Mayhem on the Orchid Isle

And Then There Were None is one of my favorite novels, and I am always thrilled to read homages to the original. Mayhem on the Orchid Isle is a lighthearted tribute that honors the original but adds its own little twist.

Ginger is a Michelin starred chef, who along with her flirtatious friend/assistant Jemma has been hired to cater a weekend gathering at a remote horse ranch on the Big Island. Apart from the ranch staff, there are ten guests of various professions and backgrounds. Ginger and Jemma quickly discover that a tragedy links the players. When the first guest disappears, Ginger begins to wonder if someone intends their own Hawaiian take on the classic Christie tale.

Mayhem on the Orchid Isle departs from the original in several ways apart from the setting. It has a hearty dose of humor. Ginger is able to see and communicate with ghosts, including the recents departed. The why and whodunnit is very straightforward once you have the details of the tragedy. But knowing whodunnit doesn't make the novel any less enjoyable. This short, lighthearted cozy makes for a wonderful afternoon escape with its exotic setting and charming central characters.

This may not be a classic or major work of literary fiction but I enjoyed it. I took this book without reading the description and was nicely surprised when Ginger's ability to see ghosts was revealed. The characters are fun, and it was great that Ginger and Jemma made a good team. I felt like this book was a really quick read but that was fine. There is a good story here and the characters are done well. The only thing I have to say about it was I am not really sure I liked the ending, it kind of felt like it was left unfinished. The reader is left knowing they are searching for the killers but that's it, readers don't know if they are apprehended. This was book three in the series but the first book that I read, I guess I will have to read more of them. Both so I can read more of the background or what has already happened as well as what may happen in the future. Overall, it is an enjoyable book but I would have liked more background and details about her gifts, husband, job etc. but I was easily able to read the book.

Mayhem on the Orchid Isle by Aysia Amery is book three in the Maui Mayhem Cozy Mystery series. I had not read any of the previous books in the series, and it did not hamper my enjoyment of this book. Ginger and Jemma are cooking for a private party at a horse ranch when they get stranded by a storm. This would not be a problem if the plot to Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None was not being played out with the guests. This was an easy read, and I finished it in one day. The mystery kept me guessing until the end though. I would happily read the other books in the series.

A different, very Hawaiian take on And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie is the third book of this cozy-mystery with a paranormal twist series. I enjoyed the main characters, Ginger and Jemma, and how they stuck together to solve the mystery and I liked it enough to get the first two books in the series. It made for a delightful day of reading entertainment.

First, there were twelve - a curious assortment of strangers eight of whom were invited to enter a lottery for a prime ranch on the Big Island. Ginger, a Michelin Chef, Jemma, her assistant, and Kat and Evan, hired caretakers for the ranch, were the "workers" for the weekend. Their host, unknown to all of them, is nowhere to be found. All that the guests have in common is a secret in their past they're unwilling to reveal. It appears that each has been marked for murder. One by one they fall prey. Before the weekend is out, everyone will be dead if Ginger and Jemma can't figure this out. Only the dead are above suspicion and they are clueless and to who the murderer is.

A short murder mystery. A retelling of Then There Was None Hawniian style. I thought it was OK. Not really what I was expecting.

Remake of 10 Little Indians/And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. The story was limited by the original story and maintaining to it's limited cast of characters as well as the short length of this story. It's even easier to figure out who done it due to the age of the characters.

The story was interesting and read quickly and smoothly. The author tries to include some Hawaiian vocabulary and background in this series which was nice (and obviously appropriate). In the one other book I've read in this series (the title escapes me), I recall the author immediately translated the words which I felt didn't need to be explained because of the context. If that was the case, it's not done here which I liked.

This is a great little cozy with a touch of ghostly intervention. Book 3 of the Maui Mayhem Cozy mystery series I had no problem enjoying this book even though I didn't read the previous books. Ginger is a chef who is catering a remote ranch meeting with her assistant Jemma. Agatha Christie fans will certainly enjoy this take on the classic And then there were None. Will certainly be reading the first two very soon. Set in beautiful Hawaii, the writing portrays a beautiful ranch and their unpredictable weather.

I loved this book and it was so easy to read, Ginger and her assistant have been hired to cater for a small party of people but unfortunately it does not go quite as planned. When they are riding out during the day one of them goes missing and it is thought she has got lost after straggling behind. They do search but unfortunately there is a storm and they are unable to carry on which is when I realised Gemma could see ghosts and when her sister appears she realises everything is not as it seems.This is a modern take on 'Then there were none' it had lighter moments and even though you can see whereth plot is going it was still a great read.
