Even with the so called abbreviations which I took to be there on purpose.... It is a buy buy buy buy buy book! A story with character and life. One that touches your heart and keeps you reading and feeling. I explored the story without stopping as I was totally captivated by it. I wanted so much for a few things more to have happened to make it a little lighter but all in all I would say this is a great read! One that will warm you from your toes to your heart and back again! This writer is truly amazing in the way she has of telling a story and making you feel a part of it. I have only discovered this author lately but she is definitely one I will keep my eyes out for. A truly great read! I was given this book in return for a honest review. Anna

Historical Western Romances have a special place in my heart. I just love the simple, pure, raw and hard-working lifestyle many had back in those days. It wasn't an easy time period to be alive, but it was very rewarding. The blurb of Knight of the Texas Plains piqued my interest. One of the reasons that made me decide to read this story was because of the main character Duel, who was thrust into the role of father to an abandoned baby. I just love when there is a child involved in the story, the interaction between child and parent is beautiful to read. Duel doesn't really know what to do with the cute baby girl Marley Rose. He tries to keep a distance but eventually he bonds with the baby.

Jessie stumbled up to his campfire in bruises, and Duel does what any gentleman would do and offers her a safe place to spend the night. Jessie is a very strong and caring character. I loved how she took to the baby right away and how the clueless Duel asks for her help with the baby. Both Duel and Jessie keep their distance because of their own reasons and things that happened in their past. However Jessie learns what a loyal, honest, protective and honorable man Duel is and her feelings for him change. I loved that the author took her time to develop their relationship with both each other and Marley Rose. Marley definitely stole many hearts in this book, including mine! There was a very open communication between Duel and Jessie, which I really appreciated. I can't wait to read the next book in the Texas Heroes series. Hopefully Duel's brother Luke will get his own story.

I am a reader who tends to get emotionally invested in the books I read, but I have never felt more enmeshed with characters then I did when I read Linda Broday’s latest novel “Knight on the Texas Plain.” Ms. Broday created a story and characters that made you feel the raw emotion in a way that you feel as if you the reader are living their lives. Duel McClain just wanted to play some cards and have a drink when the man he was playing with put his tiny daughter up for his bet, and when Duel won he found himself wondering what to do with the beautiful Marley Rose. As he was contemplating his current situation Jessie Foltry stumbles into his camp half dead, and after reassuring her that he would keep her safe the two settle into an uneasy truce. These two broken people must find a way to become whole in order to give Marley Rose the home she deserves, but when the past catches up they prove that love and faith are more powerful than any outside force. I was given an advanced copy of this book, and all of the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

WOW!

I am not sure what I was expecting when I started reading Knight on the Texas Plains. Besides Diana Palmer, I've actually read very few western romances. This one is set in the past as well so, historical western romance. The description of this book made me want to pick it up ASAP though!

The book starts off a bit slow as you delve into the past and the western world but it quickly picks up the pace when our hero, Duel, gains a baby by the name of Marley Rose in a poker game. Not long after he picks up another stray, Jessie. Unlike the babe though Jessie is more of a mystery, and one covered in blood.

However, as a man who has no clue what he is doing with a baby Jessie is a godsend-- Duel doesn't think twice about asking to tag along with him to his old town of Tranquility. It's obvious something bad has befallen her.

Jessie was an incredibly strong woman who had more will than most to survive. How she did, and not come out of it crazy or just plain mean or meek is amazing. She is super compassionate and even though she is skittish at first it becomes obvious that there is a spark between her and Duel.

Jessie is not the only one with a past though and it is not easy for Duel to overcome his either.

I was crying by the end! More than once author Linda Braday had me tearing up with the love and hardships these two have to overcome. I could not have asked for a better ending, and I am looking forward to reading more by her!

I would recommend Knight on the Texas Plains to anyone who is a Diana Palmer fan. In a way it puts off the same vibe but it is also historical so you get the best of both world! I will be adding book two to my bookshelf!
