This book includes some interesting topics regarding chivalry and how medieval times have been romanticized throughout more recent history. Readers are likely to find the essays either captivating or painfully dull depending on whether the rather niche subjects interest them. For example, 'Creating a Medieval Past for the Swedish Orders of Knighthood' probably has a limited audience, but that audience will be very happy to find it.

I did find the analysis of how we view the medieval age through a lens of Victorian and World War era interpretation. Chivalry has been used to encourage and substantiate actions and organizations since the last medieval knight left the field of battle, so it is interesting to consider how that might impact one's vision of the past. Many anachronisms, exaggerations, and outright falsehoods were discussed in academic detail.

This book isn't really what I was looking for, but others may find some of the essays are precisely what they need for their research.
