Sidenote: The download expired before I was even able to download (I have awful time management) so I listened to the audiobook in Scribd. The ebook is also available there but I opted to listen to the audiobook in hopes that it’ll be easier for me to digest.

What if there’s a way for capitalism to end? What happens after?

Peter Frase explores the possibility of a world rid of capitalism and four of the many possible futures in this book that is a boiling pot of speculative fiction and science fiction.

Four of the futures mentioned are Communism (equality and abundance), Rentism (hierarchy and abundance), Socialism (equality and scarcity), and Exterminism (hierarchy and scarcity).

This book had interesting takes on looking into possible, although not perfect, post-capitalism world. Mostly scary, but not utterly impossible considering how far we’ve come with technology. Peter Frase was able to put together a concise look into the future, instead of condensing EVERYTHING there is to know about each possible future into a book that might have ended up as a 400-page title.

I really enjoyed this book - it was a fairly quick read, and provided a lot of great jumping-off points to think about. The language in the beginning can make it seem like a fairly technical read, but sticking with it proved to be the right thing - it was both entertaining and informative.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the Publisher for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
