Zach is a phone sex operator who becomes attracted to one of his clients. When they actually meet, the client, John, is, according to Zach, even more wonderful than the fantasy. To me, John seems creepy at worst, a crashing bore at best.

Hotline has a fun, breezy style, it's an easy read and Zach and his friends are likeable (although some of the family stuff is a bit repetitive and predictable). However, it doesn't really work for me because the author brings up a lot of issues and then ducks them. She instead goes for a contrived conflict and a schmaltzy resolution.

Quinn Anderson had me at phone sex operator. While there are tons of books out there (m/m or otherwise) that focus on characters working in the sex industry, I find phone sex sorely underrepresented, which is a shame since phone sex can be ridiculously hot when done correctly. Zack ends up becoming a phone sex operator so he can finish school. It works for him because he is a quick thinking and can go with most situations. It's simply a job for him until he starts getting calls from John. Suddenly, he finds himself thinking of a client long past the call is over. When fate brings the two together (and by fate I mean some stalkerish behavior by one particular client) they find the chemistry extends past the phone line. Add in some crazily sexy role play and this book was all kinds of hot sexy fun. My only minor complaint is that it had a slow start, but I never really felt a desire to put it down and once it picked up, it was definitely worth the patience required at the beginning.

had never read this author before so I had no idea what to expect. I loved the first half of this. The sexual tension between these two was off of the charts and the phone sex scenes were super hot. I liked Zack as a narrator. John though was a little harder to get a read on. Yes, he was a bit stalkerish at the beginning but I didn't really have a problem with that. If I'm going to put reality aside to believe a phone sex operator and client can fall for each other in the first place, then I can put aside some plot niggles.

There is a major incident towards the end though that bothered me and brought down my overall rating. I feel like the plot as a whole was too short and superficial to be tackling such a big issue.

Overall though, I enjoyed this book and I will definitely read the next in this series and other work by the author in general.

This was a DNF for me.
Try as I might I just could not connect with the characters and character connections are a big thing for me.

The description of Hotline had me at "phone sex operator." Zack is a phone sex operator and he's pretty good at it. He's by no means the most popular at his workplace, but he gets the job done. Then John calls, and he instantly becomes more than just another client. There's something about him that Zack really likes, and the chemistry is obviously there for real. Too bad he's just an anonymous voice...until they run into each other and recognize each others voices.

Hotline was so freaking fun to read! It had me hooked from the very beginning! Zack's job is quite entertaining. We mainly just get his steamy calls with John, but he also highlights some of the stranger calls that he's gotten. I also liked how Zack wasn't ashamed to be a sex worker. There's an obvious stigma that comes with this line of work, but he's quick to point out that it is a real job. It pays his bills. He does it safely and by choice. Sure, it's not his dream career but he's enjoying it now for the most part and he won't let anyone talk down to him for it.

Of course, Hotline is a Romance novel. Zack and John meet and their chemistry is through the roof! They go from having a lot of phone sex, to having a lot of real sex! From there feelings develop and they go on dates and are generally adorable together. At least until the inevitable fight, which I am of two minds about. On one hand, I am quite annoyed that there was a fight to break them up temporarily and both of them do things that I find not okay. But on the other hand, it brought up some interesting points about relationships and communication. And it led to them actually talking things out rather than just getting back together and living happily ever after like none of it ever happened.

In the end, I really enjoyed Hotline. It's a very unconventional Romance and I loved that! I also really liked how it showed that it's okay to not know what you want to do in life. You can try things, quit things, start other things. That's all valid. No one should be making you feel bad for your choices, or not choosing at all. Zack is 21 and figuring all of that out with the help of family and friends.

Definitely creative concept. I loved all the sexy phone talk. I did have an issue with one point, that made sense, yet still struck me raw. These men clearly needed to learn to communicate. Eventually, the HFN happened, but they definitely took some detours to get there.
