Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

Um. I don't think I realized what this book was when I requested it. I don't mind BDSM, but this domestic discipline chafed and made me uncomfortable.

There's nothing wrong with the writing or the content for the stories in this collection. I enjoy Cara Bristol's work and am a huge fan of her Cyborg series and some of her other books. Unfortunately, the stories in Domestic Discipline didn't work for me. Both Janelle and Cadence annoyed the living daylights out of me and I didn't finish either stories. I simply could not tolerate their attitudes and their behaviors which led to them needing to be disciplined in the first place. I understand there needs to be a trigger for them needing to be spanked and don't get me wrong, I'm ok with the whole spanking kink. Some of it is pretty hot. And Ms Bristol's spanking / sex scenes sizzle. But I wanted to punch both Janelle and Cadence. I really, really did. I tried but I couldn't finish either story because I hated the heroines so much. :-(

I requested this book because the title and blurb really caught my attention. However, I was not able to connect with the characters in the story at all so I had a hard time finishing. I felt it was much more of the author telling me what was happening, rather than showing me what was happening. I will try this author again.

Domestic Discipline by Cara Bristol contains two novellas featuring domestic discipline, Wife on the Lam and Rahm’s Way. In Wife on the Lam, Janelle has been sending hints like crazy to her husband. All she wants a romantic trip to luxury resort somewhere tropical. When she finds out he's taking a business trip instead she gets over her disappointment and decides to live it up in paradise without him. Only problem is, he was surprising her with the vacation of her dreams. That's ok, he won't let his wife ruin both his surprise and their honeymoon. In Rahm's Way (which was my favorite of the two), Rahm returns home after serving his country, expecting life to pick up where it left off. The only problem is, Cadence has had to fend for herself while he was away and is not sure she wants to go back to a life where someone else makes the decisions for her. Both stories featuring characters you can become invested in in a short page count who deal with their relationship issues thanks to some good old domestic discipline. Even is that is not a personal kink, I think you will find someone to enjoy about both of these well written shorter reads.
