4-4.5 ****

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Frantically entertaining. Robert Bryndza draws you in with these characters and spins pleasurable entertainment. I've now bitten one of my nails for the first time in weeks. Araghhhhh
These thrillers continually please me. The climaxes always bring anxiety and non stop action in their police procedural framework.
Can I mention the characters again? Because I love them. All the supporting characters and their storylines are thoroughly gratifying. Loved the Amanda Baker character in this particular series entry. Thought she was written perfectly. I've already nodded to Peterson, Moss and Marsh in my previous review and I'll simply repeat myself here in saying they're really effective and bring a lot to the table in these books. Some secondary characters in books are just simply there and fillers. Not here. I am as invested in them as I am in DCI Foster. I love the bond that's grown between Erika and her two fellow officers. She depends on them and they consistently show up for her and it makes my heart happy after everything she's gone through. Her emotional journey of healing is one I am ever eager to continue on with this author.

I also had to edit this review to add in how much I love how he ends his books. The last two especially. His last paragraphs in The Night Stalker and this one were perfectly devised because I will remember the last moments of each book as much as I'll have remembered the plot twist for some reason. So two thumbs up for that alone!

The only thing that held me back from a five star rating here was that I figured out the ending very near the beginning. Normally this would be enormously disappointing to me and would garner a lower rating. However, Bryndza's ability in his writing trumps this easily. It's fast paced and you don't want to put them down.

Can't wait for number four! There is going to be a number four in this series, right? Right?!!

4.5 Stars

With each book that I read in this series, I am becoming hooked faster and faster, while enjoying each story more and more, as I learn more about the police team investigating the crimes. It was lovely to not only see Detective Erika Foster again, but her previous partners Moss and Peterson, in addition to other recurring characters.

What wasn't recurring of course was the crime being investigated. Erika while searching for evidence on the case she was working on, stumbles across the skeleton of a child. It turns out its of missing 7 year old Jessica Collins, who disappeared without trace twenty six years ago, and was never solved.

Erika insists on being the SIO (Senior Investigating Officer) of this case, and re-opens the cold case with fresh eyes, and is determined to solve it, despite being told how hard it was first time around.

I was fascinated in seeing how this case evolved, with turns I wasn't necessarily expecting, as there just wasn't huge amount of evidence at all. I was interested to see just what effect the original investigation had on the detective in charge at the time Amanda Baker, who hasn't fared well. There were also other officers that caught my interest but not for the best of reasons.

Dark Water can definitely be read as a standalone book in this series, however to really get a feel for the characters you may want the background in detail from the previous two which are also excellent books.

I really enjoyed the small chapters where we could see something from a different point of view, but for the majority of the book had no idea exactly how it fitted into the story. Meant we had a bit more information than the police, but still not necessarily enough to know who committed the crime.

You may think that the danger level will be quite low given its a cold case, but whoever it was that got away with the crime all those years ago, is determined to stay undiscovered so anyone investigating now was potentially in trouble.

Dark Water is another thrilling addition to the Detective Erika foster series, and was another very interesting case at the heart of it. I also liked seeing some personal development from Erika, and look forward to seeing where the series goes next.

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

My favourite of the series so far, and yet another step up in style, these books just keep getting better and better.

This time round, it’s a cold case for feisty DCI Foster, who is doggedly determined to find the culprit, but just for once she might have bitten off more than she can chew…

Robert Bryndza has quickly become a firm favourite of mine in his genre. I love the character of Erika Foster and his writing style is fast paces and superb.

This tale differs from his last two stories as the body found is a historical case, but new murders are soon committed as people try to cover their tracks.

Can't wait for the next Erika Foster!

An exceptional knockout read.
Another brilliant Erika Foster case and another thrilling tale from the ever popular Robert Bryndza.
Thrusts the reader into the middle of a perplexing and brilliantly crafted mystery with a climax you would never expect.
Five Stars and a massive thumbs up from me.
The Audible version is fantastically narrated by the beautifully talented Jan Cramer who excellently brings each character to life.

Erika Foster is back and this time she's taken an unintentional step to solving a cold case of a missing child that has reared its ugly head when the underwater search team discover a bagged up skeleton during a drugs search. Erika can't get the case out of her head so being the tenacious strong willed woman she is, demands to head up the investigation even though it's not within her role. Is this the case that will break her as it did the previous investigating officer, Amanda Baker?

I love Erika, she's more settled in this story than in her previous outings however the investigation into Jessica Daniels ' disappearance is bringing up emotions that were buried deep down. Thrown into the mix is her sister and two small children taking an unexpected trip to the UK not to mention a mysterious pairing who are trying to stay on step of the investigation by any means. Erika's life is being turned upside down!

The whole Daniels family is a little odd, but then again who knows how they'd react to the disappearance of such a young family member followed by the splintering of the family through divorce. Grief can do strange things to people.

This fast paced crime thriller kept me guessing! Twisting and turning through the investigation, I thought I had it sussed until bang nope that's me wrong again!

I can't wait to read the next Erika Foster instalment from Robert Bryndza. These books keep getting better and better! The writing is so addictive; I felt drawn into Erika's world, unable to leave until I hit the end of the story!

Massive thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for my ecopy of Dark Water.

I've been a mystery/thriller fan since way back in the day and it's always been one of my go to genre's. The thing is..sometimes they get hyped up and they are a total suckfest. You know who did the deed and then the authors throw in everything but the kitchen sink.
Or a train..or a "Girl" in the title and think that's enough hard work.

This series by Robert Bryndza is actually one of the better one's that I've picked up over the last few years. He has a somewhat likeable female main character. (She isn't even perfect-and I like her even more for it.) He throws in enough to keep the reader interested without jumping onto the every-loving bandwagon that others have.

In this book Erika Foster starts off by finding the drugs that a bad guy had hidden, it isn't her calling in life but the woman has a hard time following the rules and this is where she has ended up. Then along with the drugs they find a 26 year old set of bones. Buried under water.
They are identified as Jessica Collins, the young girl that had gone missing that many years ago.
Then the twisty turny stuff starts. You have a former police woman that was given leave because she took matters into her own hands after she failed to solve the case, a whacked out grieving family..and a bad guy that you get just enough tid-bits of that you NEED to find out his story.

Pretty decent. I'm liking these books.
Keep it up Bryndza.

Once again, Robert Brynzda has me reading late into the night on the edge of my seat!
DCI Erika Foster is back in DARK WATER, the third book in the DCI Erika Foster series. This is one of my favorite British police procedural series. Erika is an amazing character who is flawed, driven, and at times extremely brusque and yet I cannot stop wanting her to succeed in her personal life as well as professional. She also has a great cast of secondary characters surrounding her that are all unique in their own ways.
At the beginning of this story, Erika is in a new district and no longer working murder investigations but instead is working major organized crimes. To put a major drug dealer behind bars, the local quarry is dredged to recover drugs hidden in the depths. The drugs are found, but so is the wrapped skeleton of a child. Erika cannot get the sight of those small bones out of her mind and fights to get the case assigned to her and to have Peterson and Moss moved to be on her team once again. The bones are 26 years old and the case has already destroyed one DCI’s career, but Erika and her crew refuse to quit.
This is a complex case with many plot twists and surprises. When you think you have it figured out, it takes a sharp turn in another direction and yet in the end, all the little threads come together in a very satisfying climax. With a fast paced plot and interesting, intriguing characters, Mr. Brynzda has delivered another exceptional addition to this series.
Thanks very much to Bookouture and Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this eARC in exchange for an honest review. This is an excellent book and series!
