This early chapter book is appropriate for around 3rd grade children who recently transitioned to chapter books. There are a few illustrations throughout, making it a perfect transition book.
Also great for animal lovers.
Ella and Caleb live at an animal rescue center ran by their parents. They are very excited as a celebrity is supposed to come to the shelter for a celebration. When he cancels, the kids go to his house. They find his kitten all alone. They go into detective mode- is he missing? Is he ok?
I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

It's heartbreaking to read or hear about all the homeless animals, but it's good that authors are writing about them and a new generation is coming along that might adopt these poor little souls. I have a hard time reading books like these, but get through them feeling something good has come from them. I have rescued 6 stray cats over the years and wish I could take in every homeless one I see. Wonderful story young grade schoolers will enjoy.
