I wanted really hard to like this book, and I'm the perfect person to do so: I'm a female attorney, already familiar with the author's reputation, and went to the law school that her biographical subject, Clara Foltz, went to. Living in the Bay Area for many years, we have crossed paths with many of the same people. This book was of interest to me, but I fear, not to too many others. It was just so carefully written and not dynamic at all. I've read books recently by Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Sonia Sotomayor, and while they were of a similar era as Babcock, much more of their personality shone through in their writing. I just wished for more from this book.
