I have not read the novel, but after coming across this book I highly doubt it that I ever will, because this one was just so lovely! Great characters, great illustrations that really kept me going on with the read. It was a great first manga that I managed to read and finish!

Jane Eyre is a tale of determination, facing life's obstacle without hesitation! It's a tale about moving on.. I loved Jane. She is such a brilliant strong woman!! (Her character art is damn pretty as well <3 )

A thoroughly enjoyable read!!

This was my first experience reading a Manga book.  The illustrations were so beautiful and the author did a great job of capturing the story and spirit of Jane Eyre.

OMG. THIS BOOKKKK.
Ok, I really liked this book!! I have a normal edition-that is not manga-that I bought three years ago and I still haven't read...But now that I liked this manga version, I am definitely going to read that one.
So, Jane Eyre's life is really tragic. I mean, REALLY. She is an orphan, as a child she is abused by her aunt and her teacher, then the boy that she loved was a LIAR and tried to manipulate her. There were a lot of things happening there. Although, poor Jane stayed true to herself and her values. She is very genuine, innocent, with low self esteem, impulsive...not the type of character I usually like, actually. But then, she fell in loooove with Mr. Rochester(I wouldn't say this is love, it's kinda an obsession/ilussion). Mr. Rochester, as intelligent as he is, plays with Jane's mind but he finds in her a way to be a better person.
The illustrations in this manga were absolutely beautiful and captured the essence of the story! I really loved the hairstyles of the characters and the little details.

Manga Classics: Jane Eyre (Paperback)
by Stacy King
The English version of the Manga retelling of the story. I found it hard to read this book on the nook because of the backward order of the pages like Japanese Manga comics. But the flow of the story although interrupted is still represented in an up to date concept. I find this a great story introduction for young children to classical books, its similarity to many modern childhood stories showing kids how things have similarity over the decades.

A lovely and enjoyable adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s classic into manga. I would recommend it to those who are afraid of reading hia classic but are interested in the story nonetheless.

I like manga and I love Jane Eyre, so I thought I would love the combination. Unfortunately, this version of Jane Eyre is too pretty, and I felt it lacked...something. As I'm writing this, I'm reminded of the manga Emma, which is set in Victorian England, and I think the style of that manga would work better for Jane Eyre. It's got simple lines and has a tender yet solid look.

Because this is a visual representation of Jane Eyre, the art is really important to me. The art in this version was what I'd expect to see in a run of the mill romance manga, slick and pretty. I think this version made Jane too cute, her hair flowed freely down her back throughout the childhood section, for example, which didn't ring true, but it was pretty. On top of that, the dialogue seemed choppy. I was disappointed. There was no Jane Eyre magic for me here.

I love this manga and recommend it to anyone who enjoys manga, or the classic Jane Eyre story. The manga version of Jane Eyre is so beautiful! They do a wonderful job turning the story into a manga, as Stacy King always does. Check out all of her manga books if you haven't already. I'm so glad NetGalley let me read this, thank you so much! The art, story, characters, and everything about this manga/story was great. It was a bit of a long read, yet I didn't mind at all. I gave this a 5 out of 5 stars.

Such a fun adaptation of the classic story! Students will love this classic story because it is made more accessible with manga.

I have tried to read Jane Eyre a few times before, but always got lost along the way. The story was good, it just didn't seem to hold my attention. Reading it in manga format was an entirely different experience for me. I flew through this book, as I was able to see what was happening, as well as reading a bit. With the illustrations, I was able to retain more of the story, so I didn't end up getting lost. Definitely one I would recommend picking up if you are interested in the story but the language seems a bit difficult for you. As with the other Manga Classics in the series, this one had stunning artwork and I loved each of the new illustrations as I turned the pages.

Honestly, I haven't read Jane Eyre yet and I love reading manga. So seeing this classic adapted into one, I decided to give it a try. I love how manga makes it fun and interesting. I cannot judge it by its accuracy though but I can say that I enjoyed the read. I save a lot of time reading and understading the story (I am a slow reader especially with classic novels, I'm not sure why but they're sometimes hard to comprehend, or is it just me?) So if you're like me who haven't read it yet and want to kniw what it's all about, or even if you have read the novel already, you may want to check it out and enjoy it. Its interesting hiw a classic looked like with the graphics.. I enjoyed it enough to want to read the actual novel.

I am so happy this classic adaptation exists!
I've always adored classics but I never got around to reading too many of them but I know how challenging the writing can be. Having an illustrated adaptation makes the experience more enjoyable and engaging and I am grateful I had the chance to experience Jane Eyre this way.
Every chapter ended with a little cliffhanger, which definitely kept me hooked even though this was my second time reading this classic. The illustrations are BEAUTIFUL and very atmospheric.
However, I do have to say that, at times, Mr. Rochester seemed to be out of character, which was a bit annoying. He's such a complex character, so I can see the difficulty in portraying him.
Overall, a very enjoyable read. If you love Jane Eyre or you always had a hard time getting into a classic, give this series a go!

Beautiful art to make this story even more wonderful. Jane Eyre has been my favorite classic for years and this was great way to live through this story once more

Jane Eyre is arguably one of the most read classic books of all time, and yet somehow I've never read it. Not once. Whoops. I've watched the Crash Course video, but somehow I don't think that counts. This version is an illustrated version from Manga Classics, and yes I know comics and manga are different, but the easiest thing to say is: this is an awesome comic.

Manga Classics have versions of tons of famous books, from Shakespeare to Mark Twain (I absolutely have to get my hands on their version of The Count of Monte Cristo, which is one of my favorite books of all time).

This is a great book for people who want to read more classics, (like myself), but who just can't find the time or energy to wade through all of them. The art style is simple and charming (black and white, as is the case with most manga), and really brings to light the characters. I'm definitely planning on reading more of their work in the future (I already have Sense and Sensibility downloaded, thanks to Netgalley!) and I hope I enjoy it as much as I enjoyed this one!!!

This was my first experience reading a proper manga, so I chose to start with a book I love and it was a great decision.

This manga captures the essence of this story and the drawings were simple, yet spot-on. The one thing that didn't exactly fit was that Rochester was too cute and the book describes him as ugly. However, being in love with him as I am, I loved to see him looking all handsome.

Five stars!

This is such an unique way to read the classics!
Definitely recommend if you want to read some classics, but in a quicker and easier way since classics are sometimes hard to read.

I am very fond of these adaptations of classics for manga, not only for the fidelity to the original book as for the care with the graphic adaptation as for the final explanations of the writer and the designer.
In Jane Eyre manga, I came across with smooth story full of lyricism where the characters' feelings overflow the pages and the richness of characterization of them transmit well the personality of each one.
For those who do not know this is a classic dramatic work of Charlotte Bronte one of the famous Bronte sisters, writers who marked the history of world literature. As was said in the synopsis ...
"The novel contains elements of social criticism, with a strong sense of morality at its core, but it is nevertheless considered the front of its time, given the individualistic character of Jane and the exploration of classism, sexuality and religion."

The book tells the story of an orphaned girl who knows human cruelty early on and still does not lose hope of having a better life with every step she takes.
Dedicated, correct, loyal and extremely measured, she falls in love with her boss. A love impossible to the standards of the time for various reasons (the great difference of age and social class, the situation of his life, among others reasons) and that she tries at all costs to keep within herself.
Mr Rochester behaves, in my view, as a needy boy, a man desirous of attention and extremely romantic guy, with a big heart full of love. He, full of tricks, acts at various times to find out what Jane feels for him and this in the graphics is very clear, something I had not noticed much in the movie. (but I love the movie too, just for the record).
Another different detail of the film and that left the book complete was that the manga took the story to the end of the original classic which to the delight of fans completely closes this beautiful and suffered love story.
The cover for me is one of the most beautiful in is great collection. So cute, so sweet,so strong.
I need to say more? But I recommend it too much for everyone.

Jane Eyre is among my favorite classics and I was so thrilled to discover this manga adaption . Even if the story is a bit shorter and less detailed than the original novel , the essence is still well captured. Charming illustrations too !

My first manga, knowing the story made it easier for myself to become use to how they are read. First the artwork is amazing it’s quite fun to see a classic reimagined in this style. There are some liberties taken with the story that help to progress the story. However as the end of this novel says; it is able to keep in things that movies usually exclude, Rochester dressed as a women. A great way to experience a classic for those that may not want to read an entire novel. The story stays true through most of this so you don’t miss out on the story. Definitely will be picking these manga classics up!
