I read this book for Netgalley and the publisher five years ago. I remember enjoying it but it wasn't a five star. I'm not sure why my review didn't get posted on `netgalley or anywhere. And I don't remember enough to write a good review.

Jake is back for more adventures! I was glad to be along for the ride. I love his wit and the plot kept me engaged and interested. I highly recommend.
Many thanks to Mason Alley Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

A quick read. This is an interesting thriller that is, as these things are, sometimes implausible but the characters are well drawn and it is a page turner.

Fiction, Mystery, Thriller, Suspense

The story begins with Riley and Karl preparing dinner in a house on St. Kitts. Karl stopes suddenly when he sees the Fat Man, Philip Agatha. As his last act, Karl throws Riley over the deck to save her life. Riley arrives in St. Pete, Florida looking for Jake Travis. She wants his help to find and destroy Agatha. To accomplish this, Jake volunteers to go undercover for the FBI.

Jake enlists the help of two friends while he is on the Gail Force, the yacht owned by Agatha. He meets a young woman named Christine onboard. She is his escort around the Bahamas and Key West. Christine explains her situation and the role she plays for Agatha. Jakes does not want her to be caught in the net when Agatha is brought in. He must use every trick he knows to get out alive.

The book is well written and is mainly told in the first person point of view. The characters are developed and likeable. If you like fast-paced action mysteries, I think you would like this book.

Robert Lane delivers again. I love his sarcastic wit, his quick pace and his supposed devil-may-care attitude in general. A great summer read.
I was intrigued by the choice of Phillip Agatha's name--wonder what the driver was on that name.
The book is worth reading if only for the romp in Kathleen's library. What a hoot!

Jake Travis is back in the second installment of the Jake Travis series, The Gail Force by Robert Lane. Jake goes undercover for the FBI to expose a corrupt art dealer and murderer, Phillip Agatha. While on Agatha’s yacht, The Gail Force, Jake is distracted by Agatha’s alluring assistant, Christina, and also finds that he has inadvertently put a young woman on Agatha’s death list. Jake is not certain if there is anyone he can trust, and finds that his life and others are in grave danger. It also seems that Jake underestimates just how powerful and ruthless Agatha really is, and by the time he figures out that Agatha is a veritable opponent, it may be too late.

Travis is an interesting and unique character; he gets into scrapes that would, for any normal human being, be impossible to get out of. He does have some friends that help, but the scenarios are not wholly believable. However, they make for some great suspenseful reading.

Lane is an expert in creating horrible villains to keep Travis on his feet; Agatha seems to be the worst of the worst, but up until now, has always come out a winner. The story will keep readers on the edge of their seats, especially since Lane has a distinct writing style that will have readers clamoring for more. There are ups and downs, unexpected turns, and plenty of danger to the likeable characters.

The suspense begins to build at the beginning of the novel, and doesn’t let up until the unexpected dénouement. Lane has emerged as a viable mainstream author of suspense, and his novels will appeal to thriller aficionados everywhere.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Without question, Robert Lane is a master storyteller. I never have time to read a book in one session and found myself picking this one up at all times of the day to find out what would happen next. The plot moves at a pace which made it very difficult to put down.
Jake Travis is a very believable character and I 'm already looking forward to reading about his next exploits later this year.

Robert Lane has created a cast of characters who deserve to survive for years to come. Jake Travis is a flawed hero with very personal view of right and wrong, a meandering moral compass, that generally keeps him on the "right" path. Jake's insecurities and fallibilities are shared with the reader in the first person, while he bluffs his way out of trouble with a sharp mind, a sharp tongue and even sharper wit.
His friends are loyal and resourceful, the sense of trust and camaraderie oozes through the humour bristling on every page. Well, all of his friends except Hadley III that is.
I'm really looking forward to the next adventure.

This was the second Jake Travis book I've read and I enjoyed it just as much as the first. The character is charming and witty and James-Bond-ish in a beach bum kind of way. He cleverly infiltrates and shines light on the intricate world of "bought"blackmail. The writing keeps you hooked and Jake is such a multi-dimensional hero, the book is a sure bet.

Thanks to Mason Alley Publishing and Netgalley.com, as well as the author, for allowing me the opportunity to enjoy this read.
