Eva Dallas’ mysteries are always a treat. Didn’t read this before and it was a very entertaining read
Highly recommended
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

Love love
The characters jump out at you.
The author keeps you wondering what's going happen next in the series.
The main characters feel so real

Okay, Echoes in Death completely sucked me in from page one. I mean, Eve and Roarke are just driving home, minding their business, and boom—a naked, bloody woman stumbles into the street. Talk about an intense way to kick things off.
From there, it's a total rollercoaster. The woman, Daphne, is traumatized and keeps calling her attacker "the devil"—which, yeah, is super creepy and honestly sets the tone for the whole case. Her husband's been murdered, their house ransacked, and everyone around him seems to have a reason to dislike the guy. But this time, it's not your typical "the spouse did it" situation, and Eve knows it.
What I love about this book (besides Roarke being the absolute dream man) is how Eve does her thing. She's fierce, no-nonsense, and so laser-focused it's almost scary—in the best way. Her team is right there with her, and you feel like you're part of it all, digging into the clues, chasing down leads, and trying to make sense of this messed-up situation.
J.D. Robb has this way of making every case feel fresh, even 40+ books in. This one's dark, intense, and heartbreaking but also full of those moments of humour and heart that keep you grounded. If you're into gritty crime stories with a side of futuristic flair and characters you wish you could grab a drink with, this one's a no-brainer. I couldn't put it down.

I loved reading the mesmerizing and engaging suspenseful novel by the phenomenal, best selling author, J.D. Robb. Eve and her husband, Roarke, are on their way home when a woman runs into the street. The woman has been brutally beat up, raped, and Eve finds out her husband has been killed. There are two similar cases but the husband has not been killed. Eve and her partner, Peabody, are on the case to find the culprit before the next couple is attacked. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written full of mystery, intrigue, and romance (Eve and Roarke).

Déjà Vu Can Be Deadly (But Mostly Just Amusing This Time Around)
Well, it turns out my memory isn't quite as shot as I thought. About halfway through "Echoes in Death," I had this nagging feeling I'd walked these shadowy New York streets with Eve and Roarke before. Turns out, I had! The big "whodunit" wasn't so much a "whodunit" as a "Oh yeah, that again."
Still, even predicting the ending, it's J.D. Robb. You get your Eve grumbling, your Roarke being impossibly suave and rich, and a decent dose of pseudo-futuristic cop procedure (and the obligatory erotica that thankfully isn't as embarrassing as it once was). It's like comfort food for the thriller soul, even if the spice of suspense was more of a gentle sprinkle this time. Three stars for a case I felt I'd already cracked.

Rourke is the best H in any series !! Perfection. Love this series. Love him and Eve and watching how their relationship continues to mature and get stronger and stronger. Love the side characters and their growth !!
Storyline in this book was interesting and kept my attention. Author has the best writing style and knows how to keep you glued to the book. Couldn’t put this one down . Just as good if not better than other books in the series.

4/5 stars for me! There’s not much more I enjoy than a twisty mystery from my favorite author and this book did not disappoint.

This was another great additional to the series. Very emotional introduction to the case, and I loved the depth of involvement Eve and Roarke had with Daphne in helping her recover not only physically but emotionally and psychologically as well. I always love when the threads of Eve’s personal life pop up inconveniently - to her - in her cases.

Echoes in Death is the 44th book in the Death series. I have read most of the earlier books in this series, but haven't read any of the books lately. After almost running over a young woman coming home from a social event, Eve and Roarke rush her to the hospital what follows is a storyline filled with lots of blood and death. Previous robberies had not included the deaths, but all the other things were involved. I found this to be a entertaining read, and would recommend to others
I received an ARC from NetGalley, and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

The In Death series has always used its futuristic setting to address violence against women, abuse and power dynamics in a way which is uncommon for more contemporary mysteries. Echoes in Death, which was written before the Me Too movement, but really anticipated the anger and experience of so many women, involves a killer who seems to be stalking married couples. When Eve comes across Daphne Strazza, who has been drugged and raped and wandered out into the snow, she knows she is chasing someone who is brutal and ruthless.
The book is full of twists and turns, and the relationship between Eve and her police colleagues really does pop. While the headline of the series is the ongoing relationship between Eve and her husband Roarke, I admit I've always loved her relationship with her police partner Peabody, who continues to bring the compassion and kindness that every survivor of abuse wishes that they'd encountered from the police. In this book, the two work together to ensure that every crime victim feels heard and understood.
I admit that I guessed who did it in this book, but knowing the impact didn't keep me from enjoying how we got to the ending. This was both a thoughtful and a fun read, and I'd recommend to anyone who not only loves a romantic thriller, but is interested in how society treats survivors.

I'm always happy to return to the world of In Death and this was no exception. The opening was great and while it may be a little predictable, the characters in this series will always keep me coming back!

Dallas, Peabody and Rourke are solving murders again. After reading several "Death" books by Robb, I am finding them a little formulaic but still worth the read. Robb tells a good story and has a great imagination for this series that is speculative fiction, part romance, part mystery.

In ECHOES IN DEATH, written by J.D. Robb, Lietenant Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, are dressed in their finery and returning home after an event. They avoid driving into a woman, naked and bloodied, aimlessly walking in the street and take her to the nearest hospital. The woman’s husband is later found dead by Eve and Roarke. What is the cause of these horrors, and who is responsible? I read on to find out.
It is a pleasure to return to the In Death series and catch up with Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke. I like that the bones of the story are laid out in the first chapter. Right away, my interest is piqued. I am not a Sci-Fi enthusiast but must say that I enjoy the futuristic touches, droids and the like, add to the narrative. The character development is great. While the resolution takes longer than I think is necessary, all ends are sufficiently tied up. I look forward to reading other books in the In Death series. Thank you, St. Martin's Press and NetGalley, for the chance to read and review an advance reader copy of ECHOES IN DEATH.

What you signed up for, if you're already a series fan. All the near-future tech feels just as plausible, without the AI paranoia popular now; but as a starting place, it's subideal because it's more about Eve smoothing down her more dramatic expressions of PTSD. She and Roarke, her very high-class husband, are on a case that really could be more exciting in how they pursue it. Oddly, in this case that means less: less violent confrontations, less fraught choice of victims.
I recommend it to those who, like me, bounced off the earlier, ruder Dallas.

I can’t believe that I’ve gotten this far into my life without reading a JD Robb book. Well I’m hooked now and I have a lot of catching up to do.. The story opens full speed ahead and doesn’t slow down. I can’t wait to finish this book so that I can start another.
Disclosure: A review copy of this book was sent to me by the publisher. All of the above I opinions are my own

Although I have read many Nora Roberts books and found them all fantastic reads, I had never read one of her books written under the name of J.D. Robb. It was my older sister who first recommended I check them out as she has read most of them and loved the character of Eve Dallas. When I received an email from NetGalley where I could get an arc of Echoes In Death to read and review I didn’t hesitate. And I’m so glad I didn’t. This book was phenomenal! I too loved the character of Lieutenant Eve Dallas. She’s an extremely intelligent, serious cop that works hard to bring justice to those she serves. From reading this book, it gives you a peek into what her childhood was like but doesn’t go into too much detail which left me wanting to read this series from the beginning. I want to learn everything about her history, her childhood trauma, how she became a cop and how she met up with Rourke. The only thing I didn’t like about this particular book was that it was a little too futuristic and I didn’t always understand the police jargon used throughout the story. However, the case that she was dealing with was fascinating to read about and it had me glued to my kindle. I can’t wait to read more! I’d like to thank NetGalley and Macmillan Publishers for the arc to read and enjoy. I’m giving this a well deserved 5 star rating and look forward to reading more in this series very soon!

Thank you St. Martin's Press for the ARC!
I hadn’t read anything by JD Robb before this so I went in completely blind and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! The case was interesting and the way it all unfolded was unique in my opinion. Eve knowing but withholding her thoughts until she had her ducks in a row was interesting to me because I feel like authors like to keep that hidden and string you along. I liked that this was different!

Echoes in Death by J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts), Is a mystery/suspense novel that will keep you guessing. This is the first “In Death” novel I have read and is one of many. It is #44 in a collection of fifty-eight with two more on the way! The series follows Detective Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke in numerous mysteries.
Eve Dallas is a detective who works in New York City. Eve and her husband Roarke are coming home from an event when they discover a female walking the streets who apparently has been severely abused. Eve and her team investigate all angles and what they discover will chill you to your bones.
Despite not having read previous books in the series, the story and characters were easy to follow and enjoyable. I look forward to reading more of these thrilling novels. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Thanks to J. D. Robb, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for access to the Advanced Reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is number 44 in the continuing series of Eve Dallas novels by the author and it’s a great addition to the series. The story starts off with Lt. Eve Dallas encountering a dazed woman in the street while she is coming home from an event. This leads to discovery of a murder and there are more to come.
The book is well written with interesting and engaging characters. The mystery is interesting and moves along well with a nice resolution at the end. Recommended.

This is my first Eve Dallas novel, and I love the interplay between Eve and Roarke, as well as their backstory as revealed in this novel. The story begins with finding a stunned woman in the street. Right from the beginning, I was hooked by the story. The clues led to such a convoluted but fascinating string of crimes. This is one of the more interesting criminals I've read since the crime itself is a performance. And all the while, the dialogue is authentic yet also playful at times. I have a new author to follow, but I am starting so far into this series and plan to continue forward before backtracking. Thanks go to NetGalley for granting me a courtesy copy of this book. I was drawn into the story from the start, and the excitement and danger did not let up from one page to the next. This is an edge-of-your-seat read, but you better clear the afternoon because you will not want to put it down until the last page! Winning suspense and main characters that light up a scene!
