Description

Legendary Wine Maker Makes the Craft Easy with Month-by-Month Approach

With over 2 mill copies sold, the first modern book to bring wine making to the at-home vintner is back in print

(LANCASTER, PA) For anyone who wants to learn how to make delicious wine at home comes the back-in-print, bestselling guide from brewing and wine making expert C.J.J. Berry, First Steps in Winemaking. (Fox Chapel Publishing, September 1, 2011)

First Steps in Winemaking was the first modern book to introduce the winemaking process to the at-home vintner, and instantly became the definitive source for anyone looking to give the craft a try. It clearly and succinctly outlines everything a beginner needs to know to begin brewing: how to use a wine kit, notes on using a hydrometer, how to achieve desired flavors and how to maintain proper acid levels. It also includes over 100 recipes that let you make wine all year round with ingredients like fruit, flowers, vegetables, foliage and more.

Millions of readers used First Steps in Winemaking to learn the craft. It was wildly popular not only because it was the first text available in the 1970's on the subject, but also because it read clearly for the first-timer. Beginners could understand the language, and follow the easy techniques to achieve success. The other appeal was the book's convenient organization. It was organized so that readers could make wine each month of the year using the harvest in their own gardens, or readily-available produce from the grocery store.

Also back in print from the same author is his best-selling book, 130 New Winemaking Recipes (also published by Fox Chapel Publishing). Together these two books can be used to make robust reds, whites and other flavorful wines, right in your own kitchen.

He frequently appeared on television, and was an established lecturer and wine judge. Mr. Berry died in 2002 in his hometown of Andover, Hampshire.
