A nice start to a new series. This has good characters and an interesting plot. It's perfect for fans of fiction set in- wait for it- the 10th century.

The Unbroken Line of the Moon was a difficult book for me. While I enjoy this genre, this book was a bit extreme with the violence and the horrors were vividly portrayed in all their dark splendor. I'm torn because I loved the overall plot of this book and the characters were strong and bold but I wasn't so pleased with the delivery. With that said, I do understand that by telling the story it was realistically brutal in that the vikings were violent and at times extremely barbaric. Putting aside my own pers0nal taste, I believe the author definitely delivered the story they way it was meant to be told.

If I'm honest, it was hard to get behind any single character because they are all so hideous. I get that they're Vikings, but dang. I'm thrown by the rapes, the dangling carcasses, and the endless beatings. I won't be tuning in for the next book.
