I loved Jojo Moyes' Lou Clark series of books, but had not read any of her other books before.

I am not really a short story kind of person, as I like to really get into a story, so was not sure how I would feel about Paris for One and Other Stories. Paris for One itself is more of a Novella and I enjoyed this one very much. I would happily have read a full blown novel of this story.

The other, much shorter stories were a bit hit and miss, but on the whole I did enjoy them, and a couple of them even brought a tear to my eye.

Overall, an enjoyable, light read, but I will stick to her novels in future, I think, which is actually a compliment to Jojo Moyes!

Thank you Netgalley for this review copy.
I devoured this book in two days because it captured me from the first story. I love the romance and sentimentality of stories set in Paris and this did not disappoint. Not that it was saccharine sweet - far from it - the main characters had enough humour and dark side to make it realistic. I am not a fan of short story books but this may have swung it for me. The other stories in the book were OK but did not stand out the way that the first did - it may have been better for it to be on it's own to let the other stories 'pop' a little. I was left feeling warm and cosy after finishing the book - the perfect fireside reading for the winter.

9 stories in one book and I enjoyed quite a few of them especially Paris for One and Between the Tweets.

Others are more forgettable and I couldn't quite connect with some of them.

Jojo Moyes is the queen of chance-encounter-creates-life-changing-circumstance. Paris for One could certainly have been a full-sized novel, but I respect Moyes' choice to leave the reader wanting more.
Nell's suddenly realizes her life is in a rut and instead of being the play-it-safe kind of a girl that she has always been, she decides to go on a romantic holiday with her boyfriend. Unfortunately, her boyfriend doesn't show up. This forces Nell to blow her comfort zone wide open and start being adventurous. Any reader that works a regular 9-5 job can relate and fantasize. The "Other Stories" are fun little bite-sized additions.

This was a fun collection from a great writer. Highlights include Paris for One, Crocodile Shoes, and Last Year's Coat. They were all written in her signature style, which immerses the reader in the scene like few other writers accomplish.

A very enjoyable, charming and heartwarming collection of short stories by the uber popular JoJo Moyes. Some stories resonated more than others but overall a good read.

I was so overjoyed when I finally had a chance to sit down and actually read, "Paris for One," by the author, JoJo Moyes. Mostly, my excitement was from reading yet another novel by one of my favorite authors and yet I do have to confess that the rush of happiness lingered more when I found out this novel contained short stories. I adore short stories and I wish that authors would write more short stories than what is currently being published in the industry.

"Paris for One," is a group of short stories written by Moyes that is centered mostly around Paris, love and of course women who are learning lessons in both romance and in life. As a nice little treat, there is enough a short story entitled, "The Christmas List," that is a truly an engaging holiday read.

My favorite story of the book is also the first one, "Paris for One," as I felt like Nell was a heroine that I could most relate to. She and her boyfriend were supposed to take this magical tour of Paris when he ends up standing her up and therefore misses the train. During the time that Nell is in Paris, she has a lot of obstacles to overcome including to having to share her rented hotel room. I really loved how determined Nell was to discover Paris for herself and by doing so she learns more about who she is than she has ever before. Overall I just loved this story.

The rest of the collection of short stories are worth applauding as well. Each story contains their own unique characters, mostly women that are having their inner-struggles regarding romance. I would without a doubt recommend this collection of short stories!

Jojo Moyes is a patron and librarian favorite at my public library. Her work is ideal when I'm uncertain exactly what a new patron wants to read, and this title is going to be great for summer reading suggestions, as the stories are brief and memorable.

I love JoJo Moyes books! She has such a great way of telling a story. This one's a book of short stories. I loved all but one of them (it was a bit uneven). Moyes' characters are great, realistic women, and I enjoy seeing their lives and how they face their problems. A great read for anyone who enjoys realist, more gentle romances and just great feel-good stories.

An entertaining collection of short stories (and one novella) about women finding themselves and their own strength.

I loved Paris for One. The main character, Nell, is a lot like the average 20-something woman trying to figure out who she is. The story was heartwarming and I had trouble putting it down! The second half of the book is filled with very short stories about love and life, with characters readers can relate to. They are short and make for quick reads.

Four stars: A delightful collection of stories that highlight romance in all different stages.

I picked up Paris for One looking for a nice romantic escape. This was a fun book to read as it featured eight different stories. The first and main attraction: Paris For One is a novella, and it was a joy to read. It is story about a young woman's romantic Paris weekend that has gone terribly wrong until it turns around. I loved the growth and the romance in this one. It stole my heart. I loved watching Nell find her confidence and a new chance at love. This collection of stories is worth reading just to enjoy the romance in Paris For One, plus you are whisked away to Paris. Loved this one: Five Stars.

Between the Tweets is a short story that is a bit ironic. A seasoned broadcaster, past his prime, whose career is declining until a mysterious woman on Twitter claims to have had an affair with him, and she wants him exposed. A lawyer is tasked with getting to the bottom of the Twitter mess, and what she finds is an interesting twist to the story, and just when everything is going to end well, there is a sudden, ironic, surprise ending. Three and half stars.

Love in the Afternoon is a short tale about a couple who have been married for years, and have quit trying as far as love and romance. Then the woman is whisked away on a surprise romantic getaway, which she secretly does not want. The romantic weekend is a bust, and just when it can't get any worse, the woman learns the truth about the trip. Luckily, it has a happy ending. A lesson about not taking your marriage for granted. Three stars.

A Bird in the Hand takes you through an encounter between two former lovers who unexpectedly meet a couple of years after their relationship unexpectedly ended. Once they start talking, they can't deny the attraction still there, underneath the anger, and then the truth comes out about how the relationship ended. Then the woman makes an unexpected choice at the end, which I liked. Three stars.

Crocodile Shoes A funny story about how an accidental mistaken bag switch at a gym bolsters one woman's confidence and changes her life when she is forced to wear a pair of designer shoes. Things suddenly look up for her all because of the shoes: her work, her marriage and her self confidence. Loved the way it ended. Four stars.

Holdups is a bit far fetched but still fun. This story features a young woman working at a jeweler store who suddenly finds herself the victim of a robbery. Then she makes friends with one of her captures and things escalate from here. A funny story but a bit unrealistic. Three and a half stars.

Last Year's Coat: A moral tale featuring a woman who is struggling to make ends meet, but she is blessed with a kind husband and wonderful kids. Still she can't get the lovely coat out of her head in the shop window even though it is out of her budget. She is surrounded at work by hedonistic women, who spend their money on all types of expensive fashion items. Then the woman receives two surprises and she realizes how lucky she is. Four stars.

Thirteen Days with John C is a funny story about a women who finds a cell phone with only one contact: John C. She guiltily reads the incoming texts from John C, and soon she can't help but to answer the texts. After two weeks, she is living in a fantasy world with John C. Then she finally agrees to meet him, planning to tell him the truth that she isn't his Scarlet Woman. The meeting doesn't go as planned, an interesting twist for sure. Four stars.

The Christmas List: A story about a woman in a passionless marriage who is busy scurrying around two days before Christmas trying to find needless things for the holiday, all the while dreading having to spend Christmas with her in laws. Then an unexpected taxi ride makes her see things a little differently. A nice holiday story. Four stars.

Paris for One and Other Stories is an enjoyable collection of romantic stories. Some are sweet and wonderful, while others are a bit prickly. Still, I enjoyed exploring all the different type of relationships. I would highly recommend reading this book for the title novella: Paris For One. This is a nice collection for anytime you want something light and romantic.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for this review.

Truly enjoyable short stories from Moyes. I really enjoyed the first story in particular. This book is a quick read, but Moyes' fans will surely enjoy it.
