An unusual novel about Flavia, a woman banished to a convent because of a birthmark on her face who finds herself in the position of insuring that another woman always looks perfect. Ghostanza has a host of secret potions and needs Flavia to secure the ingredients. Turns out, the cream eventually ruins the user's face. Howard has a lot to say about what women will do for what they consider beauty- and how destructive that can be. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. An interesting read.
