I really loved Catling's The Vorrh, but this didn't live up to my expectations for a follow-up! However, this is probably more of an issue of too much time between reading the first book and the second!

I was extra confused about what world we are in, and how this works in this fantasy world, most probably because I didn't read the previous book. That's not always a problem if you can immerse yourself into the story, but here that was just nonapplicable. At this point it would just be a chore to drudge through it.
