I had hopes that this would be a really good book. But it just didn't quite make it for me. Perhaps in a different season of life I would have been more drawn to the story line. I think there will plenty of readers out there who could give this book the appreciation it deserves. I just wasn't one of them.

What can I say ,but Ms Calvert continues to amaze me with not only her writing, but her sensitivity , insightfulness, and talent as a storyteller.
Each book in her Crisis Team series is wonderful and full of drama, intrigue, romance and believable characters. Know that it’s a Chrstian novel, but no matter what your beliefs are, the moral, ethical and spiritual teachings are universal to all.
In this story , our main characters are Sloane Ferrell, an ER nurse hiding in plain sight, and the hospital’s marketing man, Micah Prescott, who wants to put a special employee on a billboard. He is also a volunteer crisis responder at Hope hospital.
Details of Sloane’s past start being exposed, and in the meantime , Micah starts falling for her. Characters from previous stories make their appearance as well.
This story will touch your heart. Not only will you enjoy the romance, suspense, and intrigue, it will also remind you that with hope, love, faith, and support , the challenges that life brings us, can be overcome.
I was gifted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I've been reading this author for quite a while now, and it seems like things really changed at the end of the Grace Medical series. I found I had a lot of problems with the characters in the books and this one was no exception. I've hated Sloane since her first introduction, and this book was no exception to that.

To me, Sloane has always been this aloof, selfish character, and while she lost the selfishness, she is still very much an aloof person. We learn a bit of her reasoning behind that, but much of her path to redemption felt like she was just going through the motions because it was what others expected of her, not anything she wanted to do for herself. I felt that she never wanted the redemption, never wanted the close relationship with God, and that she would be perfectly happy moving on when things got too tough for her.

Micah was a hard character for me to understand. I could understand his grieving, and even understand his anger toward people who drank and drove, but it seemed like he took it one step further and hated anyone who drank alcohol at all! It felt irrational, and judgemental. By the end of the book, he even realized that he was being so judgemental!

The relationship between Micah and Sloane felt forced, awkward, and slightly manipulative. Sloane held too much of herself back, having too many secrets that weren't good for herself. I couldn't see how they would make it work, with how little Micah knew of Sloane.

While the overall romance plot was lackluster at best, what really kept me interested in this book was the Russian Mafia/Human Trafficking sub-plot. Those characters really got under my skin! I started really caring about what happened to the girls, wondering if they would survive. It shed some light on a murky and ugly topic, and I'm sure it was tough to tackle!

All things considered, I'm rather hesitant to continue to purchase books by the author with how much I've disliked these past 4 books. Likely as not, I'll request from the library first.

“Maybe It’s You” is one of those medical suspense novels where the reader can’t seem to turn the pages fast enough. Primary character ER nurse Sloane Ferrell thinks she has left her past behind – a stepfather in prison who she can’t forgive and an ex-fiance whose questionable dealings have put her in danger. But a campaign to improve the hospital image may just undo everything even if she manages not to lose her heart to handsome Micah Prescott, the hospital marketing expert. When her past and present converge, Sloane finds herself in danger for her life and learns some very valuable lessons about love and forgiveness.

Not only is “Maybe It’s You” an enjoyable romantic medical suspense but it also tackles some pretty weighty subjects such as alcoholism and sex trafficking. The suspenseful plot escalates with each chapter but is relieved at just the right times by a bit of romance or humor. Sloane was such a caring person despite her own problems that it was easy to like her character and Micah just improved with every chapter. I loved how he gently led Sloane to faith. This novel left me with plenty to think about. I would recommend it to all who enjoy a good medical suspense.

Maybe It's You is the third book in the Crisis Team Series by Candace Calvert. These books are great, because they use accurate medical terminology without overloading the story with professional jargon. The author knows how to balance reality with readability. Lovers of medical romances will once again appreciate Calvert's talents.

The story is emotionally charged on many levels. This is not an easy, light-hearted read about a romantic development. The plot delves into many difficult and thought-provoking topics. The story causes readers to self-reflect and consider how what they have learned can be used to change and improve their lives.

There are some mysterious and sometimes intense scenes. Calvert does not hold back in allowing readers to understand the sad and harsh realities many people face in life. These scenes are done in such a way that readers will feel the gravity of the situations but not have to read graphic details. This book was well-written and quite potent. Although there is much that is unsettling, there are many positive messages in the novel. It is hard to say a book about these topics was enjoyable, but certainly the story was worth taking time to read.

Maybe It's You is the third book in the Crisis Team Series full of drama, romance, suspense, pain and much hope.
Sloane Ferrell is an ER nurse who is trying to escape and forget a very painful, hurtful past. Sloane struggles with forgiving and being forgiven, her scars run deep. Sloane is very good at her job and goes to extra measures to help those who are also struggling with pain in their lives.
Micah Prescott works in marketing at the hospital and is also a Volunteer Crisis Responder, which requires a big heart for helping the hurting.
Micah wants to help Sloane, if she will just let him. Sloane carries very painful memories from the men in her life and is afraid to trust or allow anybody to get close to her.
Candace Calvert, the author, is a retired ER nurse and did a great job with the trauma faced in this book, including human trafficking. She shows that we always have hope and our great need for forgiveness. I recommend this book and thank NetGalley for allowing me to read and give my honest review.

If you’ve read the previous book in Candace Calvert’s Crisis Team series, you’ll remember Sloane as the antagonist to that book’s heroine. And chances are, you didn’t think much of her.

An author who takes an unlikeable character and creates a story where I not only sympathize with that same character but also root for her HEA is rare. Calvert manages to tell Sloane’s story in a way that resonated with me. Her poor decisions from the past aren’t justified or glossed over but they build depth to the person Sloan is striving to become.

And when she gets to know Micah Prescott, she beings to believe she is worthy. But Micah has his own past regrets and demons he’s holding on to.

Maybe It’s You kept me involved from chapter one, rooting for Sloane to accept those in her life who want more for her—friendship, acceptance, forgiveness, grace, and perhaps even love.

The Crisis Team series allows readers a small glimpse into the lives of family, friends, and witnesses after tragedy strikes. In a world filled with too many horrible news bites, learning about people who have a heart for those left behind to pick up the pieces is refreshing and encouraging. Calvert manages to bring those people some well-deserved recognition through her books.

Sloane has a past she seems to always be on the run from. She is now in LA and hopefully and the right path, however will the past catch up with her again and send her on the run, or will she finally be able to hide in plain sight? Micah has the goal of rebranding the hospital and finding the face of hope. When the past seems to keep coming up and his friend starts to uncover information on the one person he seems to have in mind to be the face of the hospital. Will he be able to work together and convince Sloane she is the face or will the past be just to much to handle?

Where do I even begin, this book was amazing. At first I wasn't sure where it was going but quickly the storyline grabs you and draws you in and you find yourself sucked in and needing to know what happens next. The suspense in the book truly add to the twist in turns in the book. There are some really tough subjects dealt with in the book that just adds to another element to the story. I love how the author adds the element of grace and forgiveness in the book not just with God but with each other. I just loved the end I really wasn't sure what was going to happen but the author kept you guessing to the end. I also loved how everything was followed up at the end with an epilogue if tied the book up perfectly. You seriously can not go wrong with this series such a fun group of books.

This was a great book that I couldn't put down!
We had previously been introduced to Sloane in her last book Step By Step, so we know a bit of her background and what made her leave her last hospital. While you can read Candace's books in any order, I would recommend that you read Step By Step before you read Maybe It's You just so you have a bit more understanding about her past. Maybe It's You also includes a cat, Marty which ups the cute factor in this book (can more books includes cats please!!!).
One thing I really loved about Maybe It's You was that none of the main characters were perfect, in so many Christian books the main characters are seemingly perfect and its how they deal with their struggles - which isn't a bad thing just not that relatable in this day and age. Where as these characters are each dealing with their pasts and how that made them see themselves in the present day. Sloane has lived in fear for so many years and now she finds a place where she wants to stay and things are holding her back from opening up to people and putting down roots.
Sloane has never had it easy and we can see how that affects her judgement and how willing she is to trust people.
At the beginning of the book Sloane takes comfort in knowing that she has rescued her cat Marty and believing that she can rescue herself. Throughout the book she begins to slowly realise that she may need people (and God) to help rescue her.
I loved the storyline and how the characters just wove together with it beautifully, the love of God also shone through. I am all about the characters when it comes to books (and movies and TV shows)and they need to have good chemistry the characters were amazing and just connected so well together, I just love how even small characters were connected in with the book perfectly. I read so many books and at least half the books I read are Christian Fiction so I know this genre and these things really made the book stand out for me.

the third book in candace calvert's crisis team series, maybe it's you, is a slow burn. a real slow burn. and it's not the christian romance angle that makes it so slow. i've accidentally picked up other christian romances before, and while i prefer things to be steamier, and less god talk in my romance novels, i still just love romance in any form, so those two things are easy to get past.

it's just that at 40% of the novel i couldn't believe i still had 60% to go. and i think it's partly because there is so much going on here other than romance. this is a medical romance, so there is a lot of hospital scenes, and we get some extended patient care scenes. the author is a former trauma nurse, so clearly knows what happens in an e.r. and understands how hospitals work. but i wanted more interaction between the two leads and cared less about the different medical cases sloane, our heroine, would be handling.

unfortunately, it's not until about 40% in that micah, our hero, and sloane get any decent one-on-one time. once they finally start interacting, and having conversations that don't devolve into sloane ranting and raving at micah for things that aren't true, the novel gets less frustrating. sloane is kind of a mess of a human being: she was maybe sexually abused as a child (the book strongly insinuates this but refrains from spelling it out which is kind of frustrating), her mother was an alcoholic and addicted to prescription drugs and was "killed" by sloane's stepfather (though he claims he did not drown her, it was his negligence that caused her death), her ex-fiancé is connected to the russian mafia and they are after her in order to get to him and the money he stole from them, sloane herself is a recovering alcoholic. when she moves to los angeles from san diego to start over she changes her name from ronda sloane wilder to sloane ferrell.

it's no surprise that people eventually figure her out. but it takes so long for anything to get going on this. there's also a whole subplot about human trafficking perpetuated by the same russian mobsters out to get sloane's ex, and the two stories do eventually tie together. but when we start seeing things from the point of view of people in that story line, it's more intrusive than interesting.

the overall story is fine, i just wish we could have seen more of the characters interacting in a positive way earlier because by the time things really start to get going in the relationship department, you're almost halfway through the novel.

MAYBE IT'S YOU, the 3rd book in the series "Crisis Team," by Candace Calvert. Another great story with the medical side, but also of one with personal fear. We meet Sloane whose step father was in prison for manslaughter. She is an ER nurse, everything else is new; to her home having 3 locks, landlady respects privacy. An ex fiancé who has unpaid gambling debt. Then comes Micah, the marketing man,who wants to improve the hospital image. Looking for that star to use for the fund raiser.
Sloane would be perfect, but it's a no go, with her.
Anger that they both are carrying, and realizing and taking steps ahead instead of hiding. Excellent reading, again by Candace Calvert.
Given ARC by Net Galley for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

This book grabbed my attention right from the start and did not let go. Er nurse Sloane Ferrell is hiding from her past. And let me just tell you there is a lot to hide from. Even though her childhood and past is not all good, Sloane is trying to become a better person. She is very kind and loving towards those in need, but she also tries to keep her distance from others avoiding personal relationships. Micah Prescott is intrigued by Sloane from the first minute he saw her helping a young girl. Wanting to get to know her better, but finding that difficult since Sloane seems to dislike and avoid him. There is a lot that happens in this book, it really keeps your interest and makes you not want to put it down. It reminds us of really life struggles people can be dealing with, and to not judge others because honestly we don't know what they have been through. Having a little compassion and grace can go a long way. It's also deals with real life issues like human trafficking. I had a wide array of emotions while reading this book, but truly enjoyed and loved it!!!

For a Christian romance this was probably one of the best. Sloan and micah's journey is different but deep down the same. Learning to forgive others and themselves of heartache and abuse. The one thing that got me was the line "what would you tell your younger self?"

I’ve been anxious awaiting Sloane’s story since snippets about her were included in previous books in this Crisis Team series. I must admit that she wasn’t a very likeable character prior to this book, so I wondered how the author was going to transform her into a heroine I could admire. I needn’t have worried; Candace Calvert rose to the task! She created a totally believable back story for Sloane and turned her into a realistic, relatable, and endearing character. Micah was also an amazing main character with his empathy for, and interest in, other people. With a lot of suspense caused by Sloane’s past added in, the story quickly captured my interest and kept me entranced from the first page to the last.

Maybe It’s You has a powerful message of forgiveness, hope, and redemption woven through it. It was integrated so seamlessly into the story that it didn’t feel preachy or overpowering.

I have to admit that I’m hooked on Ms Calvert’s books. Her medical background brings so much depth and dimension to her writing. I love how she integrates her knowledge into the story without making the details too technical for the average reader. Her writing is crafted intricately and so carefully written that it flows beautifully and captures the emotions of the characters perfectly.

Good book, easy read, characters are well developed, easy to follow the story but complex enough. it's about a woman, Sloane who has a past she'd like to leave behind, but follows her to a new town even though she has changed her last name. A relationship develops between her and a co-worker Micah, and the story unfolds around them and how they deal with her past as it comes back to challenge her.

This is the third book in this series but can be read as a stand alone. Suspenseful, with lots of action but not a lot of medical scenes. The story mostly focuses on Sloane, an ER nurse and her past that she's running from. Sloane had such a compassionate heart and willingness to serve but had a hard time forgiving herself. This is a great story about God loving all his children. Highly recommended.
