This was a fun book with a great cast of characters. I enjoyed getting to know Deke and Josie. Their story flowed naturally and the chemistry between them felt right.

**My thanks to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
This book takes place in Dry creak, a place we have visited before, but this book between Deke and Josie Dawson is a slower book in places and, sometimes, moves too fast.
When Josie and Deke travel to Montana separately for Bull auctions, Josie finds hers cancelled because of the weather so travels a little further up to where Deke is for the auction that is there. Once there they both find that the weather has closed in on them and the snow forces them to stay with the lonely man and in his small bunkhouse in very close quarters.
Nothing but friendship happens while they are there, but after a weeks they get on the road to get home together and they have to get ahead of the storm that is behind them.
The attraction between them however cannot be denied and they find out the chemistry is hot between them. But back home, Josie is not sure if the heat between them can last as Deke has always been a playboy with girls falling at his feet. But Deke has other plans, he is not the type to cheat and he has decided to throw his single life in for the first time and has fallen hard for Josie, so plans to romance her and the boys moves fast for what he wants.
It doesn't help that he is a nice, strong man, focused and staying true to himself and what he wants. Josie does not stand a chance against her feelings or Deke playing right into her heart.
A decent book, but just not as good as some of her other books.

Josie Dawson loved the smell of feed stores and the taste of red lollipops. The two brought back memories when she was a little girl and her father took her with him to get supplies. There was always a jar of free lollipops on the counter. Lizzie was at the feed store and said Deke would help load of feed. Then Josie noticed Deke and he was hot. Deke asked Josie if she was going to Lizzie’s for New Years Eve supper and she said yes. Her cousins Blake and Toby and her brother Jed had bought the Lucky Penny Ranch last year. And they were determined to make the ranch succeed despite its bad reputation. Jud and Josie both had two degrees in geology and agriculture . Deke’s three best friends are Allie, Lizzie, and Fiona. Josie has been in love two times, and with her last boyfriend she had even considered moving in with him. But Josie wanted wild fire and all those things romance writers talk about in their books. She wanted the glow after sex and surges of desire when her man walked in. Until Josie got that she would focus on her work. Deke has the reputation of a playboy. Josie is independent and self sufficient cowgirl. Josie had heard about Deke’s reputation from her brother as well as her cousins. Josie is setting up oil drilling on the at the Lucky Penny ranch. There hasn’t been a woman yet that tempted Deke past a weekend of fun with her. Deke and Josie don’t want to admit to their attraction for each other. But then they are stranded in a snow storm. Josie was looking to buy some stock and heard of a great sale and hopped on a plane to Montana where the sale was. Deke was there and had his dog with him. Rascal and Josie and him and Rascal end up in a bunkhouse with no electricity. They are there with a lonely rancher Everett who is a who is a widower but is very kind and sweet. Martha is Everette’s lady friend.
I really enjoyed reading this story. I loved the plot. At times the story made me chuckle. I also liked the slow build up to Deke and Josie’s romance. Especially since he had a bad reputation and deserved it before he met Josie. I definitely felt Roscoe added to the story. It held my interest from beginning to the end. I loved Deke and Josie together. I felt they had a lot in common. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

This is the 4th book in the Lucky Penny Ranch series by Carolyn Brown and the second that I read. After reading Fiona Logan and Jud Dawson's story in Merry Cowboy Christmas I was excited to read the next book in the series and to see what love interest she would pick for Deke. So when I got the opportunity to read Wicked Cowboy Charm I jumped at the chance. In regards to character development I really enjoyed how she continued telling you the story of Deke Sullivan and why he was connected to the Logan sisters. In addition, I thought she did a pretty decent job of giving you back story on Josie so you could understand better her actions. I think a little more of Jud and her back story I would have enjoyed but i understand why it wasn't in there.
In regards to pace of the story I felt that it dragged on at times and that I had a hard time really seeing the characters grow together as a couple like I did with Fiona and Jud. In addition to the pace of the story I also felt that some of the things that happened in the book were very predictable. Not that it is bad all the time but when the pace was slow and then parts of the story being too predictable I had a hard time connecting to the book and really keeping my attention. I found that this book took me a lot longer to read then the other one did.
All in all this wasn't a bad book and I enjoyed some of it. I am interested to see if Carolyn adds more books to the Lucky Penny Ranch and who the next couple will be.

Book received from NetGalley.
While this is the fourth book in the series it is the first book I have read. I didn't have much of an issue reading this as a standalone. The romance in this is of the slow burn variety, and at times you do feel like telling the main characters to get on with it already. However, it works great with the storyline and anyone who has ever had an overprotective family member will feel for Josie's worry and Deke's reluctance about starting a relationship. There were some very funny parts of the book, while there were some that were a bit corny. I loved the book, it was what I needed at the moment, a great escape. I will definitely be picking up the rest of the series to find out more about the other characters mentioned in this book.

I'm very late to the party on both this author and this series--not only does Wicked Cowboy Charm appear to be the last book in the Lucky Penny series, but it's also the first book in the series that I've read, and I'm not certain that my giving it a 3-star rating is the result of my trying to keep all the characters from her previous novels in the series straight, whether my expectations were too high, based on the number of my friends who've raved over her books for years, or if this simply wasn't her best work. Whatever the reason, while Ms. Brown's writing wasn't bad, this novel just felt flat to me.
The hero and heroine in this novel are Deke and Josie. Deke is quite the handsome cowboy, an ex-rodeo charmer who has no problem keeping his bed filled with eager women for one-night stands, and that's the way he prefers it--no dating, no serious relationships and no commitments are his style. Until he meets Josie, whose newly acquired ranch adjoins his, and who is clearly taken by his good looks and charm when they meet at the local feed store and the feeling is mutual.
Both Josie and Deke are looking into purchasing rodeo bulls from different sellers who are many miles apart, but Josie ends up in Montana, at the same ranch where Deke was headed, and one heck of a blizzard traps these two in a small bunkhouse for a week as the blizzard rages outside. The aging and crusty owner of this small ranch, Everett, is quite a character, and I thoroughly enjoyed how well he was portrayed.
As expected, very little goes according to plan thanks to bad weather, a very dicey road trip back home, Deke's reputation as a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy, and Josie's unwillingness to admit to her growing feelings. What didn't sit well with me was Deke's sudden transformation from being a serial womanizer into becoming a complete and total romantic. I also couldn't relate to Josie, who, at the outset. seemed rather strong-willed and prickly, but then turned into a total pushover where Deke was concerned.
Of course, there are a few bumps in the road, but I kept waiting for something more to happen between these two, some test of their attraction and commitment to one another, and while there's a HEA ending, the author spent more time on their hotel accommodations, food choices, and the road conditions during their drive back to Texas than she did on any drama or relationship-building between these two. Yes, something happens along the way, but it was too little, too late, in my opinion, to save this slow-moving, rather uneventful romance novel.
On the plus side, Ms. Brown writes well, and for me the real attraction to Deke and Josie was their shared love of animals, but again, it simply wasn't enough for me to fall in love with these characters, become totally invested in their story, or feel much of anything for either of them.
Wicked Cowboy Charm is a sweet romance with very little in the way of fireworks, and I'll admit to liking romances that offer more in the way of both action and heat. If you prefer novels that are more talk and less action, you'll probably enjoy this book, and this series, more than I did. I do plan to give Ms. Brown's novels another try, since I'm still unsure whether or not my issues with this novel are based on my personal taste or simply that this novel isn't among Ms. Brown's best.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy of this novel.

I couldn't get into the book. I tried several times to get past the first chapter but couldn't do it.
I felt that it embodied all of the cliche Mills and Boons with the first glance hit-by-lightning and feisty but vulnerable heroine and overbearing but nice guy.
Maybe it got better but I couldn't read anymore.

Deke Sullivan owns the ranch next to the Lucky Penney and has ran his ranch by himself. Now he has seen Josie Dawson in the feed store and is totally attracted to her. Their attraction comes along to a time that they both spend in Wyoming wanting to bid on the same bulls. They end up getting snowed in for a week and though nothing happens they actually get to know each other because of the storm, and having to work the ranch for the older man. It is on their way back that they heat up as well as the situations they come across in the drive. When they finally make it back as much as they want to be together Deke now must put down his reputation and prove to Josie he is ready to settle down. This is a great book to go along in the series and really focuses on the two of them, and exploits they come across in their travels. The characters are very good especially the man who owns the ranch they end up at and his lady friend and you are there feeling his loneliness but grateful that these two have been stuck with him for the time being. This is a very good story with more than a few touching moments that make this book stand out.

This is #4 in the Lucky Penny Ranch series. I love going back to this town. Both Deke and Josie want to have a ranch. Both head out to this auction where a blizzard has them stuck in a tiny cabin. What could happen between the two of them only time will tell!!
I love going back to the Lucky Penny Ranch! It is one of my favorite series. The heat between Deke and Josie was combustible!! Surprised there was no explosions!
What would you do if you were stuck in a blizzard with a hot cowboy?

This book was very country-music oriented, like all of Carolyn Brown's books are. The story was interesting and different from the usual, and I enjoyed their road trip antics.

I really loved and enjoyed this one. Really a good story with wonderful characters. Cant wait to read more.

Deke is such a fascinating character. We've seen him since the beginning. I'm glad he got his own story. He and Josie were great together,.

Deke is that irresistible cowboy that knows what type of woman he likes and is not shy about chasing after her. Too bad Josie is not looking to be caught. When the two are snowed in together they cannot deny their attraction to each other but each refuse to give into it. That doesn’t work out as planned. This was a cute and charming romance that will keep you entertained throughout. The story is a little slow to take off but it is worth sticking with until the end.

You know when you are reading a Carolyn Brown book – right from the get go she has you smiling and anticipation is already high for a great enjoyable read. Then she starts the character introductions. Carolyn Brown is not subtle. She lets you in on her plan to weave these heartwarming charismatic folk into her newest Lucky Penny tale – WICKED COWBOY CHARM. Why waste words – Carolyn Brown has something in her mind and she can’t wait to share it with her hoard of fans. Put me at the top.
Josie Dawson and I share a love of red lollipops so we are immediately friends. Deke Sullivan is a tall smooth talking cowboy who knows how to greet ladies with a line. And lucky for us it looks like Josie and Deke are the stars of WICKED COWBOY CHARM but let me assure you that the supporting cast of men, women and animals will capture your heart.
Deke is as big as a barn or at least that’s how he appears to Josie who’s rather tall herself. And yet with Deke she feels more like a woman than ever before. There’s no denying that Josie is gorgeous. Deke is a kind hearted warm blooded guy. Spending time together during a blizzard – Mother Nature’s setting for romance right?!? – gives them perfect opportunity to get to know each other.
They work well together, make a good team and find themselves thinking of the possibility of combining business efforts. Meshing their talents so to speak. How about on the personal front. Chemistry – check. Personalities – check. Honesty, trust, reliability – check. Add great with animals, kind to dogs, old people and kisses like a dream. Well, Josie is going to have to admit she’s in trouble. Those leading men in her romance novels don’t hold a candle to Deke. And it seems nothing would make Deke happier than forming a partnership with Josie. First off with a bunch of bulls – tough, mean and ready to rock and roll. Then perhaps move on to a more personal partnership – who knows. But both Deke and Josie are levelheaded. They both know that this partnership might not have staying power if the waters get muddy with a relationship. Josie and Deke are excited about joining forces. Neither one is too anxious to let their hearts get involved.
All I can say is never underestimate Carolyn Brown. If she means to pair up two characters then she means business. Once again all the necessary elements are present in WICKED COWBOY CHARM. Cowboys and cowgirls, ranches, animals, old folk, family and love. I have always felt a kinship with Carolyn Brown. We like the same things, share respect for people and animals, love of country and western romance novels. We even like the same authors and television shows. I’d bet all Carolyn Brown fans feel the same. Like a good piece of chocolate there’s nothing more delicious, memorable and addictive than a Carolyn Brown story and you can now add WICKED COWBOY CHARM, the next Lucky Penny tale, to the must read list.

It’s been a couple of years or so since I’ve read Carolyn Brown. While I like her idea of cowboys and the storylines she has for them in her series, it’s her execution that’s always been a problem for me. So with this latest book in her Lucky Penny Ranch series, I thought perhaps I’d check in and see if maybe things have changed.
Unfortunately, things haven’t changed, at least that I could tell in the two chapters I read before I just couldn’t go any further. I started out liking the main characters, Deke and Josie, and figured I had a good story ahead of me. But the next thing I know, Deke and Josie are sitting around the dinner table with, I assume, nearly every other character of any import from the series so far. Talking about ranch matters and cattle, other characters and their lives, and other things I just didn’t care about at that point. I wanted more of Deke and Josie before this huge information dump all at once to try to bring a new reader to the series up to speed.
Even though I hadn’t read any of the other books in this series, I didn’t want all those many characters and all that talk/info thrown at me so soon and so quickly. Not caring leads to boredom, and that’s exactly where I ended up, and that’s when I decided to go no further. Okay, maybe I jumped the gun and I missed better scenes once Deke and Josie are snowed in together during a blizzard. But that’s what happens when an author doesn’t pull the reader into her characters’ lives so they’re vested right off the bat and can’t help but keep turning the pages. That definitely didn’t happen here.
For me, there’s been no growth in Ms. Brown’s writing in the years since I last read her books. Even Nora Roberts gets better year after year. So I’ll have toss in the towel and say that Ms. Brown and I just don’t mix.

I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was kept interested. The story has laughs, crazy small town people, and sweet romance.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Wild Cowboy Ways (Lucky Penny Ranch, #1)
Hot Cowboy Nights (Lucky Penny Ranch, #2)
Merry Cowboy Christmas (Lucky Penny Ranch, #3)
This is Josie and Deke’s story. Deke is trouble with a capital T. At least that is what Josie can tell. She is new in town and knows he has charmed half the woman in the town. Deke, knows he is a one-woman man but he had to find that right woman. Now that he found that one woman how will he convince her to that she is his one. Now stuck in a tiny cabin where there is no avoiding each other they will test everything they think they know about each other. Who will come out ahead? Can they really resist each other?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

Carolyn Brown always writes a story that makes me laugh and cry. Of course, there are the cowboys and the women that they meet and fall in love with but the secondary characters are a hoot too.

I was so excited for Deke's story after diving into this series last year and I can easily say it's my favorite! We get to know Deke really well in books 1-3 because he owns a ranch next to the Dawsons and is best friends with Allie, who is the star of book 1. We know he's a crazy womanizer but I didn't fully understand him until I got to be inside his head a bit in this book and he was so much more complex than I realized. It wasn't that he didn't want to settle down, he was just waiting for the right one. And when he meets Josie, she is IT. I really love romances premised on being stranded (if done well) and this one was done so right! Perfect winter romance and I liked the change in the setting - kept the series from feeling staid while also still giving us a glimpse into past characters. I think this is the end of this series but there may be a spin-off, for which I am super excited!
Wicked Cowboy Charm came out earlier this week on January 31, 2017, and you can purchase HERE. I definitely recommend this series and this book if you love a good cowboy romance! My review HERE of book 2 in this series, and HERE of book 3 in this series.
She slipped her hand under his. Yes, there were sparks and vibes and desire at his touch but there was something more that night and ti went much deeper than anything she'd ever known before.
And it felt so right.

With all my trusted bloggers fussing over Carolyn Brown and her writing, I knew I had to give in and give this author a try. I am glad to say that this is my first read by this author and although I wasn’t in love with this story, particularly, I did really enjoy and really, really, liked her writing.
This is book four in Lucky Penny Ranch series and I believe it’s the last book in this particular series, so shame on me for starting here – we get Deke and Josie’s story to tie it all up.
Deke is a cowboy who loves his women and he isn’t shy about it, spending lots of time in bars and picking up his one night stands. Josie is Jud’s sister, who seems to think she has a prickly exterior and isn’t looking for romance, but cannot deny the sudden attraction she feels towards Deke.
When the two hit the road to pick up a couple of bulls and horses (in Josie’s case), the two never imagined that a big snowstorm was going to merge their paths together and get them stuck on the same farm when both were supposed to be miles apart.
It was a cute story, a bit of destiny tied into it. I did enjoy it, it was a soft read with what seems like perfect romance, a bit too perfect in this case. Nothing really goes wrong for Josie and Deke until like 70% into the book when they get home and hit a bit of a hick-up – but even then it felt like Brown was trying to stir things up a little. It didn’t last long, but it felt unnecessary.
The book moved a bit slow for me, especially the first part. I couldn’t wait for Deke and Josie to leave the bunkhouse. I usually enjoy snowed in plots, but this just felt a little monotonous for me, nothing really happens for the two until late in the 70% and by 90% I was just reading it as quickly as I could to move on.
What I did really like was Deke, I liked that he was such a HUGE animal lover and that was what warmed me up to him most. He was so swoon worthy. I wanted him to be more believable in his role as a woman’s man, but he seemed to settle into settling down for one woman fairy quickly without much anxiety and that did not feel believable – but then I have only just met Deke – so maybe my opinion will change when I visit the rest of the series.
Josie seems to think she has a prickly exterior, I didn’t get that vibe from her. She cares about her family, she was very quick into going into business with Deke instead of fighting out over the bulls with him, and overall she just seemed like an easy going, sweet person. She did take that one indiscretion with a solid skin though.
The writing, though, I really liked the style and I think I would enjoy the first few books in the series so I am definitely giving them a try. This book did not deter me from trying more of Brown’s books, in fact, I cannot wait to read the other ARC’s that are waiting for me on my kindle as well as some other backlist titles that have caught my eye.

Carolyn Brown has taken two wary of love people, added a blizzard to give us the charming Wicked Cowboy Charm (Lucky Penny Ranch). I had forgotten how Ms. Brown can draw you into the story, giving you endearing and memorable characters and simply making the book a pleasure to read.
Deke Sullivan is a cowboy to fall in love with despite Josie Dawson’s resistant. The story flows with the relationship developing at an even pace. Like real life, there is a mutual attraction between Josie and Deke that progresses normally and not with the instant love, let’s jump into bed. I appreciate a sweet slow heat in Wicked Cowboy Charm with plenty of time for Deke to work his wily wicked charm.
Cowboy romance fans if you enjoy Linda Lael Miller or the Marietta, Tule’s Montana series, you will love Carolyn Brown’s writing, especially Wicked Cowboy Charm. Don’t let the title fool you, it is a heavenly read.
