I took a decent hiatus between books 2 and 3; however, I am very happy that there was almost no problem falling right back into step with the characters. It took me a couple of chapters to fully get sorted but it was still quite easy to follow along.

The mystery was very good and it kept me guessing until the very end. I honestly did not see at least one of the twists which made it quite enjoyable to me! There are some slow moments and times when it seems like a lot of page time is wasted on superfluous events. This seems to be a similar complaint I had with the previous book as well.

Juliet is a good heroine and has a knack for investigating <b>and</b> stumbling upon dead bodies. The banter and interactions with Pete are quite enjoyable and it's very obvious that they both have feelings for each other. However, she seems to have as many problems as she has men. One turns their back and another takes their place. It's worse than a love triangle, it's just a revolving door. I did like the girlfriend additions and truly enjoyed their interactions. Maya is probably my favorite new character and I looked forward to when she was involved in the story.

Overall, it's a good combination of chick-lit and cozy mystery and a cute read. This is a good series that I will one day finish as I want to know who Juliet ends up with once and for all.

Enjoy and Happy Reading!

There are some real surprises in this book, and an inkling of what is to come next for her. It is a fun read, and I enjoyed every aspect of this well paced book. Of course if you haven't read the first two books in the series, you really should read those before reading this one. Otherwise an awful lot of references aren't going to make any sense to you! Also that way you will have 3 times the fun! I see another book is coming out out in a few months, so you might want to get started right away! I am looking forward to what happens next!

Mystery, Cozy Mystery, Mystery Romance, Culinary Mystery

Juliet Langley, Jules to her friends, is the manager of the Java Jive coffee shop in Nashville. Chaos begins when she finds her neighbor Chelsea dead and soon after Kira, a Java Jive employee and Chelsea’s roommate goes missing. Jules gets involved and starts investigation for the missing woman. Her on-again-off-again boyfriend homicide detective, Ryder Hamilton is not happy about it and tells her.

She goes undercover looking for a job with an escort service and as a potential egg donor. The investigation becomes dangerous the further involved she gets. When a friend’s husband is arrested, Jules wonders who is really behind it.

This is third book in the Java Jive series. There were some twists in the story that I did not see coming. The story is fast-paced, and the characters are developed. If you like cozy mysteries, you will probably like this one.

What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.

A Whole Latte Murder by Caroline Fardig

the title is quirky and fun and the cover art draws you in. The plot was well thought out and complicated, making it a good solid mystery. The characters never hit home with me, and I did find them shallow. It was hard to sink into when I could not grasp what the characters were really about.. It did It start to move smoother about 50% in, and I wanted to know who the killer was, so I kept at it, but I just could not care who it was. Maybe I just do not like the main character. she seems flippant and uninteresting. I do not really like Ryder either. Pete is okay, she did a better job describing him, but stays with Ryder most of the book, and makes me not care for her.

It is a fun read. I would recommend it for young adults who love a good mystery and a good cup of coffee.!

Thank you for the opportunity once again to review one of your books!

This is a wonderful quirky book that deals with a fun loving female character aka sleuth that solves another mystery.

Another chick lit mystery for Juliet - this time concerning the medical sector.

When a young student goes missing, everybody get a bit nervous. Especially Juliet´s young neighbour Chelsea. So when another neighbour of Juliet´s, Trevor the hacker, wants to check on Chelsea in her apartment, Juliet reluctantly goes with him. And Trevor was right to be concerned - Chelsea is found dead. And soon it is clear that it is a murder. When Chelsea´s roommate and Juliet´s employee, Kira, goes missing, Juliet is sure she needs to do something. As Chelsea was rumoured to be dating a doctor, Juliet starts there.

The series goes better and better. I am not saying that is it good, concerning the mystery department, as my required mystery quality level is quite high and this one is too cozy, but it is definitely better and I can even spot some red herrings during the novel.
Or maybe I am just much more interested in the missing girls than the deaths of several obnoxious persons in the previous installments? Might be. The cause of sleuthing is definitely more interesting here.

The on-off thing between Juliet and both Ryder and Pete is getting old, on the other hand. And unbelievable. Could trirtyish woman truly behave as a (horny) teenager towards two men? They also feel like props on the story, always being the sweet Pete and the hunky Ryder (while sweet Pete can be macho and Ryder can be sweet, but still feeling as one-dimensional persons).

But while having said all that - I am somehow still quite enjoying reading the books in this series. I can´t exacly pinpoint my finger on the why - maybe because of the warmness shining from the pages, maybe the funness, maybe simply the certain humanity and the attitude of going the one extra step for your fellow human.
So I am off to read the next installment in the series, too.

This is the third book I have read in the Java Jive series. They characters are alive and vibrant and seem realistic.

Juliet Langley manages Java Jive, a coffeehouse in Nashville. Her boss, Pete, is her best friend. She is dating Ryder Hamilton, a detective. The only problem with this whole scenario is that Juliet has a knack for finding dead bodies and not being able to leave the investigation to the police.

Between finding the dead body of a gal that just sang at open mic night at Java Jive and it being the girlfriend of her computer hacker friend, she is again snooping where the police don’t want her.

Without giving too much away: a tennis match, three more girls and her detective boyfriend all give Juliet problems she just has to solve. This time she ends up snooping at an escort service, a talent agency, a sleep disorder clinic and a fraternity clinic besides being clipped by a speeding car.

This book kept me up at night as I wanted to find out “who done it”.

I liked this book. While I don’t like how Ryder treats Juliet, I think it’s part of their story and how they have to find each other again (if they’re going to do that some day).
This storyline had a couple of twists that weren’t too shocking and some ups and downs you kind of saw coming. I liked the pace of this one better than some of the others, but Pete and Juliet are still a bad idea.
I will say that knowing what happens in the next one, there’s a point you want to scream, “NO JULIET DON’T!”

I loved this book, but that is no surprise because I have liked all the Java Jive Mysteries. The books are funny, easy reading and just the type of book to settle down with after a hard day of work. There is mystery, action, and romance to get your heart racing. Caroline Fardig does a wonderful job of holding your attention and making you want to keep reading, no matter how early it is in the morning when you finally finish the book. I got this ebook free from NetGalley and noticed that I hadn't read it yet. So, I quickly read it, have started on book 4, and already purchased book 5. This is a great series and I hope she writes many more.

Book 4 in the Java Jive cozy mystery series and it can be read as a stand alone. You get enough back story from the previous books to get you caught up and not feel like you're missing too much information.

The characters are well written, the humour is just right, the mystery is good and it's a quick read.

*Huge thanks to Caroline Fardig, Random House Publishing Group - Alibi and NetGalley for this copy which I chose to read and all opinions are my own*

I had read the previous book and was happy to receive a review copy of this one. The plot was a little more convoluted but I happily read to the end, enjoying the continuation of the story. The romance was a little more complicated, but the story was fairly light and enjoyable.

Not exactly my cup of tea. I was very interested by the story line, a little mystery, a little romance, and a heroine who could fend for herself. Unfortunately I just couldn't get past the language. Well written and engaging characters but not what I am looking for in a relaxing read.

I am really enjoying the Java Jive Mysteries and this is another good installment.

Things are going pretty good for Juliet, as Java Jive is going well, and her relationship with Ryder seems pretty good and then a college girl goes missing and one ends up dead. The dead girl lived in Juliet’s apartment complex and was roommates with one of her workers so it puts her right in the middle of things. More stress for Juliet when she learns that Ryder has been promoted to homicide and it becomes his case, she doesn’t want him working where he could run into psychos.

Then her worker Kerra goes missing as well and they all think the worst is probably happened. Then things go a bit haywire with Ryder and her and her friend Pete get a bit closer. Meanwhile, Juliet keeps trying to figure out what is going on especially when it looks like a friends husband could be involved and gets herself in trouble once again.

For the most part I really enjoyed this one but I must say I am not a fan of Juliet’s love life. I really wish she would decide if she likes Ryder or Pete or someone else, but pick someone. I like Ryder and I like Pete so I really don’t know who I would want to see her with, but the back and forth thing is getting old.

The mystery is really good, I totally had no clue who the bad guy was and I like when that happens. 🙂 Overall, I enjoyed it and I am curious what will happen next.

This is a great little series, I've had the pleasure of reading the first two and they haven't let me down as of yet. Jules and Pete are so very likable as well as the other characters in this series. The dialog between Pete and Jules have me laughing out loud, I'm already looking forward to the next installment to see what is in store for the Java Jive crew.
I received an e-galley of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A Whole Latte Murder by Caroline Fardig is a 2016 Alibi publication.

The redheaded she-devil is back and once more finds herself involved in a murder investigation.

When Juliet discovers the body of a woman, who just so happened to be the best friend of one of her Baristas, Ryder asks her to do a little investigative work for him.

Meanwhile, Pete is still working through his grief, and Juliet is struggling with Ryder’s big promotion up to the homicide department. With Ryder working long hours, Pete gets drawn into the investigation as Juliet’s partner in crime, which also means they are spending a great deal of time together alone…

This installment in this madcap series continues to develop, with more knotty plot lines and a slightly more serious tone. These stories have a nice, even blend of romance and mystery, featuring Juliet’s complicated love life, which involves her lingering and confused feelings for Pete, and putting up with the moody tough guy, Ryder.

The mystery this time around might have gotten just a tiny bit too ‘busy’ and so you will want to read slowly and carefully to keep up with a few fast curves and twists. I’m not sure how accurate the plot might be as far as some details are concerned, and a there were times when my plausibility meter tanked, but I never did puzzle out who the killer was, so I can’t really complain.

It is always fun to check up on Juliet and her famous temper. I’m not sure what to make of the relationship ups and downs and felt a little befuddled by the developments this time around, but am keeping my fingers crossed on Juliet’s behalf.

Overall, this was another enjoyable outing with Juliet, Pete, and the gang at Java Jive.

3.5 stars
