Eve Dallas continues to fight for the dead, and being justice for those wronged. In this installation of the series Eve is after a serial killer that lives people lives in shambles and it's her job to find and stop them.

I always love when Eve has the assist of her billionaire husband, Roarke, they work perfectly together in both their wedding and in the investigation.

The mystery was so interestingly woven and it had my complete attention from start to finish.

* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Nora Roberts/JD Robb never disappoints! It’s actually been years since I read one of the Eve Dallas series and honestly they are as enjoyable as I remembered.

I think at this point in the series, readers know what to expect from Eve - and this book did not disappoint. Eve investigates a killer who brutally attacks couples - the mystery is good, Eve and Roark are great, and it is an enjoyable story!

J.D. Robb brings us back to the world of New York with Eve and Roarke. We catch up with them as they are driving home from an event and nearly run over a woman who seems to be hurt and confused. Eve has now gone into cop mode as they try to figure out what happened to her especially after discovering her husband dead and their safes empty. Eve, Peabody, and the rest of the gang must race against time as they try to figure out what happened before "the devil" strikes again. Will they get to the killer in time, or will he add more to his victim count?

J.D. Robb brings us back to the world of Eve, Roarke, Peabody, McNabb, and the rest of the gang of New York's finest. We get to follow along with them as they follow the clues and make sure they have exhausted all avenues. I always enjoy the banter between Eve and Roarke as well as Eve and Peabody. I love how Eve has surrounded herself with people who know her so well and have formed a family. I keep turning the page to see what happens next and how they piece together all the clues they have learned. I am excited when I get to the end to see what happens, but then sad because I realize that I have finished my time with them for now. Each new book is like visiting old friends and seeing what they have been up to. I always look forward to reading what Eve encounters next.

I received and read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this privilege.

This is book 44 in this series and while I have read a bunch of them I haven't read them all or in order I still always enjoy them. This case hit close to home for Eve, but I loved to see how her healing has impacted how she handles those types of cases. Eve and Roarke almost run over a woman who stumbles in front of them covered in blood. They quickly get her to the hospital and go to check on her home and her husband who is dead. This case quickly connects to two prior break ins where the women were assaulted in front of the men but this was the first murder. I liked this mystery and while I did guess the bad guy it was a lot of guess work as it wasn’t blatant. The characters were likable as always and I really liked the takedown a lot. This is a perfect summer read and definitely a series I will keep slowly getting through it.

I'm enjoying this in a very broad sense but I do realize that I usually read cozy mysteries for a reason. Thanks to netGalley for the ARC.

Echoes in Death is a great futuristic suspense involving Lt Eve Dallas and Roarke. These mysteries are written by Nora Robert using the pen name J.D. Robb. Her books always keep me involved and wanting to keep me turning pages.
I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for re-releasing this book. I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time.

The “In Death” series is an all-time favorite for me. This book is a good entry - the villain isn’t super obvious, and we get good content from most of Eve’s Scooby gang. The content here falls on the darker side of the crimes committed in this series, but it is a book well worth reading if you are an Eve Dallas fan.

4 stars. Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. These opinions are my own.

An Eve Dallas and Rourke book by J. D. Robb doesn’t really need an explanation. It’s the usual excellent writing, fast-pace, fascinating case to solve and what we really read for – all the relationships, especially Eve and Rourke.

If you haven’t already read Echoes in Death, do it now. If you have read it, why not read it again? I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

I love Eve Dallas so it's no surprise I loved this book too. I really enjoyed Rourke playing a crime fighting role in this one! It really starts off exciting and hooks you with the naked woman in a blizzard that they help!!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!

I liked this book and the series overall. The characters are interesting and they’ve developed a lot over the series. Mavis and Somerset don’t appear much in this book, but that’s ok. I think it would be nice if Eve was nice to Somerset. Although that would probably give him a heart attack since she’s always been rude to him since they first met.

It is amazing that this author can keep going to the well and come back with flawless, original plots! Everything is perfect: the plot, the characters, the pacing, the suspense...it's all there. Such a delight to know this author is consistently in top form and can be counted on to produce great suspense thrillers!

It's been a few years (not sure why) since I've read a book in this series and it was like coming back home after a long trip. The story hooked me in at the beginning and didn't let me go. I mean, how can you not want to know what happened that to a woman that she runs in front of a car while she's bloody, naked, and dazed. I loved the twists along the way as Dallas and others worked to solve what was going on. Now to attack the rest of the series.

Actually 4.5⭐️

I read this while on vacation and this was the perfect suspense to break up my usual romance reads.

Would recommend to others.

“Echoes in Death” is a late installment in the long running Eve Dallas “In Death” series. It delivers exactly what readers will expect, and that’s no bad thing – these novels are tightly written and very enjoyable.

In this installment, a victim of violent crime staggers into the path of Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke. It quickly becomes clear that she is not the only victim – her husband lies dead in their home. And as Dallas investigates, she discovers a series of like crimes which change the direction of the investigation.

As previous readers will be aware, these are crime novels with a light sheen of science fiction. They’re set in the 2050s United States, after a history of civil war. Certain scientific advances are taken for granted – ones that grow quite naturally out of today’s technology. Readers won’t find them jarring or lacking credibility.

The novels also tend to have a romantic sub plot, usually focusing on Dallas and her husband, the former criminal Roarke. I felt that in this installment, the romantic sub plot was a little less prominent than in others. The criminal investigation is always the focus, but here it felt particularly dominant.

It is a solid crime plot. For all that there are science fiction elements, this is a character based story concerned with what people do to each other and why. The plot is sufficiently challenging that it will keep readers engaged and reading, but it’s also easy to believe as it finally unravels.

I enjoyed this a great deal. The In Death novels stand alone, plot wise, although the characters develop through the series. This should, therefore, be enjoyed by both new and continuing readers of the series.

A slightly different angle this time and served up more of a procedural than usual. The whole book concentrated on one crime and we witnessed lots of police work as they tried to identify the killer. I liked that Eve appeared to have a very correct personal view of who was guilty but did not share it with the others, and therefore did not influence the investigation.. A very enjoyable read.

I agreed to read and review three of the "In Death" books a little over a month ago. I haven't read any of J.D. Robb's books previously, so I didn't know what to expect. I have really mixed feelings about this series.
I received the three books from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley for my Kindle. This is my own unsolicited opinion about Echoes in Death, the first book I read. I gave it a 3.5 which went to a rating of 4.
This is a futuristic tale dated in the 2060's. There are a few interesting things to try to give it a futuristic vibe. There are droids for housekeeping, "water tubes" rather than bottles or cans and Auto Chef units. The units sound kind of cool, program a meal and it happens. There is a command center in set up in the home of the lead officer which is an interesting situation. She brings her work home with her, involves her husband in it.
I wrote notes as I read the book. I was actually disappointed in the crass language, especially used by Lt. Eve Dallas. (I actually thought, the word is still popular in the future? They couldn't come up with something new?) I'm sure it was to give a 'tough leader' persona but as head of a unit, a leader, I just thought it was a bit much. (I spent years with a law officer father, cousins and their friends.)
The opening of the book immediately got my attention. This story has violence, murder, rape and severe abuse. I certainly felt sorry for the victims.
I wasn't the least bit interested in the sex life of the Lt. and her husband so skipped over those portions. I found the investigation interesting enough to keep reading. I did appreciate that Eve and Rourke seemed to make one another stronger. They support one another. Eve seemed to have a good 'gut 'instinct when working on the case.
It's an ok book. I wouldn't read it again.

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is a series that I enjoy reading and never hesitate to pick up. I enjoy this author's ability to pull me into the story from the start. This is an engaging story that is well written and hard to put down. I enjoyed how the author used details to make the twists and turns come to life. Eve and her husband are back in another suspenseful mystery. What happens when a naked woman walks in front of their car? This is where the story takes off and becomes a race against time. I enjoyed all the characters and their growth throughout the story made it easy to read. This is a story that I really enjoyed for the entertainment value. I highly recommend this book.
