I truly LOVE the writing style and approach that Liz Curtis Higgs takes in her introduction to "31 Verses to Write on Your Heart." She does not loft herself above or preach at her readers. Instead, she takes them on her journey to where and how her Faith began to deepen to the point that scripture became the ultimate truth and comfort for her.

I would recommend this book specifically, by title and author, to any patron presenting as female who shows a desire/requests a scripture based devotional, book to grow their familiarity in scripture and the Christian faith.

Firm and enthusiastic about her beliefs, Higgs still makes this book accessible to those who are not at the same point in her faith that she is. It's commendable.

I have read Liz Curtis HIggs before, and even met her once. She is a delightful speaker and writer and this book is certainly on par with her others.

This is a great book to get you focused for the day.

have yet to read a Liz Curtis Higgs Bible study that has not pulled me more deeply into God's Word, and her latest devotional does not disappoint. First, each devotional is a short study of one particular Bible Verse. Almost all of the verses are ones that most Christians have either memorized at one time or another or are ones with which they are very familiar. I found many of them to be among my favorite Bible verses. Second, Liz takes each verse and breaks it in to phrases and sometimes single words and explains it more fully based on her extensive study of the Bible. It made me take a more in depth look at what this verse really meant. Finally, Liz includes a tip at the end of each short study to help the reader learn to memorize Bible verses.

I would highly recommend this devotional to anyone who wants a short devotional to use each day during their devotional/prayer time.

A new Liz Curtis Higgs is a treat indeed and I had 31 Verses To Write On Your Heart in my hands! As I cracked the spine of my e-edition (Side note: who were these spine-crackers that inspired this shocking practice and phrase *gasps*?!), I knew I was in for a fun challenge!

Each day (chapter) she tackles a new verse, familiar and often said to be a favourite by Christians, and breaks them down. Word by word, she infuses new meaning into words I know so well! She simplistically conveys massive and important concepts and has 31 great tips to memorise scripture! Tucked at the end of each one is a way to apply the verse to your life today as well as a study section at the back of the book to dig into each verse deeper. It really has it all and you can do a day in about 10 minutes, which is great!

Favourite lines include:

“As a writer, speaker, teacher, and, most of all, a woman who loves Jesus, this is my constant prayer: “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.” When His loving words are in our minds, they are far more likely to pour out of our mouths.”

”Any verse with an exclamation point warms my heart…”

”If is an open door, revealing endless possibilities and overflowing with hope.”

”Tiqvah, the Hebrew word for “hope” or “expectation” in this verse, literally means a “cord”, something a believer can hang on to.”
Liz can really make me giggle! The anecdotes, filled with humour, not only liven the book up and cheer the reader on but also help make the Bible truths stick! She is such a great storyteller!

I loved this book and have already recommended it to several friends! It is a delight from start to finish and it thoroughly refreshed my soul whilst challenging me to reach for more in my relationship with God. Five out of five!

I love Liz Curtis Higgs and everything she writes. Although I typically prefer her fiction, this was a nice change of pace. I have been working on getting more portions of the Word in my heart and mind, so I picked this title up. In her typical, "girlfriend" style, she is an encourager and Bible teacher. Her insights helped me dive deeper into the Word and remember their significance as I commit them to memory. A great resource!

Liz Curtis Higgs is a favorite author of many. In her new book, she takes an in-depth look into 31 verses , explaining the importance of why and how to memorize these verses and how to put them into every day use in our lives.
This is much more than a devotional, it digs deeper, more like a study. I found this book to be quite helpful and a great reminder that verse memorization is so important.
Ms. Higgs begins with one of my favorite verses Proverbs 3:3 “ Let love and faithful ness never leave you; bind them on around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart”. This is to remind us how important verse memorization is. This is the first step and our first verse into the journey that she leads us on.
All through the book you will find yourself being drawn in deeper and deeper into the word. She also gives you a chapter by chapter tip on memorizing verses, which can be very helpful for those who think that verse memorization is a hard chore. She also will ask you what does this verse mean to you? You leave the readings with a deep thought in God’s word.
