and others in serious danger.

Then the book finishes with the characters behaving in a way that I just did not get.

And the ending bears no relation to what was going on before.

Back to teenagers, making poor judgements and acting on their own immature best interests.

It’s dark. It’s creepy. There are a good few: ‘He’s behind you’ moments.

There are also a good few holes in the plot , and a few editing errors. Dawn arrives at a restaurant after her date, but upon leaving the restaurant recalls how the valet played with her dates car keys. How could she know this if he was already seated before she arrived?

Its two stars as it just trundled to the end with ends left untied and an ending that had left me thinking: What?

Great read. Was exciting and fast paced. The ending had a good plot twist. Not for the light hearted or easily offended though. I was left wondering about the mental hospital.

When I requested this book, I was looking forward to something sinister, possibly turning toward science fiction or the paranormal. However, this book didn't go that direction at all, which wouldn't have been bad except for the meandering plot. I know plot twists are meant to keep the reader on the edge of their seats and wanting more, but these were odd, not set up well, and left me wanting the book to be over. I also usually enjoy differing perspectives, but all the characters seemed like they had the same voice. I would not recommend this book.

I was really excited to read this novel. The blurb intrigued me and for the first third of the book I loved it. I just had to know what had happened to the women. I thought the portrayal of the relationship between Karl and his sister was really well written. It felt realistic and I really enjoyed the characters. However, as the plot progressed I lost sight of wanting to know what happened and just wanted the book to end. The novel became so far fetched that I was left feeling disappointed.
