Every Nora book I read, I scream “No!!!” when I turn that last page. This was probably the biggest NO of all …! Nora writes relationships so well, I always want to be apart of the friendships she creates. These families you want to have dinner with and hug when you see them. I’m equal parts excited and apprehensive to see where she will take them. I must admit the first couple of chapters were hard for me, as I’ve always been really affected by the witch trials. But it didn’t take long to suck me into the story. Every Nora books keeps me glued to the page, and I never want to stop! This book is NO exception! How long till book two …?!?

I'm fascinated by the Salem Witch Trials so was excited to see the connection in Nora Roberts' new series. She's a gifted storyteller who does her research, and I knew she would handle this painful and horrifying subject in a skillful manner. And she does! It's a multiple timeline book, which can be confusing and drag the story down, but in Ms Roberts' hands that is never the case. She brings you into the world she creates and makes you feel part of it. Her characters are so well written and become so familiar, you will miss them when the story ends. One warning....this book has a cliffhanger. Write quickly, Nora!

Another paranormal romance trilogy from Nora. And boy does she love her witches. This one is pretty different from her other witch books and trilogies. Neve has lived a bunch of lives as a witch until the present day but she is a created witch from her first life when the witch trials were running rampant among the puritans in North America. A very interesting concept. The whole book had massive Practical Magic movie vibes. Which I loved.

In present day we get teenaged Neve coming into her power and receiving a go find witch stuff quest from the "First Witch". As with a lot of Nora Roberts books these days, we are getting the growing up montage for Neve with her adoptive aunts. And a little bit for her man witch, Caden too. And his family is just delightful. I love the way Nora does side characters.

This first book really focuses on them both growing into their power, growing some fully developed frontal lobes, and beginning the go find witch stuff quest with some success. Both interesting and frustrating is the constant missed connections with Neve and Caden. They both know the other exists and can feel when they are near but can't seem to get in front of each until the end. And by then Neve is like, "this guy? meh." which was pretty funny.

This book is cliffhanger city so you've been warned. Which also means I will be reading books 2 & 3 because I need to know how it all ends.

This book definitely started off so good! It just kept me wanting to read more! This is my first book by this author but wont be my last.

I’ve been a casual Nora Roberts fan for lots of years mostly thanks to my cousin who is a huge fan and passes them to me when she’s done. I was excited to read the first book in her new witchy series. Roberts takes her time with the set up, and I want to avoid spoilers! We meet Neve, her “aunts”, and a man Caden from another powerful witch family. The perspectives shift, telling parallel stories, and we know both have a mission, but not how or where they will meet each other in this lifetime.

This was the best kind of epic family saga - kind of a slow burn where we get to thoroughly know these characters. People will complain that too little happened but Roberts is very clear that this is the first in a trilogy. I loved getting to know their worlds (both the fantasy world with their rules of witchcraft and their worlds where they live and work). I had to stop to Google Piety Island (fictional 😭)

Recommended for fans of witchy books, the author, or long family sagas. I’m excited to read the next one!

It’s everything we wait for in a new trilogy from Robert’s - with an extra thrill in this one with smoldering witch vibes. We know the formula and wait for the right connections when the characters meet and face the challenges, but there is so much extra in this one — from fiber artist aunts to island pub comfort along with the evil forces Neve and Caden face and will continue to face together — there is an ending that leaves us hanging and hoping…with of course, too long to wait before the next volume.
For ALL Nora lovers out there, this one does not disappoint — as if any ever do.

Finished this book and knew that if I could, I would immediately read the second in the trilogy. What a cliffhanger!!!

I'm enjoying the writing direction Roberts is taking with her standalone books and trilogies. In the trilogies, she's really building a bigger story, which is enabling her to take the time to tell a detailed story, show a lot of character development, and really allow the reader to settle into the world.

I really liked the premise of this trilogy: witches and magick, reincarnation, 'the chosen one', community... I like how we switch between settings (and even time periods!), from the small island of Piety, to Boston, to Ireland, and Montana and more. It really helps to showcase the time and space that the lore of the story is set in.

On the romance side, this book is a verrrrrryyyyyy sloooooowwwww burn. And not even a burn, but more of a flicker of a glimmering of what could happen. And that works for the book and trilogy because we know more is to come.

I'm excited for book two!

This is truly a beautiful book. If you enjoy epic stories involving magick, rebirth, romance, and the fight between good and evil, this may be just the book you are looking for.

I am already looking forward to book two.

I would give more than 5 stars if I was able. I think that this will be her best. This first book in the series lays the groundwork of how Neve and Caden met in the past and along with her aunts form a bond that begins the quest. I can't wait for the next book.

I loved this! The concept was not like any other story she's written. I really enjoyed the set up and the way the past played into and through the present. The dynamic between the FMC and MMC was great. I loved the familial relationships as well - the aunts are amazing. I cannot wait for book two!

Another good one by Nora Roberts. I love her fantasy books and this one hit the mark. Magic, powers, witches, battles against evil ones. CHEFS KISS! Very much a fun read with amazing world building so beautifully written.

I really enjoyed this book. No one is better at writing of magic, and witchcraft, and powers, than Nora Roberts. This was a wonderful start to an awesome trilogy (I am assuming it’s a trilogy based off the past). A very thorough introduction to all the players and their lives and the settings. Now I have to wait a year for the next one, which makes me kind of want to cry because. 👏WHAT👏
Is the next book done? I can help edit…proofread…beta read…anything that needs to be done so I can ultimately start reading the next book. 😂

I have loved Nora Roberts' books since I was 16 years old and I still read every single one she comes out with and I never regret it. This one is absolutely no different, I loved every second of it. Neve is one of the best fmcs I've read in a while, she is smart and resilient and I loved this set up for her. Caden is great too, and his relationship with his family is
This is definitely a slow burn series, this first book actually kind of reminds me of book 1 in The Chronicles of The One series in that it is mostly setting up the story and getting to know the main characters separately, not focusing on any romance yet. I'll be thinking about that ending until I can get my hands on book 2.

This is my second read from Nora Roberts and this one blew me away. I loved the characters, I loved the storyline and I love that there will be more to this! I cant wait for the next book to come out.

Taking place in Ireland with Cadens story and the stories of witches and faries. I was just captivated by this book from start to finish and probably set a new record for myself on how fast I read a 418 page book.

Caden is a fascinating protagonist; the duality of his daily / nightly professional life as a pub owner contrasted with his obsession of finding a certain girl made it impossible to look away from. The development of his arc is handled with such care that every discovery feels earned and every danger feels real.

As for the ending—it was an absolute emotional rollercoaster. The final chapters left me breathless and reeling, desperate for more. I need the sequel as soon as humanly possible!
