All In by Emma Scott is a good fit for readers who enjoy emotional contemporary romance stories about healing, friendship, and finding love again after loss.

So here’s the deal y’all: years ago, I got this on NetGalley, never read it, and then felt really bad. So now that I saw it was on Kindle Unlimited, I thought… what the hell.

I remember really liking the first book.

This one just… fell flat for me. I wasn’t invested in any of the characters at all. Didn’t really find the story interesting. Is it because so much time has passed since I read the first book? Maybe.

Amazing incredible book! This was the perfect follow up to Full Tilt. Definitely 5 stars and I recommend this to everyone that has read the first book. I needed closure after Jonahs death and this book gave it to me.

Gah! After I finished Full Tilt I WAS GUTTED!! I wasn't sure how my heart was going to heal again but Emma took the band-aids and stitches and mended my heart.

Full Tilt ends with Jonah saying something to both Kacey and Theo but we weren't privy to what he said to Theo. We knew what he said to Kacey but I wasn't sure how she was going to be able to fulfill his promise.

Once we found out what he said to Theo we were able to see Jonah's wishes. His selfless pure wishes. I'm not sure how anyone can have that much heart to see the truth of others when his truth was so daunting.

"No, my dear, "Olivia said. "You can't let go, but what is not the same as stuck. When you hold tightly to something behind you, you cannot move forward. The answer is to unclench your heart from the past. Close the door. Open a new chapter. Only then can you be free of the pain that haunts you."

Kacey can't be around Jonah's family so she leaves to try and start over. Unfortunately the past can't be let go and now she has to find a different version of the past that can be with her.

Again Emma has written another amazing book and here are some of my favorite quotes:

~ Lost in my head, unable to fathom the depth of my brother's heart. A man who told the love of his life, at the moment of goodbye, to love someone else.
And to his brother, a promise to love her...

You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. - Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

"The feeling you have in that moment right as you wake up, before your brain mucks it all up with thoughts and words? That very first feeling is where the truth lives."

"Time is the great healer," she said. "But you can't put your life on hold until the rest of the world accepts what you know is true in your heart."

"Where there is ruin, there is hope for treasure." She gave me another of her knowing smiles. "It's one of my favorites."

" . . . You're strong and brave, and you'd take all the pain if it meant making those you love feel it less. You shoulder that burden by yourself. You put on armor and put up walls. But inside, you have this gentle, loving soul. . . ."

I saw where this book was going and I saw glimmers of the this truth in Full Tilt but truthfully I wasn't sure how Emma was going to pull it off but she did. And she did it beautifully.

I truly loved this book but I loved Full Tilt more so that is why it gets a bit less rating. :)

4.5 Second chances loving thumbs up

While it took me awhile to get into I did like this book more than the first one. I enjoyed the first one but this was a great read. Tt was fun, slow burning and still gives lots of feels. I don't to give spoilers for book one or this book. It's a great series and I highly recommend

All In was an emotional conclusion to the Full Tilt duet.
I give It 5 “A Treasure In The Ruin” “Love has no limits” stars! ❤️

I think I cried my weight in tears in the first half of the book. Why did I do that to myself?! UGH. I was apprehensive about reading what was next in Kasey's life. I didn't want to imagine her in love with anyone else besides Jonah. Their love was something out of this universe and that book broke my heart.

This story didn't pack the punch as the first one did in terms of connectivity, for me anyway. I think I may have read this one too closely to the first book (only a couple hours in between stopping and starting them). I was literally bawling as I was reading the ending of Full Tilt, #1.
I was still on team Jonah. I slowly pulled around to team Theo though.

There was just as many painstakingly sad but wonderful moments in this book as Full Tilt had. I did find myself rooting for them. The chemistry she created between the two characters did translate well. The writing as just as solid as the first book. There was character growth.

Let me tell you though, you are going to need your tissues for this book as well! **IS THERE A SALE ON TISSUES?! I'M ALL OUT**

She definitely has a new fan as this series was my introduction to her writing. I will frantically try to find everything she has written now!

I was a mess when I finished Full Tilt. I was not prepared for that ending. I think that's why the story and the characters hit me so hard. Jonah, Kacey and Theo made such an impact and won't leave my heart any time soon. I appreciate Full Tilt and Emma Scott's storytelling even more after reading All In especially for the story and how she chose to tell it. It was truly extraordinary. This duet is nothing but epic.

I live Emma’s books SO much! Full Tilt was one of my favourite ugly cry books (I love those!) and All In did not disappoint!

Oh well... I had read another book by the author, The Butterfly Project, which had made me sob too, and Ari and Deanna told me several times "Don't read these books in public", "You're gonna cry...", you know, super helpful and happy stuff, eheh. Yeah, so I did cry, but I did love both books.

Emma Scott created some amazing characters and relationships. And was also able to wave such a sad, powerful and compelling story.

Both books deal with dark subjects, like alcohol addiction. And I don't want to spoil the story for the second book, so I'll just say that you might not see it coming, and in theory the storyline might give some people the wrong idea, but it's so well done and dealt with.

So, if you know what I'm talking about, but you've been shying away from the books because of it:
DON'T! THEY'RE AMAZING!

I knew the events that were going to happen on Full Tilt - because I was dumb, and read the blurb of All In BEFORE reading the first book, so... yeah... smart. EIther way, it didn't detract from all the feels and all the pain. Because Emma Scott's writing is magnificent. Both books are told in dual POV, and on the first person, and it makes us FEEL what these characters are going through.

What Emma Scott did with this duology was not easy, and it's remarkable how much she made me love both books, both stories, all the characters. We as readers go through a similar process as Kacey throughout the whole story, and we learn and accept in the process. Again, the writing is beyond great!

Like I said before, the characters are amazing and so well created. And they go through a massive character development, and it hurt at times, but I was ultimately so happy to see them all grow so much.

I'm being purposely vague on this review and there's not much more I would be able to say without spoiling the whole thing massively, so I'm gonna leave it as is, even if it's one hell of a mess...

I do advise you all to go and get this duology. I can attest that the audio version is amazing (as I listened to Full Tilt on Audio), so if you like audiobooks, try it, it will leave your hands free for all the tissues you're gonna need.

I LOVED this book! What more can I say? It was a very heartwarming and emotional read. I have also now bought them on kindle since they are under $3 each. I loved Kacey and Theo and the obstacles they had to overcome. I was definitely crying halfway through reading this and had to have kleenex nearby. I am now starting the econd one now! The author's writing was incredbly easy to follow, she didn't over-describe things or have slow moments in the book. I read it in one sitting!

Book Boyfriend:💋💋💋💋💋
Theo Fletcher is Jonah’s brother. In Full Tilt he came across as angry, sullen, and moody. He really is so much more. He’s kind of perfect. He’s kind, compassionate, loving, and giving. He’s trying to come to terms with his brother’s death, but feels the need to be there and be strong for everyone else.

Strong Female Lead:💋💋💋💋
Kacey Dawson is struggling with the death of her boyfriend, Jonah, who we met in the first book of this series (Full Tilt). She decides she needs to start fresh away from everything that is Jonah. She quickly falls back into her old ways – bordering an alcohol addiction. It’s bad. But, she’s a fighter and refuses to let it control her life again.
Plot:💋💋💋💋
Kacey and Theo are both dealing with the death of Jonah. Kacey decides that being in Vegas is too much. There are too many memories that she just can’t deal with, so she leaves without telling anyone. Theo and his family are panicked. Theo, by chance, finds Kacey and goes to make sure she is ok. She’s not. She’s using alcohol to cope and it’s bad. Really bad. He helps her through. Brought together by their grief for Jonah, an amazing friendship forms. Both develop feelings that are more than friendly for each other, but they battle with respecting Jonah – what is right and what is wrong.

Steamy Factor:💋💋💋
This is a slow burn done tastefully. Your heart still holds out for what Kacey and Jonah have, but Theo and Kacey are so good together. It’s really well done…and sexy too.

Overall:💋💋💋💋
The writing is fantastic. The characters are fantastic. This book is just as good as the first in the series. It will pull on your heart. Definitely worth the read.

5 ‘My heart is healed’ stars

I was an emotional wreck after finishing Full Tilt, emotionally hungover but unable to forget about the incredible story. I wanted time to heal before diving into this book, but I found that I couldn’t move on until the story was continued, until I saw these characters that I love so much get the happy ending they so desperately deserved, so I bravely clutched my newly-purchased box of tissues and dove on in.

And just a warning that this review will of course contain some spoilers for the first book, so if you haven’t read Full Tilt, don’t read any more of this review and go and get yourself a copy!

“You can prepare all you want for someday. Nothing prepares you for the day of.”

This book picks up six months after the end of Full Tilt. Kacey and Theo are both still reeling from their loss, but they’re not doing it together. Kacey has taken off to New Orleans where she is drowning herself in alcohol to cope with her grief, but she’s also started singing again and is using her music as an outlet. Theo is struggling not only to hold himself together, but also his family, while he works towards his dream of opening his own tattoo studio. But he drops it all when he learns that Kacey is in trouble, flying to her side and pulling her out of her spiral.

It’s the beginning of a beautiful friendship as Theo drags Kacey back to life, bringing her back into the fold of family and friends that she left behind, helping her to get her life on track, and pushing her forward to the point where she meets new friends that continue to help her move on. And through texts, phone calls and visits, the two friends reconnect, becoming closer than ever, and slowly, naturally and realistically, things begin to change.

For one short second, his hand rested on my shoulder. I wanted to take it and hold on all night, but the dark kept me limp and motionless. Still, I knew Theo was there. I wasn’t alone anymore. And that was enough. That was everything.

I love that these two found and fell for each other. Even amidst all of the emotional intensity of the first book, there were hints that it was going to happen, and I loved seeing it all come to fruition. It’s one of those books where you know where the story is going to go, you can even predict to some extent how it’s going to happen, but I was still completely sucked in and couldn’t wait to see it all unfold.

“God, don’t let me go, Kace,” he said around my neck.
“I won’t,” I said. “Never again.”

Their love story is natural and realistic, and full of feels. And while there was grief, confusion and some angst, I was so grateful that it was handled functionally and in a way that made sense. I could understand and empathise with what they were both feeling, and despite everything that was between them, I loved the strength that they had to follow their hearts and find their happiness together.

“Where there is ruin, there is hope for treasure.”

There were so many issues that could have arisen, but Scott never went down that route. Theo and Kacey were sensible, honest and upfront about everything that was happening between them, about their feelings and the challenges that they faced, and I LOVED THAT! And of course they were both so incredibly respectful of Jonah – his memory was honoured, his role in their lives was never demeaned, and he never became an ‘obstacle’ that they had to overcome. Though gone, he was still a treasured part of this story, and I thought that everything was handled perfectly.

But there is a lot for Kacey and Theo to work through – both individually and together as a couple. They have a lot to deal with on their own before they throw the complication of their relationship on top of everything, but their unwavering support for each other is beautiful. It’s not always an easy read, and my heart broke for them and all that they face, but their honest, passionate and intense love for each other helps them through, and I love that they were able to find something so spectacularly special in the midst of their heartache.

Despite our losses, we would keep going. Never give in or give up. Because love always wins. Always.

This is a stunningly beautiful friends-to-lovers story. It’s functional and honest, and the feels are intense, and it all felt so incredibly natural. Jonah’s memory is honoured beautifully, and this book never came off as a ‘second best’ situation. Kacey and Theo are wonderful together, and I adored their story.

5 stars.

I personally am a fan of this author. This series is a very emotional read, about love and loss. The book was written beautifully. I would recommend to anyone who loves a great read.

This book as a followup to Full Tilt was outstanding. There was so much emotion in this book. I couldn't put it down. I read it in one shot (stayed up until 5:30 am) Kacey had been through so much and was struggling to deal with her heartbreak, Theo tries his best to keep her on track, but when she disappears, his hands are tied. When a stranger called him, he rushes to help her. He has always loved her and hides it as long as he can. Kacey sees him as her best friend and it slowly develops into more. There were lots of ups and downs with her parents, his parents and Jonah's friends. Eventually most people came around, but it was slow going. This series was very good. I highly recommend. I got the first book on KU, but I have to own it to reread. I got this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

I love Emma Scott, she writes so well, and just has a great knack for making her characters feel so real. This book was.. not my favorite by her, I’ll admit. But the writing, storyline, and characters, were very good in their own right. It just didn’t captivate me like I wanted it to.
