The illustrations are super cute, and I loved the fact that there were several autochthonous Australian animals featured. However, I felt the story was repetitive and inconclusive.

Cute story about a young echidna (spiny anteater, native to Australia and New Guinea) who is forced to learn patience while waiting for his spines to grow. He asks other native animals how they obtained something unique to them ( a kangaroo's spring, a bird's call, and more). But following their advice does not cause his spines to grow. Mother (Mum) comforts him by explaining that sometimes things happen more slowly--but they will happen with time and patience.

A sweet story to help children learn about the virtue of patience and that we are all uniquely created.
