Greg’s twin sister was murdered a decade before and when he finds out the suspected murderer now has an alibi all hell will break loose.
Sadly I couldn’t connect with this book and found myself skimming the words and not really absorbing it which is my fault not the author’s but I would certainly try another book by him.
Good psychological mystery with a narrator the reader does not know whether to trust. Well-rounded characters and a fast paced plot. Absorbing read - would be great for a long plane ride.
This book was hard to connect with. It kept jumping from one thing to another with not any given smoothness for its reader.
It really was very disjointed.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for the opportunity to read this book in return for my honest opinion.
This book sounded great; I love psychological thrillers and couldn't wait to start this book. I was so disappointed. I wanted to like this book. There were some good plot twists and ideas but overall I found this book hard to finish. It was jumpy and a lot of it just didn't make sense, the ending was bizarre.
This book started with such hope then it was a let down. Very depressing book and to much psycho babble in it. I was trying to finish the book just to finish. Wouldn't recommend reading .
Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Before You Leap. I also chose this selection from the Amazon Kindle First Program. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.
Greg Cole moved to Florida after his twin sister's murder in Michigan and has carved out a good life as a psychotherapist. Scarlett's spiral into drugs and depression stemmed deeply into her childhood, although she did get worse after the death of their grandparents. Certain that her boyfriend, Zane Murdoch, was guilty of the crime, Greg testified at the trial and was instrumental in securing a conviction. 10 years later, the verdict has been vacated due to newly acquired evidence and Greg's life becomes full of innuendo, suspicion, and trouble. Visits from the police and a private detective help to fuel Greg's paranoia, until a tragedy brings everything to a head. Will the past dredge up more trouble and put Greg's life in danger?
Before You Leap is a fast paced psychological thriller involving a man for whom life has not been the same since his sister's murder. Greg Cole is an unreliable narrator, which adds another layer to the story. Despite his flaws, Greg is an interesting character with a compelling story. Before You Leap features a convoluted plot and is one that readers, who are fans of the genre, will enjoy.
There were three major twists in this book, all of which were fairly obvious. But the characters are interesting and complex, and the plot moves at a fantastic pace, so the writing holds up.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas and Mercer for the e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. The book was a bit depressing, but this is sometimes typical of the genre. The plot was interesting, and the characters were well developed. I enjoyed it.
Loved it!! Well written book that had me hooked from the beginning. The twists just kept coming. Just when I thought I'd figured everything out, here comes another twist. I did not want to put this book down! Definitely, highly recommended.
A therapist finds him in a high speed chase with a friend from the past? While it was a high energy beginning I felt the middle couldn't keep up the same pace. At times you left yourself wondering "Well what the heck just happened" with characters entering and exiting just as quickly.
A lot of the plot lines were predictable and it was very odd for the main character who is a therapist to just pass out from stress. Also a backstory is the death of Greg's sister. This appears to be the main story but took a back seat to all the crazy scenarios that Greg gets himself into, and then gets neatly wrapped up in the last 20 or so pages. I would hate for Greg to ever be my therapist should I ever need one.
