A gripping psychological thriller that I couldn’t put down. This book reeled me in from the start. I recommend this book to all psychological thriller fans.

Louisa is starting her life over after the tragic death of her husband and children. Louisa’s husband was having an affair with Sophie and now Sophie wants to destroy what’s left of Louisa and her life.
Solid domestic thriller that is dark and twisty and well worth a read. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Boy talk about a vindictive husband. Louisa lost her husband Sam and her children in a car accident. Now, she's trying to rebuilt her life but Sophie, Sam's lover, is out there and out for her blood. It's got twists and lots of drama. A good read.

This book is so difficult to like because over half of the story is just so painfully slow and the characters are not at all likeable. By the time things start to become slightly interesting I just wanted to be done with it.

I chose to read and review an eARC of Her Husband's Lover but that has in no way influenced my review.

Holy moly, batten down the hatches and take cover! This is one seriously intense book and I was swept up into its pages almost instantly. I've never felt so many emotions in the first 6% of a book before. Six per cent in and I was straight on Twitter to share how utterly compelling this story was and how it already had its hooks in me. Wow!

Louisa is rebuilding her life after the death of her controlling and manipulative husband, Sam. He always told her she would never escape him but she did, as the sole survivor of the car crash which killed Sam and their two children. Bearing the scars and the trauma of the accident, she moves to London to start a new life. But a face from the past won't let Louisa be. Sophie, Sam's lover, is out to wreak havoc and get what she's owed. Sophie won't give up until she's taken what she wants from Louisa, no matter what the cost...

Thank you for reading my review. I'm afraid that's it! There is no more because if I start talking about this book in any detail I'm bound to give something away and no one wants that. I am, of course, joking about the very short review but I am also very aware that I have to tread carefully with this one. It may be a little more vague and succinct then normal!

This is a twisty, twisted story and I savoured every moment I had with it. It took me longer to read Her Husband's Lover than anything else I've read recently because I was eking it out, making sure I was there in every scene with the characters, living and breathing their world. I was fully immersed from the get-go and my emotions were running high. There's an impending sense of doom throughout the novel, you're just waiting for something catastrophic to happen and it keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. What's the next move going to be?

Would I recommend this book? I would, yes. Her Husband's Lover is like nothing else I've read before and I would gladly pick up another book by this author (this is the first book I've read by Julia Crouch). I was a smidge disappointed with the ending but that was because I wanted MORE. I wanted to see it through to the bitter end and didn't want to leave the characters at that particular point. But as Barnum apparently said, "always leave them wanting more". All in all, an engrossing read which I savoured over the course of several days and will remember for some time to come. Recommended.

I chose to read and review an eARC of Her Husband's Lover. The above review is my own unbiased opinion.

I have loved the opportunity to spend time researching novels to re-stockl our senior bookshelves in the school library that plays a central role in the life of the school. When I first took over the library was filled with dusty tomes that were never borrowed and languished there totally unloved.
Books like this, play a central role in ensuring that the library is stocked with fresh relevant fiction that appeals to the readers. It has a strong voice and a compelling plot that ensures that you speed through its pages, enjoying both its characterisation and dialogue whilst wanting to find out how all of its strands will be resolved by the end.
I have no hesitation in adding this to the 'must buy' list so that the senior students and staff of the school can enjoy it as much as I did. This is a gripping read that will be sure to grip its readers whether they are fans of this genre or coming to it for the first time through our now-thriving school library recommendation system. Thanks so much for allowing me to review it!

I have really been enjoying the insurgence of domestic noir and psychological thrillers that have flooded the market over the past couple of years, however some of them have appeared to be very similar. Her Husbands Lover is definitely unique and Julia Crouch has written a brilliant novel which has so many twists and turns that the reader is left guessing to the very end. The book is fast paced and very addictive, I wanted to continue reading into the early hours however I also knew that if I did I would be thinking and dreaming about the characters and the storylines while sleeping which does not lead to a good nights sleep!

I highly recommend this read for anyone who wants a great read to get their teeth into and with characters that will stay with you for a long time.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

I put this book off time and time again, as the synopsis didn't grip me as it initially did. However, once I started reading, I was totally engrossed. The characters were colourful and multi-faceted. I was impressed with how they grew and changed throughout a matter of chapters, and how their experiences altered how the reader felt about them.

This twisty little psychological thriller is dark and addictive in all the right ways. I am amazed that Julia Crouch has flown under my radar all these years. Time to rectify that....

Where do I even start? If you read Gone Girl and loved it then this book is for you!! Its one twist after another in this brilliant thriller and I did not expect any of it. I was hooked!

Her Husbands Lover is easy to read and contains short chapters throughout. It is a cleverly written story that just grabs the reader, I didn't want to put it down. I have awarded four stars as I did find that it took a while to get into and to get to the good bit, but well worth waiting for. I enjoyed reading this story and would recommend to you all. I will be reading more by Julia in future. Clever, crafty and perfect thriller.

Whose version of the story do you believe? Everything is not as it seems...

This is everything I ask for in a psychological thriller. An unreliable narrator, twists and turns galore and changing my mind every two minutes. Fabulous!

A twisty, turny suspenseful read.
Highly enjoyable and well crafted.
Thanks to Headline and Netgalley for the review copy.
It got lost in by TBR pile, but so glad I found it!

Wow! What an awesome roller coaster of a ride. I truly enjoyed this book and read it quickly. Louisa was married to Sam, who died in a car accident along with their children. Sophie is the woman Sam was having an affair with and who is pregnant with his child. Sophie believes that Louise life should be hers and she sets out to take what she feels she is owed. The writing kept me intrigued and thrilled and entertained all at the same time. I could go back and read it again right now!

This is a dark psychological thriller that involves two women. Louisa and Sophie.

The book starts with a gripping lead.
An accident that involves Sophie, her children and her husband.

The accident only left Sophie, she had serious injuries.

She lost her husband Sam and children.

I am not giving anything away by telling you this as this is nothing to what you discover as you read more and more.
Sam had a lover Louise. He was going to leave his wife Sophie for Louise.

Sophie wants to take away and strip bare everything Louisa ever had from Sam.
Her inheritance, her reputation, and everything she stand for, even her life.

Louisa is heartbroken, Sophie is pregnant.

Louisa, the wife and Sophie the pregnant mistress.

This is a story darker than dark. You think it would be straight forward, jealousy, revenge, but no.
WHAM.

The ending will get you between the eyes, leave you gasping.
Then you stop, then you realise just how addictive this book was.
Superb.

My thanks to Headline in providing me with my copy

HER HUSBAND’S LOVER by Julia Crouch is a tense and dark psychological thriller. A woman has to stop her husband's lover from ruining her life.

“She stole her husband. Now she wants to take her life.”

Her Husband’s Lover focuses on two protagonists Louisa the brokenhearted widow who not only lost her husband Sam, but her two children in a car accident, and Sophie the pregnant mistress. The story is told from both Louisa and Sophie’s POV, past and present which works well for this novel. Both characters were well flushed out, and my opinions of both sides kept changing right until the end. I found neither character likeable, but I was drawn to the story to see where the author would take me.

“Sam said that she would never get away from him. That he would hound her to death if she tried to leave. Louisa never thought that he would want to harm their children though.”

“But then she never thought that he would betray her with a woman like Sophie. And now Sophie is determined to take all that Louisa has left. She wants to destroy her reputation and to take what she thinks is owed her - the life she would have had if Sam had lived.”

I found that this was not a fast-paced novel, but the story is unravelled slowly on a need to know basis, slowly building up the tension and will pull you in until the end. Nothing is what it seems in this novel and that’s what I enjoyed the most about this book.

Julia Crouch has written a brilliant and compelling psychological thriller that I would highly recommend to lovers of psychological thrillers and domestic noir. My only reason for not giving a 5-star review is because it's quite a long read, and I felt that certain parts could have been cut down.

Many thanks to author Julia Crouch, Headline publishers and Netgalley for the ARC.

I enjoyed this very much, despite being able to see the plot coming (don't want to give spoilers!). It was well written, with excellent characterisation and a lot of twists and turns. It could have been a bit shorter, but anyhow I read it over a couple of days and found it kept its pace right up to the end. I would definitely read more by this author.

Review of an advance digital copy from the publisher.

I really enjoyed reading this book. My perception of the characters changed so much as the story unfolded that I couldn't quite be sure where the story was going to end . My only criticism would be a rather too sudden ending for my liking. I would have liked everything more neatly tied up - it does leave some unanswered questions. Nevertheless a great , read and I would definitely recommend..

I was given an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
