Great selection of excerpts! I like the new monthly format and think it will help me focus on books soon to be released.
Many thanks for this new book plenty of great books excerpt!
This is the first Buzz Books edition I have ever requested. Indeed, it seemed less daunting than the semiannual catalogue and was ideal for a first perusal. I do hope that there will be a spring/summer edition as, in my opinion, that would be a better resource for planning ahead. I particularly liked that the excerpts chosen for this January edition were varied. A great way of getting acquainted with titles outside of one's comfort zone and discovering new authors.
I really only had interest in the YA stories included in this book. I about screamed when I saw it had an expert from Caraval, which is my most anticipated release in a long, long time. I was not let down, nor was I by Frostblood. Both were good books and they definitely left me wanting more, which is the whole purpose of a sampler. I did give the other books a try, but I just didn't connect with them as much as I would have liked. I still give this 5 out of 5 stars and I would recommend it.
Always my favorite sampler of the season! I love getting a sneak preview of all of the best new books.
Buzz Books have always been a brilliant way to get new books on the radar and TBR lists, but this new monthly format is even more useful and more user-friendly, keeping the number of extracts taut. I'm especially excited to read History of Wolves...
Buzz Books MONTHLY??? As in, we now get one of these babies every month?
Oh yeah, this is going to be a good year! :p
The titles in this book, were not ones that I was familiar with, though many piqued my interest. Great way to find new titles and new authors.
These are the best books ever. It is nice to get a heads up and sample of books that are on the way!
I am so glad that I discovered (through NetGalley) that Buzz Books will be doing a monthly publication. This makes it much easier to stay up to date on what is coming out next than a twice a year sample. I already found several books that I hope to read from this sample and I was very excited to see an excerpt from Fire by Night and Caraval, both of which are books I have been eagerly waiting to read.
Great opportunity to see what's new for January, 2017 .it is also a great opportunity to read excerpts which helps make my decision on whether I want to read a particular book . I hope that the book buzz previews will continue to be made available. I have already obtained several galleys and may request additional titles .
I really enjoyed the excerpts. I found a lot of books that I have added to my to read list. Can't wait to read them next year.
Great selection of excerpts, excited for so many January books! I love these Buzz Books and really pleased they will now be monthly!

I think this is a great way to present all the books we will read in 2017 :)
Having enjoyed Buzz Books twice a year, I am so excited to hear there is now a monthly version! I look forward to the new selections each month.
I really enjoy having Publishers Lunch compile a monthly rather than seasonal publication of the upcoming releases. It makes it easier to plan and stagger relevant reviews! I'm also a fan of how it's split up into which books are particularly buzzed in the publishing community so I can focus my reviews. I'm really looking forward to what's being published in January. There are lots of great titles coming up.
A priceless preview of wonderful books to come. Thank you NetGalley!
This is a great way to preview the new titles that are being released. I liked being able to read a little more about the book so I knew without a doubt if it would interest me. I think whoever came up with these deserves some recognition, it was great idea.
These continue to be awesome resources for new releases and also just some general knowlege which really helps in a bookstore format even if all the titles don't necesssarily apply to my interests.
Buzz books is a great guide to exciting new books. Thanks!
I love Buzz Books, and now they're going to be MONTHLY, how great is that! So much great info on books, authors, new authors and every genre available. Thank you, thank you. The never-ending book pile, virtual or literal, it's wonderful.
I love the week by week publishing calendar - it's great for planning my reading!
Nicely done reading sampler, with a good selection and wonderful information about the upcoming books!
Definitely worth a look!
What a handy guide for book bloggers. In addition to excerpts of upcoming notable releases (which help reviewers test the waters before committing to an ARC request), I really like the week by week extensive list of upcoming new releases! Going to a monthly format is great idea and will come in handy for book bloggers as they plan upcoming Blog reviews/spotlights.
Love these preview publications. Have already read one of these January buzz books and have requested a few others. Can't wait to spread the word!
I found this to be a helpful resource not only for my purchasing in the library, but just as a reader as well. I'll definitely be looking at these in future months.
Thanks for the sneak peek into upcoming releases. I love that these Buzz Book PDF's will be monthly.
Wonderful excerpts! It makes me so excited to read the upcoming releases.
I can't wait to see next month's edition.
I always enjoy these . So helpful , specially for those of us who work in the book selling industry and don't have time to read everything ( I would love to do that though lol)
This is a great little book to see new titles and authors that are new and often notable. The bonus is an except of several of the novels. This is all so very handy to have one book to look at and review.
Excellent preview of books coming out in January, 2017.
This is my third or fourth edition of Buzz Books and I've discovered that I really look forward to them. From this collection I am most looking forward to a book called Things We Have in Common by Tasha Kavanagh. Thank you NetGalley and Publishers Lunch for this book; I am really happy it is becoming monthly instead of seasonally.
Buzz Books always provides an insider's look at the hottest titles. This monthly installment perfectly whets the appetite!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for sending me this digital preview. I am so very excited for the two young adult novels in this issue of Buzz Book. I am especially excited for "Caraval" by Stephanie Garber. The premise is intriguing and the writing style is both gripping and lyrical. I am very excited for the books coming out in 2017.
This was a good chance to get info about a lot of upcoming books! I'd recommend it.
The new monthly format is great! It's easy to see what's coming out and to make my selections.
I really look forward to the release of this book. Inside are samples of some of the books that are to be released this winter. I love making my list of all the books that have left me wanting to read more after finishing the sample! There are always some great books to look forward to!
A great sample of new books published in January 2017. I particularly enjoyed the excerpts for History of Wolves and Lucky Boy, books I definitely want to read next year. Thanks NetGalley and Publishers Lunch for my digital copy.
The new monthly format is a fantastic idea, and it makes it much easier to stay on top of when books will be released.
LOVE THIS BOOK! Thank you so much for breaking it down month by month. Much easier to make a wishlist and I love how many books I discover thanks to you guys!
I absolutely adore this series of previews and hope they never stop. They're a beautiful way to sample new books, discover new authors, and get a taste of upcoming books
Buzz Books is always something to look forward to before you plan your reading list for the year. This edition has a few that I will be sure to add to my reading list in the coming months!
Great to know what's coming!
Nothing better than having excerpts, I have found those to be more helpful than blurbs and reviews.
Thanks for putting out this sneak peek. Most helpful!
Buzz Books is a neat way to read exerps of new and soon to be published books! I will be keeping my eye out for a few.
I love these samplers and book buzzes to keep me up to date with what is coming out in the coming months/year. This monthly version is far better than the season ones because it is more focused and contains a larger selection of titles and excerpts.
I love these books! I find them super helpful too. They allow me to create a list of books that I want to read and sort through first second and third priority lists. I recommend this awesome book to anyone who enjoys reading and is looking for suggestions! Thanks for sharing!
Another excellent collection of the upcoming books. I love these sample books as it helps me get an idea of what is heading to the market over the coming month(s) and find some new books I can't wait to read. This edition was no different, although I do love that it's a monthly version rather than the seasonal ones we've had previously. Definitely need more of these books - I look forward to reading them and seeing what will be coming!
So much good stuff this month! Thanks for making this a monthly thing, so much easier to enjoy!
This was great, helped me get a handle on what books are coming out this month! It let me try excerpts from genres I don't normally try. Definitely worth the read!
I like the idea of having a collection like this each month. I've been a huge Buzz Books fan for quite some time now, so having one of these collections a month is an amazing thing. I cannot wait to see what books will be included in future issues.
NetGalley publishes a list along with a few excerpts from various publishers promoting books they feel will be must reads with January release dates. The list includes categories ranging from Literary Favourites and Emerging Talents to Debut and Commercial Fiction and Nonfiction selections.
Two of the excerpts were in the Young Adult categories but there are three titles I will be adding to my must read in 2017 list. Each was unique in its content but all were well written and begged for more than just a taste.
History of Wolves by Emily Fridlund with an intriguing summary. “, History of Wolves is a coming-of-age-plus-crime story that explores…. the difference between what you want to believe and what you do.” From what I read in the excerpt, this story of “guilt, innocence, negligence, well-meaning belief, and the loss of a child” looks to be a fascinating read set in the cold woods of northern Minnesota.
The Fire by Night is a debut novel by Teresa Messineo. It explores the lives of two nurses deployed on the front lines in WWII. Jo, an Irish-Italian New Yorker is trapped behind enemy lines in a makeshift medical unit in France. Her best friend Kay is sent first to Pearl Harbor and then to the tunnels of Corregidor in the Philippines where she is captured and must nurse civilians in a POW camp. I loved the excerpt and look forward to this read.
The excerpt for Shanthi Sekaran’s Lucky Boy confirmed what the positive reviews for this novel already led me to believe is a must read. The excerpt includes the opening efforts of Solimor Castro-Valdez to leave her small Mexican village and find a life for herself in California. What little I read has me wanting to read more. Always a great sign.
Thanks for the sneak preview NetGalley.
Thank you NetGalley for providing this book to me in exchange for an honest review.
What an amazing compilation of January 2017 upcoming books. I completely enjoyed looking through all of the upcoming books (over 100 of them). I also really enjoyed discovering the selected books with excerpts - reading the summary of each book and a few chapters to gain an insight of the writing style and content. I cannot wait to read Frostblood by Elly Blake and Caraval by Stephanie Garber as both books sound AMAZING.... I'm truly looking forward to the February Buzz Books Monthly publication.
Enjoy and Happy Reading!
Found a few books that I cannot wait to read. I have never received a book like this before, I enjoyed getting to see books ahead of time.
I look forward to Buzz Books each month as a source for my reading list. It's a great reference tool.
For some reason I completely forgot to read through this sampler until I downloaded the February one. January is going to be a great book month with so many great titles to be on the look out for. I honestly love how they switched this from 4x a year to monthly. This is a great idea and look forward to becoming aware of each month's book selections
Good sampler; enjoyed the selections. Look forward to reading monthly.
This is a great review of upcoming books. I love receiving the Book Buzz because it allows me to have a reserve of books for reader's advisories.
So happy to have had the chance to sample these YA titles! Caraval is a highly anticipated read for me, and I was happy to get a sneak peak. I also loved the wide variety of titles with excerpts, I got a taste of some books that sound amazing and were outside of my normal genre.
Thanks for the monthly books. It makes it so much easier to keep track.
Really interesting books were spotlighted. Added some to my To-Buy list and can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Caraval!
As always some great excerpts of upcoming releases. My picks are as follows:
The Fire by Night by Teresa Messineo (release date January 17, 2017)
Frost Blood by Elly Blake (release date January 17, 2017)
Carnaval by Stephanie Garber (release date January 10, 2017)
I love the Buzz Books samplers, they're such a fun way to discover new books that maybe I wouldn't have heard of otherwise. This month I'm particularly looking forward to "Caraval."
So excited for some of these. Lots of great YA titles coming in 2017. I'm especially excited for FROSTBLOOD and CARAVAL.
