WildBlue Press and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Lockout. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

John J. Nance has extensive knowledge of the world of aviation, both as a pilot and as an analyst. This is evident in his novels, as his terror in the skies plot lines are intricately detailed and suitably frightening.

After the cockpit controls lose power for a minute, they come back online with crucial differences. All communications with the ground have been severed and the aircraft is no longer heading to their desired destination. As it becomes increasingly clear that the new flight path will take the airplane over restricted airspace, it is up to the pilot, copilot, and crew to figure out how to return home safely.

As the element of surprise is what draws me to reading the novels of John J. Nance, I do not want to spoil Lockout for other readers. I would suggest that this book be read while on the ground and preferably well before any scheduled flights. I am glad that this is a work of fiction, or I might have given it some thought before taking to the skies myself. Readers who like well written thrillers that take place in the world of aviation will enjoy, not only Lockout, but the other novels by this veteran author.

This is a book I couldn't put down . It is fast paced and action packed. The author takes us on a roller coaster ride . This is the first book I have read by this author and I was blown away . This is an intense read that will have you smack dab in the middle of the action .

The charactere are well developed and you will care for them . You will also have a few heart aches and attacks as you read what they go through on the plane . They are a great cast of characters . l

The author really uses his knowledge of planes and weaves them seamlessly into the story . They are motivated by their actions and not their personalities . This is a book that will keep you turning pages all night . So if you want a fast paced book that will keep you guessing this is the book for you

Even more pertinent in light of some of the recent aviation incidents in recent years - MH370, Germanwings, etc. A very good read.

I am so happy to find John Nance again. I had forgotten how great his books were. Lockout is no exception. It is well paced, building suspense, and encompassing the plane, the politicians, and the manipulations that form the base of the story. This was an easy to read book, hard to put down, but sorry it had to end. John Nance knows planes, and he also knows how to describe planes and plane related procedures in layman's terms. While this was not a totally original plot, as this type of thing had been mentioned for MH370, it showed how the theory could become reality. I enjoyed this immensely and plan to seek out his other books. Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read an early copy. I recommend reading this book as soon as you can get it, in whatever format.
