Just didn't work for me. I found the characters annoying. Premise was cute. But definitely not for me.

Set in Japan, Sophie has 7 more days until she goes home to the US. But as her world starts to fall apart around her unexpectedly.
Jamie broke Sophie’s heart 4 years ago and he’s coming back right before she has to leave. Sophie’s jealousy over her bff’s relationship with Jamie is off the charts. It really makes her seem like a brat.
Sophie’s character was a struggle for me even though she’s 17 she acts more like 8. Sophie’s sister has her own issues but is a much better character. She really tries to help her sister even if Sophie doesn’t appreciate it.
I really wanted an epilogue to wrap up this story but there wasn’t one. All in all it definitely could have been better.

I read this book years ago when the ARC was provided but wasn’t an avid NetGalley user then and never reviewed this. I appreciate NetGalley having provided me with an ARC! The main character’s nickname Sofa was initially cute but then got on my nerves. Did not like reading this book and nothing interested me. If anything, the teenagers annoyed me. Cover is super cute though!

Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse

Seven Days of You has such a unique plot, and I loved that it's set in Japan. Sophia is moving in 7 days, so in that time she has to make a lot of decisions and cram a lot of experiences into her life before she's gone. Super unique. I was a military brat and moved a lot growing up. That pain and sense of urgency to get in all your firsts and lasts in a place, along with having all the important conversations with the people you'll be leaving behind is real, and this author does a great job of conveying those emotions. I loved reading about Tokyo! My only real complaint was Sophia's immaturity at times. She's selfish and not the best friend, She has trouble making decisions. But really, I can't fault her for that. She's a teen and I'm not. I think other teens will really relate to her, especially if they're moving soon. What a great topic to finally have a book to recommend for!

Sadly I just couldn't get into this book. I'm not sure if it was my mood or what but I wasn't clicking for me and I have to call it. I see that some people enjoy it so that makes me happy that it was a problem with me and not the book.

I enjoyed this book and was lucky to receive it from the publisher!! Would definitely recommend to my friends. Can’t wait to see what this author does next!

The book did not really work for me. I DNF'ed it. I wasn’t able to connect with any of the many characters in the book and I found myself putting down the book a lot because it was never really catching my attention.

Looking at my GR reactions and rating....I was not a fan of this book. I think that if I'd had a physical copy of it I would have tossed it across the room. I found the MC to be very annoying and just did not like this one. Didn't leave much about it on GR so this is all I can say about this after all this time.

This book was all drama and not much else. The main character kept making situations more dramatic than they needed to be, and all the relationships/conversations were really weird. Also, the lack of Tokyo culture was disappointing. This had potential to be much more than what it turned out to be.

Alright, so this novel takes place in Japan; Toyko to be exact. I've never been to Tokyo, I really don't know much about it other than what I've seen on TV, so I can't speak about whether or not the author was accurate in incorporating culture/specific things about Japan as it is not my place.

What I DID like about the novel – the romance was definitely cute. And it was very easy to read, and flew by quickly. I literally read it in two and a half hours laying in bed. The book had a lot of angst with all the romance – and let me warn you this is a love pentagon. Everything works out in the end with it but literally everyone had a crush on everyone or something.

The book does focus a lot on friendships, the good and the bad parts, and how some friendships can be toxic. I thought it was interesting how the main character praised her friend so much until she realized that they used people. The main character also realized some friendships can be unexpected, and some last forever. I also really liked that errors were called out, and the main character admitted her own faults when she made a mistake. It’s not often you see that kind of thing. So yeah – the friendships and the honesty in this book really made me enjoy the storyline.

Back to the angst – I AM A SUCKER for angst. It was there from the beginning and didn’t stop at all until the very end. Despite this being a quick relationship that happens over the span of seven days – I wouldn’t call it insta-love. The characters had a past and reconnected, realizing their feelings for each other that were there over years of being apart. It was honestly really adorable, and my only complaint regarding the romance is that I wish there had been more. I wish there had been more flashbacks and more information about the love interest so that I could get to know him better. I felt like I didn’t know him enough. I’d love a sequel, and that way we could see how the two main characters work out their new relationship.

Overall I gave it three stars because I did love the romance and emphasis on healthy relationships with friends. However I did deduct some stars because 1) there is a trope that I hate in this book (can’t say due to spoilers), 2) lack of background!! 3) stuff in the first few paragraphs

I’d recommend this if you’re looking for something simple to get over a book slump.

Not my favorite story by far. The beginning and middle I didn't really get interested in it. The last few chapters is when I was truly invested. I love the fact that it took place in Japan and to learn Japanese words and the culture. That was exciting. The ending was so sad. I was hoping for something different but all books cant go the way you want it too. Overall not my favorite but it was all right.

I thought I would like the unique setting of Tokyo, a city that seems so colorful and lively that I thought it would add life to the plot. But the romance became too familiar and the city never truly came to life for me in this book. I skimmed most of it and was never really that invested in the characters to fully read the book.

Was a short story. Didn't really like it that much because much of the action seemed to be really rushed. Did a good job of encapsulating how short of a time period 7 days is, but was not paced well. Probably would not read again.

The doors to Tokyo city were opened to the reader, and the everyday wonders of life there were exhibited in a way that made the setting part of the magic of this story. The culture and the society were vividly recreated within the confines of this book and I truly felt I got an authentic glimpse of a life lived in this vibrant place

Poppy and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Seven Days of You. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Sometimes, timing is everything. In Sophia's case, if she could have only left Tokyo a week earlier, she would be able to avoid seeing Jamie again. They were once friends, but everything shattered four years before. Will Sophia learn something meaningful about herself and the relationship she chooses to have with others before she leaves? Is four years long enough to earn forgiveness?

Seven Days of You is a good YA romance, but nothing in the premise or plot really helps to set this book apart from countless others in the genre. The most interesting parts to the book were the references to Japanese culture and customs, as it helped to place the characters in this realistic setting. In the end, I felt the author glossed over the issues of Seven Days of You, namely the feelings of abandonment of some of the characters and the reasons behind some of their emotional outbursts. Choosing to focus more on the romance aspects, the author did a real disservice to the story. For these reasons, I would be hesitant to recommend Seven Days of You to other readers.

Since it’s YA week, I thought I’d review the last YA book I read and adored.

Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse is sweet romance that tells the story of Sophia (Sofa to her friends) and her last 7 days in Tokyo before her mother relocates the family back to NJ for work. All Sophie wants to do is spend her final week taking advantage of the beautiful city that’s been her home for the last few years and savor final moments with her besties. Then Jamie, a former classmate from the US shows up and he inadvertently upsets all her plans leading her to discover who her true friends and what type of person she truly is.

I loved that this book was not just a “girl meets or re-meets boy” story. It’s a story about love of self, family, friends and home. Ms. Vinesse also does a fantastic job of making Tokyo come to life on the pages. It’s almost a character in itself. I’d love to visit Tokyo on day.

If you’re a fan of contemporary YA romance, don’t miss Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse. You won’t be disappointed.
