One of the reasons why I had a hard time relating to the story is because it is a sequence of Wicked Games which I haven't read. I've tried looking for a copy, so I could read it but failed. Anyway, I enjoyed reading Mind Game, despite that fact that I haven't read the first book, as I did not only like the mysteriousness of it but also came to reflect about myself and the society that we have right now.

What happened to Jak Hart anyway? I guess it will be in the sequel. Here is a one word review, GREED! Good story of what people will do for money that all mighty dollar!

** Sequence of Wicked Games **
In the end, it is all about money. Everything. Ethics, favors and people: all can be bought, it all depends on the price you are willing to pay.
Frank King was flying his helicopter when he spots a body floating on the sea. When he and his team land to rescue the body, they realize it should be Sophie Deeks, a former police offices who got involved in sexual scandals in the corporation, specially after she gave up pressing charges against her ex-husband Harry Wade (also a police officer) for paedophilia.
Her death indirectly joins Jak Hart, Veronica Turner, Frank King, Harry Wade, Michael Truth and Gerry Pitt, and each one has their own interest in each other: directly or indirectly - money.
In Mind Games, Andrew Field keeps on exploring this dirty and evil side of the human being: greed. The ones that were thought to be on control are actually being manipulated, and the end is completely unpredictable.
Another tough book. A book that makes you think, and that unfortunately reflects things that happen in the real world. I honestly hope that in End Games we get to know what happened to Jak Hart!

I tried to get into this book 3 times but just couldn't I hate to admit defeat but it just wasn't for me.it wasn't the swearing it just didn't flow for me.Someone else may well love the writing style and I hope they do, it just wasn't a good fit for me.Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.

The book was just ok. I found it irritating at times the way it was written out.

Let me start by saying I had to wait a couple of days after I finished this book to write the review as I still had so much to process! Field wasn't kidding when he said he doesn't write "easy-reading comfort crime fiction." But I'm a fan of Lehane and McBain so I figured I'd give it a go. Meet Jak, Veronica, Frank, Michael...oh, never mind, I can't even begin to speak to the plot. No quotation marks, little punctuation; you must be a fan of the genre and hard-boiled noir! Fortunately, I am so kudos and cheers! Just read this now!
