I found this a bit hard going but well written nonetheless.

This is a long, well researched biography about the Early Years of Franz Kafka. Unfortunately I also found this book way to long and dry. The author goes into lots of detail of not just Kafka's life but also his families' lives and life in general Prague. I found myself skimming over a lot of these extra details. The interesting parts for me was the development of Kafka as writer. The entire history of education in Prague was not as interesting. This book was published last in the trilogy but I suggest reading it first.
