'Warren the 13th and the Whispering Woods' by Tania del Rio and illustrated by Will Staehle is the second book in the series about a young hotel owner.

Warren's hotel is on the move and the guest are happy, until suddenly it falls over sideways new the Malwoods. Warren looks for a solution and gets replaced by an evil double who realizes he could sell the hotel to evil witches. Warren is now running to catch his hotel and making odd friends along the way.

I liked this second volume in this odd series. The characters and predicaments are fun as are the illustrations. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Quirk Books and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

I would have loved this book as a kid, and I still do. I think that students will like this book as much as I did!

I love this book so, so much! The sequel was as good as the first part if not better and I had a jolly good time reading it. Warren is just such a sweetheart that you can't help falling in love him and his merry band of unusual friends.

This book, which begins right after the first one ends, will not disappoint fans of the All-Seeing Eye. I love everything about this series: its voice, illustrations, stories, mood, etc. If you enjoyed Melancholy Life of Oysters boy, you'll enjoy the illustrations.

Warren the 13th and the Whispering Woods returns readers to the world of the odd looking owner of a traveling hotel. After a group of witches captures the resident witch finder, Warren soon is separated from his hotel with an imposter in his place. Frustrated, he must battle strange dentists in the woods, get his hotel back on track, and help rescue the witch finder mother of one of his closest friends.

Warren the 13th is a fantastic book, but a bit awkward for children. There are occasional moments that even make adults uncomfortable. This is definitely a book for folks who like the weird and morbid.

For those who loved the first Warren the 13th book, this is definitely more the same style and interest. If you loved the first, definitely grab a copy of the second.

Warren the 13th and the Whispering Woods picks up where Warren the 13th and The All-Seeing Eye left off. It was discovered at the end of the first story that the hotel could walk, so it became the world's first Traveling Hotel. In this story, the twelve year old orphan Warren the 13th is making a good living running the family hotel, that is until he gets taken in by a mimic. When the mimic traps him in a store and takes over the hotel, the trouble begins. I do not want to spoil the story except to day that once again the witches are involved. The queen, an especially powerful and evil witch, plans to steal the hotel for her own purposes. Warren is able to escape and now must cross the Malwoods, a dangerous forest full of sinister trees to save his hotel and rescue his friends.

I enjoyed this book more than the first. The characters are stronger and their friendships have grown. We see new characters and new situations. The messages of kindness, hard work, using your brain, loyalty, and the love of family and friends are strong in this book. Once again the illustrations add so much to the story that children will love it. A great addition to a school, public or personal library. Thanks to the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

The second book in the Warren the 13th series I felt was stronger than the first with a lot of action and plot twists. Just enough going on to keep engaged even though the book was fairly long for this age group. Great images.

This is the second installment of the Warren the 13th storyline. It is fantastic! I really enjoyed this one. Warren is now the owner of the traveling hotel, but is Uncle Rupert causes some significant problems for the new hotel proprietor. Can Warren and his friends cope?

The story is great, and the artwork is fantastic, as usual.

I honestly can't wait for the next Warren book. I hope there is another one in the future!

This sequel is a great adventure full of fun and adventure for late elementary school ages, both girls and boys. You don't have to read them in order, but I'd recommend it. It is full of memorable characters, as Warren tries to save his walking hotel from a coven of witches. The illustrations are wonderful and really add another dimension to this wonderfully told story. I loved the addition of riddles and small mysteries throughout. Highly recommend as a read alone or read together book for elementary school ages.

“I knew this was a mistake,” Sir Sap said, “Let’s flee before it’s too late!”

The Whispering Wood is perfect for circa fourth grade readers (maybe grades 3-6ish?). It’s lighthearted and fun, full of cool adventures, unique situations, and riddles. I haven’t read a book quite like Warren the 13th before, apart from the first in the series (The All-Seeing Eye). My one regret is that the galley I read only included samples of the illustrations that so many others have praised.

While Sketchy was the highlight of The All-Seeing Eye, the sap-squatches are the delight of The Whispering Wood. Forced to slave for the witches if they want to eat, they perk right up when they get just a little sap. In this story, Warren finds a new companion in Sir Sap, a polite, artistic sap-squatch who initially wants to eat him. They agree to help each other instead, Warren to regain his hotel and Sir Sap to end the slavery of his people.

From sap-squatches that feed exclusively on tree sap to a smarmy salesman with a carful of beloved snakes to a shapeshifter stealing Warren’s face and his hotel, The Whispering Wood is full of the unexpected!

My Media Center had ordered the first book in this series, "Warren the 13th and the All-Seeing Eye" when it was published. It proved to be very popular and I have no doubt that this next one will do the same. The story once again centers around Warren, the 12 year old orphan who is managing the worlds first traveling hotel. Needless to say, Warren and his employees are confronted by many obstacles, thanks to Caldera, Queen of the Witches.
The book has all the elements of surprise, fright, drama, and excitement that made the first book so much in demand. Once you begin reading, you will not be able to stop until you are finished.. The design of the book along with the dialogue and plot make it a definite winner.

Warren, the hotel which also bears his name, and all his friends are back for another adventure. Since he learned that his hotel can actually walk (it's a bit like a Transformer), Warren has plenty of guests to care for and life seems good. But that always seems to be when disaster strikes. An accident with a bottle of sarsaparilla causes a chain of events that leave Warren stranded in a small shop while the hotel and his friends travel on without him, unaware. What can a rather short child do to catch up with a hotel on giant mechanical legs?

This installment of Warren's adventures contains many humorous moments along with dangerous situations for our hero and his companions. Among the perils they face are a coven of witches, a mimic who can assume anyone's form, an angry sap-squatch (no, that's not a typo), and even a snake-oil salesman. But with Sketchy's perception and speed, Mr. Frigg's research skills (at times he reminds me of Giles from "Buffy"), Beatrice and Petula's magical abilities, and Warren's own ingenuity and determination, there isn't much that they can't accomplish together.

If you enjoy zany stories reminiscent of Roald Dahl, you should read the Warren the 13th books.

Travel with Warren through a dark forest and meet all the interesting characters that he encounters on his quest. Warren, Uncle Rupert, Petula, Mr. Friggs, Chef Bunion, Sketchy, and Beatrice are back. This book does pick up from the first one but not to worry as you can still read this book having not read the first one. However, I can tell you that after reading this book you will want to go back and read Warren the 13th and the All-Seeing Eye.

The characters that author, Tania has created for this series is great. They are all diverse but that is what makes them so great. Each one brings something fun to the story. Although, Uncle Rupert is just a big child in an adult's body. There were some super stars in this book. Petula, Mr. Friggs, and Sketchy all got more leading roles this time. It was nice to see Petula having that lead role. I got to know her better and she had a few new surprises this time. Of course, everyone loves Sketchy.

Additionally, this book took the readers outside of the hotel and introduced some new villains and friends. I can't wait to see what new grand adventure the gang encounter in the next book. Warren is a loveable hero. Warren for president!

Homely orphan Warren the 13th triumphed over a coven of witches and a lazy, malevolent uncle in Tania del Rio’s Warren the 13th and The All-Seeing Eye, thanks to the magical powers of his family’s hotel and his own perceptiveness and kindness. The Warren Hotel — planned by Warren the First and built by his architect son, Warren the Second — actually walks around! In this sequel, young Warren treats hotel guests to treks across the land. Unfortunately, due to an accident by Warren’s lazy, stupid Uncle Rupert, the hotel takes a tumble, and things only get worse from there — although I won’t spoil the book by detailing what, except to say that an especially powerful and evil witch determines to steal the hotel for her own nefarious purposes and that Warren has to cross the Malwoods, a forest just as sinister and dangerous as it sounds, to rescue the hotel and his friends.

Author Tania del Rio had a triumph with her debut book, Warren the 13th and the All-Seeing Eye, but the sequel is so much better! Will Staeble’s quirky two-color illustrations really enhance del Rio’s latest modern fairy tale. As with the first book, the sequel celebrates kindness, hard work, cleverness, loyalty, and the reality that your family are the people who love you, regardless of blood ties — or even species. A wonderful message for any age, but particularly in times of uncertainty.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and Quirk Books in exchange for an honest review.
