Although thrillers are not my favorite genre, I am that annoying person that guesses the ending in every tv show and book. Nothing ever shocks me. So I enjoy reading thrillers in search of one that will. Although I was surprised at the end, I was slightly annoyed because I felt like Stevens was setting up every male in the book so that the reader was wondering if the stalker was them. And then when you find out who it is, those little creepy things about everyone else are never explained, they were clearly just a device to keep the reader guessing, but now you are supposed to forget all about them. I just don't like when the author hides things from the reader and then tries to shock you with something that they never even hinted at. I have never had this issue with Chevy Stevens before. I usually really like her books, and I did like this one, it just definitely wasn't my favorite.

I also didn't really buy the ending, the big reveal.

All in all this book was a look into the human psyche that leaves you unsettled for days, but if you have never read any Stevens before I would start with one of her other books.

With each book that she writes, Chevy Stevens gets better. Suspense like no other!

I *loved* this story. I usually don't give 5 stars very often to fiction... but I thought and talked about this book constantly while I was reading it. Even my roommate was dying to know "whodunit". While I guessed the who, they why was a twist that I was not expecting. After I read it I thought "DUH!!!" but I was truly blindsided by it at the time.

Lindsey had narrowly escaped her abusive marriage with her daughter Sophie and a big secret in tow. While her wretched husband Andrew lands himself in jail. Lindsey builds a new life for her and Sophie. But 11 years later, Andrew is out... and he won't leave them alone!!

I really enjoyed all of the characters in this book and I'm always a sucker for pets (sweet Angus in this case!). Even at the end, when all was revealed, I didn't want to stop reading.

Thank you net galley, St. Martin's Press and Chevy Stevens for providing me a copy of this wonderful book in exchange for an unbiased review. It was definitely a winner for me!

Young Lindsay meets the handsome, Andrew Nash.  They are young and in love.  They get married quickly and things start to change.   Andrew become possessive and psychologically abusive.  Chevy Stevens skillfully shows the progression of abuse in their relationship.  They have a baby, Sophie but the abuse does not stop.   Finally, Lindsay flees with Sophie in fear for her life.   Andrew is arrested and sent to prison.  Author, Chevy Stevens gives the reader a up close and personal look at domestic abuse.  Some of the scenes, may be difficult for some to read as they are very charged and powerful.
With Andrew in prison, Lindsay is able to start a new life with Sophie.  Lindsay is a very resilient and strong character.  Even though she is fearful, she bravely continues on with her life.  She makes a nice little life for herself and her daughter.  Lindsay then hears that Andrew has been released from prison.   She knows he will come to find her and Sophie.
Andrew is released and does attempt to contact Lindsay and Sophie.  Strange things start to help and Lindsay believes that Andrew is stalking her and Sophie.   Things unravel and Lindsay seeks assistance from others in her inner circle that she trusts.
Never Let You Go by Chevy Steven is told in the voice of Lindsay and Sophie.  The story shifts between the past and present giving more clues of the past through out the story.   I love that Never Let You Go moves quickly and keeps you on the edge of your seat from the very beginning.  Warning – if you get to the end of the book, plan on staying up until you finish the book!!   A very suspenseful, quick moving story with a bit of a twist.
I have been a fan of Chevy Stevens for years and once again she does not disappoint.    Never Let You Go by Chevy Stevens is a 4 star read for me!  You know a book is good, if  I am even reading it on my phone app!   The ending is intense…..you can’t stop reading and you have to finish the book!

Eleven years ago, Lindsey Nash escaped from a violent, abusive marriage with her young daughter Sophie. Under cover of night, they snuck away from their family home while the abusive husband Andrew was passed out drunk. At least, Lindsey thought he was passed out – until she found out later that Andrew got behind the wheel of his car and killed a young woman in a horrible accident while he attempted to hunt down Lindsey and Sophie.

Andrew went to jail, and Lindsey moved her daughter to Dogwood Bay, an isolated – and fictitious – town on the west coast of British Columbia. While it is only a short ferry ride from Vancouver, Lindsey feels that they are far enough away from Andrew that he won’t be able to find them upon his release from prison. However, she hasn’t counted on Sophie’s curiosity about her absent father, and the lengths she will go to meet him. Lindsey tried to protect her daughter by hiding many of the details of Andrew’s abuse, but instead she put Sophie in danger by sugar-coating the relationship.

Suddenly, mysterious things begin happening in Dogwood Bay. Lindsey’s home is invaded, but nothing is taken – instead, her privacy is severely violated in ways that only Andrew would know to do. Meanwhile, her new boyfriend Greg is almost run off the road, and vaguely threatening gifts are left on her car. Andrew swears to Sophie that he is a different man and he would do nothing to hurt his new relationship with his daughter, but Lindsey is not convinced – she knows the depths of Andrew’s obsession and how far he will go to control her. However, she also has her own suspicions about Sophie’s new boyfriend Jared.

The novel moves between two time frames: the abuse and fear of Lindsey’s marriage in the past, and the more immediate threat of the present day. It also alternates between Lindsey and Sophie’s perspectives, but it never becomes muddled – in fact, the short, sharp chapters add tension to an already exciting plot. The first person present tense amps up the suspense, although the perspective can seem unpolished at times. This is a quick read with a slow build-up to the danger surrounding Lindsey and Sophie, and it leaves you wondering how you could ever trust anyone, no matter how long you have known them.

Never Let You Go is clever and unexpected – like me, you might guess who did it, but you will likely not guess why. It is a testament to the author’s talent that the “whodunit” is not the most important part of the book – there is so much more depth and meaning underneath. If you are a fan of Chevy Stevens, there is no doubt you will enjoy her latest book – not because it is formulaic, but because she has a definite style that is sure to please fans of her work once again.

I received this book from St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have never read anything by Chevy Stevens before and after reading this book, I will be searching for more titles by her. This book started out a little slow for me but then the pace picked up. This one kept me guessing until the very end, and I will admit that I didn't see it coming. Very good and quick read.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book.

Eleven years ago, Lindsey Nash escaped into the night with her young daughter and left an abusive relationship. Her ex-husband, Andrew, was sent to jail and Lindsey started over with a new life.

Now, Lindsey is older and wiser, with her own business and a teenage daughter who needs her more than ever. When Andrew is finally released from prison, Lindsey believes she has cut all ties and left the past behind her. But she gets the sense that someone is watching her, tracking her every move. Her new boyfriend is threatened. Her home is invaded, and her daughter is shadowed. Lindsey is convinced it’s her ex-husband, even though he claims he’s a different person. But has he really changed? Is the one who wants her dead closer to home than she thought?

With Never Let You Go, Chevy Stevens delivers a chilling, twisting thriller that crackles with suspense as it explores the darkest heart of love and obsession.

The book opens with Lindsey Nash, a young woman married to an abuser, Andrew. They have a small daughter and they are in Mexico on vacation. This chapter is a perfect way for Chevy Stevens to showcase an example of Andrew's manipulation and abuse of Lindsey.

From then on, we get Lindsey and Sophie's POV with the narrative jumping between past and future, although a personal hate when stories go past and present too much, but understandable here.

A powerful story and I am sure a common one, slow burning, gripping, though provoking tense thriller, that really does keep you guessing, and really full of some surprising shocks.

My first book from this author, and I believe some of her other books are even more gripping.

Another author to look out for.

Four stars from me. Especially as it keeps you guessing and then hits you !

I absolutely loved Never Let You Go. This perfect for any thriller/mystery fan; I did not see the twist coming until the end, and Stevens did a great job at building suspense and throwing the reader off of the trail. I read it in a weekend.

Never Let You Go is a fast paced suspense novel with some unexpected twists but it didn't have much in the way of character development.

The story alternates between the past, showing Lindsey's early relationship and marriage to Andrew as well as the present. It is written initially from the viewpoint of Lindsey but later adds her daughter Sophie's voice to the narrative. Sophie was still a young child when her dad went to prison and that is reflected in the way she views him. Her mom sees Andrew as a threat while Sophie wants to give him a chance. Andrew may have been a nightmare to Lindsey but he was loving to Sophie and that affects her memories of him which could be frustrating.

While I enjoyed the page turning action of the book and wanted to know what would happen next I was annoyed by Sophie's behavior at times but what really bothered me was a scene of what can only be described as rape between two of the characters that was never dealt with. The characters in question were inebriated and high and there was no consent given. She isn't sure of what she wants but she is too out of it to say anything and afterwards she thinks "I guess I must have wanted it, but I don't remember." Later she is upset by what happened but puts all the blame on herself because she was drunk and got into bed with him.

I also wished for more depth to the characters. This is the book equivalent of an action movie/popcorn flick. I liked that I didn't anticipate everything that happened and I thought it was suitably suspenseful but the story was problematic and could have delivered more on character development.

A book by Chevy Stevens is guaranteed to be good and "Never Let You Go" is no exception! As always, well-developed characters and multiple interesting story lines carry the reader away from the start. Never Let You Go looks at the multiple phases and types of love, but there is also suspense from the first page. It is a heady combination! Lindsey Nash and her daughter Sophie are the tellers of this tale, and they tell the story from 2005 when Sophie was seven to 2016.

Lindsey married Andrew young, and soon realized that he wasn't the man she thought he was. His obsessive, jealous love of Lindsey soon turns into control of her and anger which explodes at any time for any reason. Lindsey continually looks for a way to take Sophie and get away. After multiple failed attempts and accelerating abuse, she finally succeeds. When a drunken Andrew finds them gone, he gets in the car to find them and is involved in an accident which leaves a young woman dead. Andrew is imprisoned for ten years for vehicular homicide. Lindsey takes Sophie, moves away and starts a new life, cleaning homes and helping women in domestic abuse shelters.

Lindsey has just started to open herself up to a relationship again when Andrew is released from prison. Soon, mysterious things start to happen at home and work and Lindsey is convinced that Andrew is stalking them and determined to kill her. She is unaware that Andrew and Sophie have been communicating while he was in prison, and have met after his release. Manipulations abound. Who can be trusted?

Stevens writes about the various relationships (husband-wife, mother-daughter, father-daughter, newly dating teenagers, newly dating adults) with a deft hand. There is suspense galore throughout the book, with some turns I never saw coming!

This is an excellent read by a seasoned author of suspense books. I highly recommend it, and thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read an e-ARC of this book.

Never Let You Go by Chevy Stevens is a fast-paced psychological thriller told from alternating points of view, alternating between past and present. The many twists and turns will satisfy fans of psychological thrillers and keep them guessing until the end. The character development was excellent. The story has more than one mysterious and thrilling spin that takes the reader in various directions that certainly kept me guessing throughout the story. Just about the time I thought I knew what was going to happen, everything changed... right up to the end.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Lindsey thought she had put her life with her abusive ex-husband behind her. She found a safe place to live with her daughter Sophie and built her own cleaning business. But then her ex is released from jail. Suddenly he is in the same town as her and scary things start to happen. She is certain it all has to do with her ex, but does it?

This book really kept me guessing. Who is the bad guy? The ex-husband? Lindsey's new boyfriend? Sophie's new boyfriend? And the ending! A real heart pounder.

I've always like Chevy Stevens storytelling and this book is a good example why. A real page turner.

Thanks to Netgalley, St Martins Press and Chevy Stevens for this ARC. I've been a fan of Ms Stevens for a while now, ever since I read her very first book. Her protagonist female character, Lindsay, is well written. I enjoy the way the author combined the storylines, and actually all the characters in this book were just as important to the story as they intermingled. I thought I had the story figured out about half way through as to who the "bad guy" was. But until almost the very end, I never saw it coming !
My reviews are on Goodreads, Amazon, and in my independent book store, Page 158 books, Wake Forest N.C., as their reviewer.

Another exciting thriller from Chevy Stevens! She's mastered the art of leading the reader astray and delivering a major plot twist. Don't expect to get much sleep once you reach that part in the book!!

Told through the points of view of Lindsey and her daughter, we learn that a great deal of their lives have been on the run after escaping from Lindsey's abusive husband. He went to prison for vehicular homicide while under the influence and was sentenced to ten years. Now, he's been released and has learned where they are living. Will a peace order keep him from contacting them or trying to ruin their lives once again?

Highly recommend with the caveat that it may be too hard to read for those who have suffered spousal abuse.

Thank you to Chevy Stevens, the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an arc of this new thriller.

A woman's abusive husband gets out of prison after ten years, finds the small, remote town where she and her teenaged daughter have hidden, and eventually moves there himself. Bad things start to happen, and fears for them both cause the protagonist and her daughter to once again go into hiding. He claims to be a changed man and secretly forms a relationship with his daughter, but does he have sinister motives?
To start, let me say that I enjoyed reading this. It was a quick, fun read, that I looked forward to getting back to. The characters were complex and intriguing, and the settings interesting and well-described. I liked the main characters, and worried about them as things began to go very wrong.
However, I did find some things hard to believe. The pivotal moment, when a discovery is made that shakes the protagonist to the core, did not seem credible. The change was too abrupt. In my experience, people do not give up cherished beliefs so suddenly. There is usually an intervening phase in which they rationalize and try to make sense of things. Despite being shocked and terrified, she was able to immediately come up with a rational plan, communicate it to her daughter, and carry it out. This seemed sudden and unrealistic. I also thought it was a leap for her to assume that the motives and intentions of the perpetrator were malicious towards her, not towards another character, without further evidence. Finally, I didn't quite buy the idea that the perpetrator would spend years planning for revenge, and not be detected by those close to him.
I recommend this book for a fast, fun read. It is also eye-opening to gain insight into spousal abuse and stalking, and frightening to realize the limits of what law enforcement can do.

I've heard reviewers complain about the tiresome plot but the thing about domestic violence is that no matter how tiresome it gets, it is still out there and it still happens. While I don't necessarily think the characters are as unique as they could be, Stevens executed the story in a new way switching between past and present that was engrossing and suspenseful in a way I have not yet encountered in similar novels.
