"What's behind me will not define me. It was just a lesson. It's what's ahead that will. For "the two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."
This sums up exactly what a young girl- Addie, learned back in the early 1900's as she was left an orphan and was graciously offered a job away from "home" and her friends,to be a "nurse-maid" to an elderly kind woman.
She did what she did best. Learned to trust, love and move forward with a reward of a goal to be a nurse in view.
There were many oppositions to overcome for Addie, including a horrid man who would really have liked her dead and tried.
This is an interesting book, taking place in a time with segregation, corruption and yet many open hearts.
I enjoyed this novel and I think that you will too..
