Description

Named the #1 business book of 2016 by The Globe and Mail, Cort Dial's debut Heretics to Heroes: A Memoir on Modern Leadership proves that peak business performance is achieved not by stifling humanity, but by embracing it. Also a recipient of the Gold Nonfiction Book Award, the hybrid of personal narrative and eye-opening manual spans gritty chemical plants, the deserts of the Middle East, exclusive C-Suites, and more, as it introduces a new framework for inspiring and influencing others called All-In™ Leadership. As provocative as it is practical, Heretics to Heroes reminds readers that history's greatest men and women were once seen as heretics.

A Note From the Publisher

From the Author: "The greatest heroes have always been heretics - brave individuals who challenge the status quo. Listen to your inner voice that says, 'This isn't right.' Give in to that inherent longing you have to recognize the humanity in others and in yourself. Through All-In Leadership, you'll achieve more than you dreamed possible."-Cort Dial

A really enjoyable memoir about leader coaching which made me think about what I need to do to improve myself and my management style in the workplace. The book is filled with stories of leadership challenges and how with coaching improvements can be made and behaviours changed both in the leader and those below them. I will be honest and say I was disappointed in how much assistance some of these leaders appeared to need to do their jobs, I actually wondered why companies didn't hire somebody like Cort to do the job instead of them. Saying that I see the benefit of having a coach like Cort who will be honest with you and guide you to take the correct actions to resolve the issues being faced and improve leadership skills. You need somebody that will be honest with you as not everybody you work with will. The book also shows that not everybody is willing to change the way they lead or are in denial as to the reasons for their issues. Cort is open and honest in discussing where he has not been able to assist companies and leaders due to their inability to change.
