This is the first of Fina Ludlow series that I've read, so I was a little uncertain of whether or not I'd be ale to jump right into the series or not. There were some issues that I think would've been helpful to know from previous books, but overall I still enjoyed it quite a lot! I can easily see Thoft becoming a big name in the mystery genre, as her writing is gripping, engaging, and has a certain flair that stands out to me. I was drawn into the story from the first page and it didn't waver much as the book progressed. This was a solid mystery and I'll be sure to keep my eye out for Thoft--and pick up the beginning books of this series!

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

Listen. I have been a long time fan of Ingrid Thoft. With Sue Grafton’s ABC books winding down ( please tell me after Z that there will be more letters in the alphabet created just for Sue to use?!) I began looking for a new PI who could replace the hole in my reading pile if Sue and Kinsey really do stop creating new books. Fina fits the bill.

From my Goodreads review: “I love me some Fina. She’s strong. Opinionated. And caring. Her family is a mess of hot tempered personalities and shark like behavior, but Fina tries to what is morally right even if she has to bend the rules of law to get there.”

In Duplicity, Fina is on the horns of moral dilemmas. She knows her father wants her to get in line and welcome her brother back, but she can’t. She won’t. She won’t rest till Rand is long and gone from the family ( for the details of why- you’ll need to check out Loyalty.)

Even more- Fina is grappling with day to day life- her role in life, her role in her boyfriend’s life- is she cut out for next relationship steps? What about her life as a PI? In Duplicity, I feel that Fina is sometimes very confused about deeper thoughts, etc and the case she is working on is NOT helping.

What I liked:

The cover. It’s a bit telling (especially if you know the whole history of the Ludlow clan)

Fina. She can do no wrong and I want to be her BFF.

The ending. I was tense. I was on edge of my seat. I almost could not breathe.

Bottom line: If you are in the mood for a kick-butt female character who bends the law ( but rarely breaks it) and won’t stop till she gets answers- Fina is your girl.

I absolutely love the Fina Ludlow series books. They are SOOOO much better than the Stephanie Plum series and remind me a lot of the Spellman books, which I love as well.

In this book, Fina is trying to keep a client's daughter from giving up all her land to a church that she feels is crooked. The pastor and his wife have three homes, go to fancy resorts for vacation and drive very expensive cars.

Fina also finds out that someone has put a contract out on her. Not to kill her, but to injure her pretty bad. When she discovers the culprit, she definitely sees red.

I found myself laughing out loud several times while reading this book. I met the author on her first book tour with Loyalty and have enjoyed every book since. Her writing just keeps getting better. I'm ready for the next one!

Huge thanks to G.P. Putnam & Sons for approving my request and to Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest review.
