A Heartwarming Holiday Story Full of Love, Faith, and Redemption

Karen Kingsbury does it again with The Christmas Ring—a beautiful, emotionally rich story that captures the true spirit of the holiday season. From the very first page, I was drawn into the lives of the characters, especially the journey of healing, hope, and reconnection that unfolds with such warmth and grace.

Kingsbury’s signature style shines through—compelling characters, meaningful themes, and a gentle reminder of the importance of faith and family. The story weaves past and present together in a way that feels both timeless and timely, with a mystery that keeps you turning pages and a romance that tugs at your heartstrings.

Perfect for fans of inspirational fiction and anyone who loves a heartfelt Christmas story, The Christmas Ring is a reminder that sometimes, the greatest gifts are found in forgiveness, love, and unexpected second chances.

Highly recommended—this one’s going on my annual holiday reread list!

The Christmas Ring

I was gifted by NetGalley with an advanced copy of this book. The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury will be released in November as well as a movie version. The basis of the book is a ring found during an effort to fit a Nazi invasion and became a beloved token passed down from generation to generation to the oldest daughter. The ring is lost and a quest is set out to find the ring though states away, praying for its return regardless that it appeared to be a costume ring but held sentimental value for the family. The story reveals God’s hand throughout and will be a wonderful addition to the holiday read. Five stars for an awesome book by an excellent author. #netgalley #thechristmasring.

This was a quick read for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I loved how the ring gave so much hope to the soldier amidst the battle on D-day. In the present day, it is such a comfort to Vanessa and Sadie.

Ben comes into the story and brings such a charming and endearing character. The way Ben and Vanessa make up stories about the antiques that they find is so sweet!

Thanks to netgalley and Thomas Nelson for the arc. The opinions are my own.

A sweet tale of love, loss, faith and happy endings begins with a paratrooper who lands off course during the D-Day invasion. While waiting to be rescued, he accidentally digs up what looks like an antique ruby and diamond encrusted ring. The ring remains in his family and is handed down through the generations. It is lost during a skiing accident several generations later and the love story that ensues centers around its reappearance. my thanks to the author and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. It was very refreshing in the heat of the summer. The story about a ring and how it found its way into a family with love lost and eventually found was beautiful. The characters were well developed and relatable. The Christian mentions were beautiful and tastefully done. It was a great read for this time of year.

The Christmas Ring was incredible. It's a story about faith, friendship, second chances, love and the magic of Christmas.

Vanessa Mayfield has recently lost her husband. To try and bring a little happiness to herself and her daughter, they take a ski trip. While sledding, Vanessa looses her ring. The Christmas Ring that has been in her family since her Great Grandfather found it on D-Day. Against all odds she prays and hopes that it will someday be returned to her. Along the way she meets Ben Miller. Ben and his father own an Antique store. Hoping that her ring may be there she stops to have a look. When Ben and Vanessa meet there is an instant connection. They start a friendship that slowly grows into more. There's only one problem. Ben thinks his father might have found The Christmas Ring but is on the verge of selling it. Can Ben stop the sale and will Vanessa get a Christmas Miracle? Will Ben and Vanessa take their friendship a step further toward love? You're going to have to read to find out.

I had never read Karen Kingsbury before but the description of this story called to me. I am so glad I picked it up. I can guarantee I will be reading more of her books in the future.

I highly recommend The Christmas Ring. It was Perfect!

I loved this book! So much so that I read it in July (keep in mind, it’s a CHRISTMAS BOOK!) and I read it in two days! The Christmas Ring is a beautiful and emotional Christmas story about love, faith, and the power of memories. The main character, Kendra, finds an old engagement ring in an antique store just before the holidays. She feels drawn to it and decides to uncover the story behind it. As she searches for answers, she learns about a couple who were separated by war and heartbreak but never gave up hope. The author does a wonderful job weaving the past and present together with a message of God’s love running throughout. Kendra’s journey helps her find healing and discover what truly matters—faith, family, and following your heart. This book is full of Christmas warmth, meaningful moments, and just the right touch of romance. It’s perfect for readers who enjoy stories that make them feel inspired and hopeful. The Christmas Ring reminds us that even lost love can lead to something beautiful and new. A perfect read to enjoy with a warm cup of hot chocolate by the Christmas tree—in fact, I think I will reread it again in December and do just that!

I. Have. No. Words. Karen Kingsbury has always been my favorite author. Her books are absolutely amazing. And The Christmas Ring didn't disappoint. If I had one bad thing to say about this book, it would be that it wasn't long enough :)

From the very first page, in 1944, you will be immediately drawn into the story of a soldier hiding for his life who happens upon a ring. And then you will be transported through time, down through generations of his family, to the current time. A widow, trying to live her life and raise her child while still wearing the ring passed down through generations. This is a story of God's amazing love, God's faithfulness, and how we always need to remember that He is still in the miracle performing business!

I was crying at the ending and was so sad the book was over. I finished it in a day. Do yourself a favor.. READ THIS!!!

Looking for a wonderful Christmas read? Then this book is for you!! It has "all the feels". The story focuses on a military widow who raises her teenage daughter while searching for a family heirloom ring that she lost at Christmas skiing just after her husband was killed in action. The story follows their lives as they navigate life without their husband/father. I love how the military life is highlighted in this story - what families go through and how they support each other. The characters, relationships and decisions are all very realistic and heartfelt. Is it possible to find love again? What about the precious Christmas Ring that has been missing for years? Do not miss this heartwarming story! I received an advance copy from NetGalley but all opinions are my own.

Oh my goodness I devoured this book in 2 sittings. It’s so heartwarming and one of the coziest and sweetest reads I’ve ever read. The messages of faith and believing there’s a time and place for everything andand if something is meant to happen, God will present it to you when it’s time.

I love love love stories about family heirlooms and the stories behind how they magically touch people’s lives and bring people together. The Christmas Ring will touch yours, too!

If you love deeply emotional stories that talk about faith and religion, this is an amazing and beautiful one to select.

Home isn’t a place, it’s the people you love. That was a constant theme in this book. The story starts with a soldier the morning of the D-Day invasion where he finds a ring that gives him hope of returning home to the people he loves.
The ring is passed down through the generations until it’s lost. The rest of the story concentrates on loss and hope, including hope that the ring will be found. I found myself tearing up in several places. Close to the end of the book there was a moment where I actually gasped out loud and started crying. Another great book by Karen Kingsbury. looking forward to seeing the movie this Christmas.

This is the first book from the author and the description of the book made me want to read it. I love stories that are set around Christmas and love. We first meet Vanessa and her daughter Sadie as they are trying to move on with their lives after her husband was killed in action while saving another’s life. While enjoying the time sledding, Vanessa realizes that she lost her family’s Christmas ring that has been passed down through the generations. We learn how the ring came into existence at the very beginning of the book. The story then continues with Sadie going off to college and Vanessa stopping in a small town to get gas and goes into the antique store hoping that she might find her ring. She connects with the store owner’s son, Ben and they become friends as they share a connection with a list loved one. As their relationship grows and they are on their first date, Ben suddenly has to leave. Will they get back together in this season of miracles?

Loved the depth of these characters and the love of God that the held. Their trust in God and His timing was uplifting and was something I needed to hear. Loved the ending when it all pulls together!

I used to read everything Karen Kingsbury wrote, I now work at a school library instead of a public one. Luckily it was summer when this book came up. I was intrigued by the description and decided to try it. It was a solid read with likeable characters who draw you into the action. Although some plot items were predictable, the strength of the story and the characters pull you back in to the story. Kingsbury wrote an amazing story for the holiday season.

A story of hope, faith, and love during the Christmas season, combined with the chance of a miracle. It begins with the backstory of Vanessa's paratrooper great-grandfather finding the ring on D-Day, thus beginning the heirloom story.
Vanessa, a Gold Star widow, lost the ring during a sledding outing with her daughter, Sadie. She leaves flyers around Breckenridge, offering a reward for its return, before returning to Georgia. Over the years, she scours antiques and vintage shops, always searching for the ring. She never gives up faith that if it's God's will, the ring will be found.
Four years later, she stops for gas in a small town and looks in a nearby Christmas-themed antiques shop. Striking up a conversation with one of the owners, Ben, she tells him about the ring, and they form a friendship.
As her friendship with Ben has developed, she asks him to the fundraiser dance benefitting military families she founded, finally opening up her heart to love again. Ben has also lost a spouse, and Vanessa is the first woman he has had feelings for, too.
Vanessa receives a call that her ring may have been found, but it has been accidentally shipped to a customer. The antiques dealer promises to try to find the ring. The thought of the ring being returned gives even more hope to the Christmas season.
A beautiful story with twists and turns, family drama, the potential of being reunited with the ring, heartfelt tenderness, and starting over, it delivers on the magic of Christmas and the season for miracles.

The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury tugs on a lot of heart strings. It is an inspirational story of faith and love.
Vanessa and her daughter are skiing in Colorado in early December. It is their first Christmas since her husband, an Army medic was killed by an IED. While sledding she loses a family heirloom - the Christmas ring.
Four years later, after taking her daughter to college she stops at an antique store - she has been searching for the ring since it was lost. She meets Ben and they start a friendship. Could it be more and how will her daughter react?
It is spiritual without being overly so. I read this story in a few hours, thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven’t read this author before and was impressed.

This is a wonderful book that honors those in military service, reminds us that faith in God is important, and that forgiveness is important.

The characters are relatable and easy to like! Vanessa is AMAZING! She has known heartache but she is determined to provide a loving home for her daughter, Sadie. It's wonderful how their mother/daughter relationship is: it reminds me of mine with my mom and with my daughters. (best friends!) Sadie is a typical young woman. She is eager to start her own life but she loves her mother a lot. Ben is hunkalicious! He's handsome (Chris Pratt 😍), he's an antiques collector and he loves poetry. He has a compassionate heart and he's patient!

The Christmas ring is sentimental. As it's passed down from generation to generation the message of God's faithfulness is passed along too. In my life, it's our family Bible.

I have read many books by Karen Kingsbury and I look forward to her next book! I was provided a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When I pick up a book by Karen Kingsbury, I always ensure that I have no other tasks waiting for my attention. Her stories capture my heart from the very first page, and long after I've turned the last, I find myself pondering the characters and their journeys for days on end. This sweet, heartfelt story is no exception.
Vanessa was reassured by her husband’s role as a military medic, believing he was safely saving lives and caring for others. So, it was a shocking blow when she learned he had been killed. During a ski trip in Colorado with her daughter, Sadie, Vanessa loses her beloved family heirloom, “The Christmas Ring,” in the snow. Despite an extensive search, the ring remains lost—a ring that her great-grandfather discovered on D-Day, hidden beneath a bush in Normandy during World War II.
Years later, as Vanessa helps Sadie move into her college dorm, she realizes hardly a day goes by without her praying for the ring’s return. Although she lives in Georgia, she believes deeply that God knows where it is and that one day it will come back to her.
On her way home after dropping Sadie off at college, Vanessa stops for gas and stumbles into an antique store hosting a “Christmas in July” sale. Always hopeful that she might find her Christmas Ring, she strikes up a connection with Ben, the owner’s son, who is a widower who lost his wife several years earlier.
Vanessa was confident her husband serving in the military was safe because of his job as a medic. He was the one saving lives and caring for others. What a shock to learn he was killed. When she and her daughter on a ski trip in Colorado, her beloved family heirloom ring, she called The Christmas Ring, falls off her finger in the snow. After an extensive search the ring could not be found. The ring was discovered on D-Day, under a bush in Normandy, during World War II, by her great-grandfather.
Years have gone by and Vanessa is helping Sadie move into her college dorm as a freshman. Hardly a day has gone by that she hasn’t prayed for the return of the ring. She knows that God can see where it is, and although she lives in Georgia, she believes somehow the ring will be returned to her.
On the way back home after dropping Sadie off at college, Vanessa stops to get gas and wanders into an antique store having a “Christmas in July” sale. Vanessa is always on alert when she sees an antique store since there is a remote possibility that she’ll find her Christmas Ring. The owner’s son, Ben, and Vanessa seem to connect right away. Ben is a widower, having lost his wife a number of years earlier.
Vanessa and Ben strike up a friendship and over time, she often stops in at the antique store and they enjoy lunch together. As the years go by, there is a definite attraction between them, although Vanessa still wears her wedding ring.
Right before the annual Christmas Military Dance, a fundraiser that helps local military families. Ben is in town to attend the dance at the invitation of Vanessa, however, in a frantic moment of discovery, Ben, with little explanation, rushes back to his family’s antique store, hoping to prevent a possible catastrophe error that would cause the Christmas ring to be lost forever.
I read this book in one sitting. Absolutely could not put this remarkable, heartfelt, story down. The cast of characters are all memorable and lovable and by the end of the book they feel like real friends. I highly recommend this book, and as a follow-up, go to a local theater and see the movie of The Christmas Ring to be released in early November, 2025.

This was such a sweet, heartwarming story, filled with valuable lessons of trusting in God and His plans for us. 🥹❤ I cannot imagine what it is like to lose a spouse or someone I dearly love, but Kingsbury eloquently and tenderly put into words what the pain is like. She also delicately portrays how Ben and Vanessa move on after their terrible loss, which made me tear up so many times.

But it was the elements of faith that really spoke to me. I’ve been struggling with my faith recently because of certain things going on in my life, and I have asked God if He could somehow soften my heart of stone that has been calloused by, well, I guess everything. And I believe this book was an answer to my prayer. The character’s faith moved me beyond words, and I want what they have. I yearn for it. Sure, this book is simple, short, and right to the point. But sometimes the simple things in life are the ones that make a difference to our wandering souls that are looking for a place to rest and be at peace. 🕊 This book will go down as one of the most influential and impactful books I have read in my life, and I am not mad about that.

Vanessa Mayfield, a military widow, stops for gas in Marietta, Georgia, on the way home from dropping her daughter Sadie off at college. With the house now destined to be even quieter, she can’t resist a "Christmas in July Sale" sign in the window of Miller’s Antiques. She wonders if this could be the moment she finds her missing ring—a family heirloom that her great-grandfather found on D-Day in France. This ring is special not only because of the circumstances surrounding its discovery, but also because of the one-word engraving. When you make spontaneous stops, do they turn out to be futile, or can they lead to life-changing experiences beyond your wildest dreams?

This is an uplifting and beautifully written faith-based story that delves into emotional depths, becoming even more magical as it builds to a climax during the Christmas season. It features elements of mystery, friendship, second chances at love, romance, and the evolving dynamics of a mother-daughter relationship. Throughout the narrative, Vanessa and Sadie navigate significant changes in their personal lives while maintaining the strength and love of their bond. Additionally, the story celebrates a community coming together for a special event, which is part of the year-round charity that Vanessa has organized to support military families in honor of her late husband, and a conversation she will never forget.

One of my favorite talented authors…reflective…heartwarming…love…family…friends…connecting…the recipe for a novel that is thought provoking…finding a ring in a war zone…Karen Kinsbury has taken a familiar war torn area to begin this story. She has continued it to a later time all the while circling around the ring. Curl up in a cozy chair…grab a cup of steaming herbal tea…become lost in this book…thanks Netgalley.

The Christmas Ring is a heartwarming standalone romance by Karen Kingsbury that beautifully captures the spirit of the season. This touching Christian love story was a perfect addition to my Christmas in July reading—and I absolutely loved it!

The characters are compelling and easy to connect with, and the story unfolds with just the right mix of emotion, faith, and holiday charm. Kingsbury has a gift for weaving together themes of love, redemption, and hope, and this book truly reflects the magic and meaning of Christmas.

If you’re looking for an uplifting read that will warm your heart and remind you of the true joy of the season, The Christmas Ring is a perfect choice. I’m looking forward to watching the movie later this year!

This story starts out telling a little bit of the backstory of the ring. Fast forward to Vanessa Mayfield, who is a widow, has the ring that has been passed down from generation to generation. Vanessa and her daughter goes on a trip, where she loses the ring. Vanessa does all that she can to find a ring that may just be a bauble to many, but is priceless to her family. During the story Vanessa meets Ben Miller who runs an antique store with his Dad and uncle. I didn't want to put this book down without finding out whether or not the ring will ever be found. I enjoyed the chemistry between Vanessa and Bill and reading about how they were both learning to let go of the past. Will Vanessa ever find her ring? Will her daughter accept that her Mom might be moving on? I think the author did well with describing the unity and closeness of military families. I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read an early copy of this book. All opinions are what I thought of the book and looking forward to the movie being made of this book.

There is so much about this book that I loved from the dramatic D-Day, 6 June 1944, opening that set up the storyline to the heartbreaking growth widow Vanessa and her daughter, Sadie, go through after the loss of Alan.

Readers will relate to Vanessa’s pain at the loss of her loving husband, her fairy book life, and the abrupt ending to her life as she knew it or thought it would be. There are parallels in this story that all people can relate to in their own lives.

Author Karen Kingsbury does feelings and interpersonal relationships with finesse invoking deep emotions and many tears. Her characters are fully developed and realistic. Ben Miller, the handsome and wholesome antique dealer, is easy to instantly connect to and get a sense of who he is. While Sadie, as the youngest in the book came across age appropriate for her part in the book.

This book is worth reading for all the emotions it invokes and the beautiful ending. I give it 5 STARS.

Widow Vanessa Mayfield, still grieving for her late husband, embarks on a sincere hunt for her family's heritage ring, which was misplaced shortly after his terrible death. During her Columbus, GA, community's holiday preparations, she forms an unexpected connection with charming antiques merchant Ben Miller and realizes that love may return when least expected. Ben learns evidence regarding the ring's D-Day origins and realizes the lost wealth may already be in his father's possession, prompting him to prevent its sale. What follows is a touching test of devotion, faith, and if real love can weather the storm before Christmas.

Karen Kingsbury tells a wonderful, emotional Christmas story filled with grace and genuine emotion. If you enjoy Christian romance stories about second chances, family treasures, and emotional redemption, this book is ideal for the holidays. It moves at a steady pace, with characters full of faith and emotion. A little predictable? Perhaps—but in this genre, predictability is often comforting—and Kingsbury delivers it with conviction. A delightful, pleasant retreat perfect for the holiday season or whenever you need a gentle reminder that where our treasure rests, our hearts genuinely are.

The story's primary phrase—"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also"—alludes to Matthew 6:21. The ring, engraved with a significant statement and linked to D-Day, becomes a symbol of heritage, sacrifice, and higher purpose. Enjoyed this book thoroughly.

Thanks to net galley and Thomas Nelson for an advance copy for my honest review.

The Christmas Ring brought tears to my eyes more times than I can count. This was an absolutely beautiful, heartfelt read that touched my soul. Karen Kingsbury has a gift for writing clean, faith-filled stories, and this one was no exception.

I loved how she wove Scripture and prayer so naturally into the storyline—it didn’t feel forced, but instead added a deep spiritual warmth to the book. It reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas and left me feeling inspired and hopeful.

This was the perfect Christmas-in-July read, but I can only imagine how much more meaningful it will be to read again in December, fully wrapped in the Christmas spirit.

Highly recommend if you're looking for a clean, emotional, and spiritually uplifting holiday story.

Five 🌲💍 stars for this inspiring holiday romance. It turned out to be the perfect choice for a Christmas in July read.

Here are five reasons why:

💍The ring! See that cover illustration? That is just how I imagined the ring from the description. First discovered on D-Day by one of our finest and passed down through the generations only to be lost on the sledding hill in Breckenridge. Is it really just costume jewelry?

🌲Vanessa was the current owner of of the ring when it went missing. After dropping off her daughter at college four years later, she stops in Marietta, Georgia to see if her ring might be at one of the antique stores there. She meets Ben, a widower, and a friendship begins at a Christmas in July event!

💍The missing ring earns another star for the mystery piece of if/when it will be found. Vanessa is bereft and prays for it to be returned every day. Her daughter Sadie will be next in line to own The Christmas Ring.

🇱🇷 Vanessa and Sadie live in Columbus, GA -- home of Fort Benning and a substantial military population. Karen Kingsbury does a great job highlighting the sacrifices our military families make and the efforts made to support and encourage them.

🎬 While reading I thought about how fun it would be to see this made into a movie. Guess what?! There IS a movie version coming to theaters on Thursday, November 6. Mark your calendars and don't forget your tissues!

This book felt like I wasa reading a Hallmark xmas movie, which is exactly what I was hoping for!
It's very well written, characters are believable, and situations too.
It was a tad too religious for my taste at some points but it- actually makes sense with the characters' lives.
It was a perfect cozy read for xmas time and for any time actually, and I can't wait for the movie adaptation

Karen Kingsbury’s The Christmas Ring is a heartfelt and deeply moving holiday read that masterfully explores themes of grief, love, and the courage it takes to let go. The story follows Vanessa, a military widow, as she navigates the loss of her beloved husband and faces the questions we all must ask after our lives are forever changed: When is it time to treasure the past, and when is it time to let go and embrace the future?

Kingsbury’s characters are so authentic and well-drawn that their emotions feel genuine and raw. The gentle pacing of the novel provides the perfect backdrop for reflecting on your own experiences with loss and renewal, making it easy to see yourself in Vanessa’s shoes.

This is exactly the type of cozy story you want to curl up with in your favorite chair, a blanket around your shoulders, and a cup of tea or hot chocolate nearby. The combination of a tender romance, a touch of family mystery, and Kingsbury’s signature warmth creates an immersive reading experience that brings both comfort and hope.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance or inspirational fiction, especially those who are looking for a story that doesn’t shy away from real emotions, yet ultimately offers healing and second chances. Let Kingsbury remind you that while grief may linger, love and new beginnings are always within reach. Five stars! Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the free book to review.

Just thinking about The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury being turned into a possible Hallmark movie she makes me happy! What a great read and I'm sure it will be a great movie too! Karen Kingsbury never disappoints me!
As my husband was a paratrooper of the 101st Airborne Division years ago, I sure can relate to Bill Bailey and the whereabouts of The Christmas Ring and having a loved one no longer on this earth especially during the Christmas season. Is it possible to find love again? This book sure delves into question for the main character, Vanessa and her family including Sadie, and the missing special heirloom ring which belonged to Vanessa!
The Christmas Ring sure kept me reading and enjoying all the special memories this book brought home for me. Well worth reading as all of Karen Kingsbury's books are!

There's something so special about reading a holiday book that doesn't rush the story.
This book is about a lost heirloom, loaded with family memories, but what i really enjoyed was the tender relationship between a mother and daughter. Both grieving a loss in different ways, one with the loss of her husband, the other with the loss her father and adjusting to being away from her best friend to starting college. I really appreciated the mother's yearning for something new in the gentlest way. She wanted to be careful with her daughter's emotions.

The emotional pace felt perfect, it was warm, soft, honest, and human. I do recommend listening to Christmas music while you read this. It set the perfect vibe for a holiday read.

This beautiful, beautiful book was the perfect example of how if you keep your eyes on Him all roads will lead you to where you're supposed to be. I loved all the scripture in this, it was just so perfectly spoken in all the right places. Ben and Vanessa's shared journey through grief was told delicately and with perfect grace and I absolutely can't wait for this movie to come out. The mother/daughter relationship between Vanessa and Sadie was also told beautifully. This is just a beautiful book. If you're looking for a book that beautifully covers new relationships after loss and navigating that through Christ please read this book. It's fantastic.

This was my first book by Karen but I’ve seen some of her tv movies. I loved everything about this book! Widow Vanessa Mayfield loses her heirloom Christmas ring that was passed down to her from her great-grandfather. Fate connects her with antique shop owner Ben Miller and they develop a friendship that leads to a slow burn romance. Vanessa’s teen daughter Sadie also features with a secondary romance.

This book has all the tropes and microtropes:
Friends to Lovers
Faith-based
Slow burn romance
Military themed
Christmas

This was a perfect read for Christmas in July. I’m looking forward to the feature film starring Jana Kramer and Kris Polaha that comes out later this year. Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for making this ARC available for Camp NetGalley.

Ben & Vanessa..

If you are looking for a heart-warming faith based Christmas novel this needs to be on your TBR. If I remember correctly, this book also was turned into a movie as well.

This heartfelt review describes a deeply moving and faith-filled story that explores themes of grief, healing, and trust in God's plan. The reader was especially touched by the portrayal of loss and the emotional journey of the characters, Ben and Vanessa, as they navigate life after tragedy. More than anything, the book's message of faith resonated powerfully during a personal time of spiritual struggle, offering comfort and a renewed desire for connection with God. Though simple and straightforward, the story left a profound impact, becoming one of the most influential reads in the reviewer's life.

This is not something I traditionally would read but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

On D-Day, Vanessa's great, great grandfather survives an attack by the enemy. As he and his fellow soldiers hide out hoping to be rescued, he finds a ring buried in the ground. This ring gets passed down by each generation. When it comes to Vanessa, she wears it everyday and cherishes it and the rich history that goes along with it. When the unthinkable happens and the ring is lost, Vanessa searches for it for several years. An unlikely meeting with Ben in his family's antique shop turns her life around. This story is about love, faith, second chances and miracles. I enjoyed reading this book. Karen Kingsbury is a favorite author of mine. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This was a very special Christmas story about second chances. Vanessa lost a very special family heirloom the first Christmas after her husband died. She never gave up hope that the missing ring would be returned to her. Years go by and her daughter is headed off to college and the ring still hasn't been found. She makes a stop at a Christmas in July sale at an antique store and it changes her life. There are two characters running the store and one very handsome son, Ben. Vanessa needed a friend with her daughter away and Ben did as well. Both had lost their spouses so they understood how difficult life could be. Throw in the holiday season and romance can't help but happen. The good news is this is being made into a movie coming to a theater near you in November. Read the book before you see the movie because you know the book is always better. You need to read to find out if the missing ring is found and the incredible story behind it.

This poignant story had some of my favorite elements. Antiques have always been a part of my world since my mother was an antique dealer. “Antiques had a way of stirring Ben’s heart, taking him to places of poetry in his soul. Antiques let you hold a piece of history in yout hand.”
I love second chance romance and this was just the ticket. It was a story of love, loss and moving on mixed with the quest of a lost ring which was an heirloom that Vanessa wanted to pass on to her daughter Sadie. The way Vanessa and Ben met seemed orchestrated by God. I appreciated the way the author depicted them as solid Christians who made mistakes but could overcome them with the help of God. I also appreciated the honor given to fallen military personnel and the way Vanessa found a way to serve the families of those lost in service to their country.
The story garnered a few tears and had me thinking of the meaning of true, sacrificial love. I am so glad it is being made into a movie for release this year. Truly a Christmas gift.

Wow what an amazing story!
Karen Kingsbury has been one of my favourite Christian authors for many years and I have collected nearly all of her books (still have some to get) but this is one of my absolute favourites. Not only is it set at Christmas time but the depth of emotion the tribute to the military and the faith shown in God is outstanding. I could not put this book down. There is so much depth to each character especially Vanessa Sadie and Ben so much emotion they have to work through but with Gods help they learned to live and love again. Absolutely amazing thank you so much to Karen Kingsbury, Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for an ARC copy to honestly review.

You can always count on this author to write a story that will tug on your heartstrings.

A ring discovered on D-Day has been passed down through a family for generations until Vanessa Mayfield loses it. Devastated does not begin to describe her emotional state. She planned to give it to her daughter and continue passing it down. She has given pictures of the ring to any antique store anywhere that she encounters to be on the lookout for the ring. A chance meeting at an antique store in Marietta will change two people's lives forever. Who knew something good could come from losing a family ring?

Loss is a big part of this story, but so is second chances and divine providence, as you see God's hand in every thing that happens in this book. The faith element is perfect as you see the characters lean heavily into their faith and allow it given them daily strength when everything else seems lost.

This sweet, inspirational story also beautifully showcases the sacrifices that military men and women make daily for our country.

If this one does not move you, you might want to check your heart. Tears will come as you read along, but so will smiles.

A beautiful, moving story! I absolutely devoured it and hated to see it end. The storyline pulls you in instantly and has wonderful characters you fall in love with and can relate too. It is an emotional read with the themes of grief, loss, starting over, and family. The fact that it focuses around the Christmas holiday season is just perfect.

Vanessa and Sadie are a dynamic mother daughter duo learning to navigate life after the loss of their husband/ father. This story follows them through several years of their lives as we watch them each navigate life both together and individually. Vanessa’s character is one of strength and grace that you instantly connect with. Ben Miller enters Vanessa’s life and instantly finds his way into your heart. This book has so many wonderful characters making it a full, rich story.

This is definitely a favorite book for me! I can see myself rereading this one for years to come. The perfect story to touch my heart, have me feeling in the emotions, and closing the book with a smile on my face yet sad that it is over. I highly recommend this book!

A book packed full with emotions from the very first page. Sadie and Vanessa dealing with their grief from a painful loss tightened their bond and kept their faith in God. When they suffer an additional loss of a family heirloom, they are shaken but still unbowed. Karen Kingsbury writes a heartfelt story of mother and daughter as they navigate through their loss and find love again.
The intricate way the family heirloom is found, bringing with it new love and a whole new chapter of joy is amazing. Indeed, God works in ways humans can't fathom as He uses every little detail to bring out a beautiful picture from seemingly hopelessness and pain.
I really like the relationship between mother and daughter, that they could communicate even when it seemed they were not in agreement. Also, Vanessa using her pain to bring forth a worthy cause that benefitted many people especially at christmas. Ben is an admirable character. One who was ever ready to help as well as understanding and accepting as he too moved past his pain.
The love story between Vanessa and Ben is heartwarming and filled with hope, faith and peace. The Christmas Ring is a delightful and inspiring read.

Knowing that this book is going to be made into a movie is a gift. Understanding that each scene could be reenacted to tell the story in a two-hour format helped to appreciate the plotting. Initially I thought that it would be a dual-timeline tale with trips backward and forward to unravel a mystery. However, it stands on its own.

I found a deeply resonant story of loss and coming back to life for both mother and daughter. I am in shock that I didn’t know who Karen Kingsbury was prior to this! Were the emotional arcs abbreviated? Likely so. Was there enough detail to get the point across in a movie? Yes! Often, I read with the goal of discovering new insights on a complex situation that I had not considered. This book delivered in spades.

Trigger warning: mention of military war and death, death of a loved one

This is my first book by Karen Kingsbury, but it certainly won't be my last! Let me start by saying that I love all things Christmas, all year long. So when I got the chance to read this book early through NetGalley, I jumped at the opportunity!

We follow the story of Vanessa Mayfield after the loss of her husband, leaving her a military widow and single mother. After she drops her daughter off for college, she stops into a small antique store looking for her lost family heirloom "The Christmas Ring". While in the store, she meets Ben and they quickly bond over the loss of a loved one. Their story blossoms from there and soon find themselves at Christmas time asking for a Christmas Miracle.

This is a short easy read that is perfect for any time of year. It's a story of loss and love, grief and finding happiness again. It does focus a lot on God and prayer, so if that's not your cup of tea then be warned...however, I found it uplifting and lovely. I can't wait to read this story again and again; and also see the movie!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book early. I 1000000% loved everything about it!

What a beautifully written story about love, faith, and courage. This book is a wonderful reminder that no matter what the obstacle, and no matter how impossible things seem, always keep your faith.

Vanessa's great-grandfather finds a ring on D-Day and calls it his Christmas ring. The ring becomes a family heirloom and is passed down through every generation, only Vanessa loses it during a day of fun with her daughter, Sadie.

Fast forward a few years and, after dropping Sadie off at college, Vanessa visits an antique store and meets Ben. Vanessa and Ben are both getting over the loss of a spouse and they develop a friendship over the ensuing months as Ben helps Vanessa search for her ring. Little do they know, Ben's father has the ring in a box of antiques he purchased and plans to sell it so he can afford his lifelong dream of traveling. When Ben finds out, he races to stop the sale, but will he make it on time?

This is a wonderful cozy Christmas read! Snuggle up with a cozy blanket and your favorite warm beverage while you binge this book.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

This story reminded me of a ring that my mother had and lost the stone near the Grand Canyon decades ago. Unfortunately, my mother didn't recover her stone. But I felt the pain Vanessa felt when losing her ring. The story is somewhat predictable, but enjoyable just the same. It is a feel good book that restores hope for lost treasures of the heart and possessions.

Deeply emotional, moving, full of so much heart, and hopeful, "The Christmas Ring" is truly such a special book.

Vanessa and Ben...oh my goodness! Brought together by the loss of an heirloom from Vanessa's family, neither Vanessa nor Ben could have imagined how their meeting would change both of their lives. Exploring themes of love, grief, healing, and second chances, and written in such a palpable and affecting way, this book is very poignant and magical.

I so look forward to seeing the movie adaptation!

The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury completely took me by surprise, in the best way possible. I went in expecting a sweet holiday story and ended up with a deeply moving tale that absolutely took my breath away.

The story follows Vanessa, a widow and military wife, who takes a trip to Colorado with her daughter after the devastating loss of her husband. While there, she loses a cherished family ring that’s been passed down for generations, originally found by her great-grandfather on D-Day. Desperate to find it, she begins searching antique stores and eventually crosses paths with Ben, a widower whose father owns an antique shop in Northern Georgia. When he promises to help her look for the ring, their bond begins to grow, and through shared grief, they discover healing, peace, and a flicker of new hope.

This book was filled with so much heart and so much hope. It’s beautifully written and incredibly emotional, I found myself shedding a few tears more than once. Even though it’s a shorter read, the character development is strong and authentic. I truly felt the characters’ pain, love, and longing... and just as strongly, their hope for healing and second chances.

If you’re looking for something quick yet powerful, The Christmas Ring is the perfect cozy read to lift your spirits. A heartfelt story of love, loss, and the beauty of connection, especially at Christmastime.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the ARC.

A young paratrooper finds a ring in the dirt on D-day and it becomes a family heirloom, until it's lost one day by it's current owner, A young widow named Vanessa Mayfield is devastated by the loss, and it's her faith and family that keeps her going in spite of the loss. This is a very sweet holiday story, filled with love, spirituality and faith that how things work in mysterious ways.

Vanessa meets Ben Miller while hunting antique shops for the missing ring. He makes a big impact on her, including giving her hope in finding a new love. I really liked how their relationship grew from something small to something meaningful. There is quite a bit of spirituality and bible quoting in this story and I found that it added greatly to its charm. I've known many people who are guided by their faith in my life, and this story does a nice job of painting them in a wonderful light. The story is just the right size and doesn't drag things out, which I really appreciated. The Christmas Ring is a perfect holiday love story.

I just finished reading this adorably cozy Christmas novel! Vanessa Mayfield, a military widow, searches for her family’s heirloom ring, after losing it on a winter holiday. Originally found by her great-grandfather on D-Day in Normandy, this gold-and-ruby heirloom carries generations of memories and hope. Years pass as she continues to search for it. On her way home after dropping her daughter Sadie off at college, Vanessa stops at an antique store's "Christmas in July” sale. And it's here that she meets Ben Miller, a charming antiques dealer who catches her attention. Their special friendship buds into something more over the following months. As Vanessa navigates her grief and new found feelings for Ben, I was moved by her selflessness and care for others. In honor of her late husband, she organizes the annual Columbus Cares Christmas Military Dance to support military families in need. Just when things seem to be working out with her relationship with Ben, a kink happens..... Ben’s dad inadvertently finds Vanessa’s Christmas ring and plans to sell it, unaware of its priceless legacy. I was on edge of my seat hoping Ben could stop the sale! 😅 You'll have to read the story to find out how it ends! This adorable modern Christian romance brims with love, hope, and heartfelt memories.
It’s a must for your holiday TBR! I highly recommend this book. 🎄

‼️No profanity. No spice. Wholesome modern romance fiction.

The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury is everything I hoped it would be and more. In true Kingsbury fashion, this story is beautifully written, emotionally rich, and filled with heartfelt moments long after the final page.

This book captures the magic of the season in such a special way, blending faith, love, loss, and redemption into a story that feels both timeless and deeply personal. The characters are relatable and wonderfully layered, each carrying their own burdens, but ultimately finding healing in unexpected ways.

Karen Kingsbury has such a gift for writing stories that reach into your heart and remind you of the power of grace, second chances, and the importance of family. The Christmas Ring is no exception. It’s a perfect holiday read that made me smile, tear up, and reflect on the things that matter most.

I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone who loves an uplifting Christmas story filled with meaning and warmth.

The Christmas Ring is one of the best books I have read this year! I absolutely loved it. I can relate to so many things going on with the characters in this book. My old soul loves to seek out treasures at estate sales and just imagine the history behind them. I will definitely be recommending this book to others and may even give it as gifts to my reader friends. If my local library does not have it, I will be recommending that they purchase it as well. Finally, we will have a date night out to see the movie!

✨ The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury is coming this October —and so is the movie adaptation! 🎬📖

In the midst of a World War II invasion, a ring is discovered—what appears to be just a simple costume piece becomes a treasured family heirloom, passed down to the oldest daughter in each generation. When the ring goes missing, a heartfelt journey begins to find it again, even across state lines. Guided by faith and love, the family prays for its return, knowing its true value lies in the memories it holds. 💍❤️

Along the way, Vanessa meets Ben—both grieving deep losses. Ben’s wife, his high school sweetheart, had battled health issues from the very beginning. Just days before her 34th birthday, she received a devastating diagnosis and passed away ten months later. Vanessa, too, carries heartbreak after losing her husband when he stepped on an IED while serving.

This story is filled with love, hope, and healing—and I truly enjoyed the book. I can’t wait to see it come to life on the big screen this holiday season, in November! 🎄🎬🍿

A military story of loss and moving on. It has been 4 years since she lost her husband. Now her daughter is off to college and the closeness they had is changed by distance. Then she meets a friendly nice guy and begins a remote friendship. A lovely romance story. But the Christmas ring is part of the story. It was a family piece that was lost during a ski trip. The ring is woven throughout the book. Doesn't it sound like a ring we would admire? Can she finally let go of looking for it? The book is a lovely story with a few tears thrown in. I admit it did cause me to tear up. I like the book. It is well worth the time I spent reading.

This is such a great read, makes you smile, and when the last page is turned, I wanted more!
This is story of love and loss, from husbands, killed in action, to loosing a spouse. It is also about a heirloom ring, with quite the history behind it.
We visit a lot of antique shops, and find some great treasures, and all the while we are on the lookout for the lost ring.
This is a story that keeps giving, doing so much for our military, and we are there at one of the benefit dances.
This is a really sweet romance, and most of all a great love of God.
I did love that we are gifted with an epilogue.

The Christmas Ring is a heartwarming, faith-filled Christmas story that beautifully weaves love, loss, and hope. It follows a widow and her young daughter on a ski trip, where a treasured family heirloom — a World War II ring passed down from her great-grandfather — is lost in the snow. Years pass and the daughter is heading off to college. Through prayer, perseverance, and trust in God’s plan, she meets a kind man at an antique store who has also faced deep loss, and their friendship slowly blossoms into love. The book’s central message of keeping the faith through life’s trials is both uplifting and inspiring. I highly recommend this touching read — a perfect 10 out of 10 for its heartfelt story and strong Christian foundation.

The Christmas Ring is an ideal holiday book to get you into the holiday spirit. It also reminds you that God always has a plan for our lives. It's a heart-warming story about finding love again after the loss of your first one due to death.

This book will make a stand-up Hallmark movie! It allows you to feel every emotion, and you're rejoicing with the ending.

I like how the author had Vanessa experience this journey with her adult child. The author was careful not to diminish her first love's experience. She also paid tribute to the veteran who passed throughout the book.

Overall Thoughts:
You won't regret it if you preorder your copy of The Christmas Ring now. Karen did another outstanding job with this romance. It's a wonderful holiday read.

Grab the Kleenex! This beautiful story of miracles performed by God is my new favorite! The Christmas ring gave her grandfather the hope he needed to make it home on d-day. Vanessa was gifted the ring when she graduated college, unfortunately she loses the ring on a trip with her daughter. Vanessa, a recent widow prays every day that someone will find it and contact her for the reward. Four years later she meets Ben while searching an antique shop for her ring. Ben is a widower and never thought he would love again. Is it too late for a second chance at love? Will her daughter, Sadie be happy for mom or resent Ben?

The characters and plot had me hooked from the start. I can’t wait to see the movie based on the book this fall!

The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury is a Christmas holiday romance that reads like a Hallmark movie. Vanessa is a military widow who has lost an incredibly special ring which is a family heirloom. Vanessa searches antique stores in hopes that the ring may have ended up in one of them.
While looking for the ring in a particular antique store, she meets a good looking and kind man, Ben. Immediately they find they are drawn to each other, and their connection becomes a romantic attraction. Vanessa recognizes the importance of informing her college-aged daughter, Sadie, about her developing relationship; however, she hesitates due to Sadie's ongoing grief following the loss of her father. The search for the ring goes on, but there is a twist to the story that will both surprise and delight you.
This was delightful heartwarming story that I would recommend for Christmas warmth. This book is due to become a movie and I’m sure it will be as enjoyable as this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction/Thomas Nelson for this lovely ARC.

I loved this book in every way! 'The Christmas Ring' by Karen Kingsbury is heartwarming, faith-filled and loving. I shed many tears in the ebbs and flows of the story. The book is filled with loss, and how death impacts loved ones as they attempt to move on with their lives. That is not an easy prospect (I come to this from first hand experience as a young widow myself) and is different for everyone. The beauty in seeing the resolutions with Ben and Vanessa is that they are all founded in a deep appreciation for the gifts from God in our lives. I would give this book 10 stars if I could!

Karen Kingsbury is an author I will read over and over again. She isn’t repetitive or boring. Her characters are flawed and relatable. That brings me to the Christmas Ring.

Vanessa lost her husband four years earlier and lost her family heirloom ring shortly afterwards. Her daughter is leaving for college, and she finds the possibility of love again, with a man named Ben who lost his wife years ago.

This author has a way with words that always sucks me in. She wrote this book with three main points of view: Vanessa, Ben, and her daughter Sadie. Each point of view is unique to the person. For instance Sadie definitely reads like a young adult. It was nice to see.

So many Christian fiction books don’t actually mention God or the Bible. This book is different. And I love every single part of it. This book is about a woman whose faith in God overshadowed every single issue in her life. No problem was too big or small for prayer. And Bible verses gave comfort. That’s the kind of Christian fiction book I absolutely love. I will buy this book and ask my daughters if they want to read it as they get older. Because it’s sweet and in ways educational. We all find ourselves going through trials, and there’s a healthy way to handle those trials.

I thought Sadie wanted to be a doctor like her father. But somewhere in the second third of the book they changed it to teacher. I’m not sure how the final publication will play out, but it confused me.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury was my first Christmas book of the year! I have to admit that I am a softie for any Christmas story and if it contains a love story that is even better! I even love Christmas movies. This book gives us a double whammy because it has been made into a movie. How fun is that?

This story is about an old family heirloom ring that was lost and may never be found again. Vanessa is a military widow and her daughter has just started college. After she moves her daughter in the dorm and is on her way home again, she makes a detour to get gas. She sees an interesting antique store and decides to take a look and see if by chance she can find her ring. She meets Ben and the rest is history. I can’t tell you anymore about the ring. The search is a huge part of the story.

I can tell you that if you like Karen Kingsbury, you will most likely fall in love with her latest novel. I haven’t read too much of her work but I found the story and all that happens intriguing. I love the search. I love antique stores and wonder about the backstory of the items I see there.

I truly enjoyed The Christmas Ring by Karen Kingsbury and if you are like me and like anything Christmas, then this book is for you. It is going to deserve a spot on your nightstand for the upcoming holidays! Until next time…Happy Reading!

If you like Hallmark Christmas movies filled with faith, then you’ll love The Christmas Ring! It’s short, sweet, and guaranteed to warm up your holiday season.

While searching for a lost ring that’s been in her family for decades, a young widowed mother finds an unexpected attraction to a widowed antique dealer. When the information he finds out about the ring threatens a shared future, faith and family help bring them back together.

This fast-paced book’s setting is split between Columbus, OH, and a quaint small town an hour north of Atlanta where Vanessa’s daughter, Sadie, is attending college. I enjoyed Ben’s kind and funny disposition. Vanessa’s friendship with Leigh and Maria was entertaining to follow and showed realistic dynamics between a trio of friends: one who speaks their mind freely, one who’s gentle and sweet, and one who’s a go-getter.

A quote (and sweet reminder for life) I enjoyed: “God knows where it is. He’ll bring it back to me in His timing. If that’s His will.”

They are releasing the movie soon after the book’s release, and I enjoyed knowing the cast without picturing the movie while reading. That’s a rare treat these days! I’m looking forward to the movie coming out this fall.

Tropes you’ll find in this story: Holiday Romance, Military Families, Second Chance at Love, Young Widow/Widower Romance, and Single Parent.

I have been a Karen Kingsbury fan since I was first introduced to the Baxter family series many years ago, and I have really enjoyed her writing style. I went into this book expecting it to be a light hearted Christmas story with a little romance but it ended up surprising me in a positive way.

The story focuses primarily on the relationship between a mother and a daughter. The book does a great way of showing the reader their dynamic and chemistry, and it all felt natural and organic. The storyline then focuses on the ring and its history and deep family ties, and I admit the initial introduction to the ring was one of my favorite parts of the entire book. It was introduced through a flashback of somewhere in WW2 and to be honest, I kinda wish that part would’ve continued through the entire book haha, but that’s just me personally.

The story then continues on my starting a love interest with the main character and the initial impression for me wasn’t as believable but I ended up growing into enjoying their relationship. The parts that really made this book a good read for me was the sad parts, when it illustrated certain traumatic events. I was impressed because I always knew Karen Kingsbury could write more drama and trauma in that way but it was my first time seeing it in one of her books and I loved it.

This book has so much American pride and faith in it that I also loved it for that reason. It’s a mixture of everything America should stand for and did a great honor to military families, so I am very hopeful this will draw proud Americans to the theatre for a beautiful Christmas story that honors them.

This was a sweet story. A mom and daughter go skiing and she loses the ring (which she thinks is not real and is heartbroken. I loved the story on how she got the ring. After the mom drops off her daughter to college, she goes into an antique store looking for the ring. She meets the owner's son and they start texting and talking to each other almost daily. It takes them quite a while before they actually go on a date and even longer before she tells her daughter she is interested in someone. This family is very religious and so is Ben so the clicked right away.

The characters in the story are described perfectly and the town people are the kind of people you would want to know

I absolutely loved this book. Vanessa is a military widow who ends up losing her family's ring. This ring was found by her great grandfather on D Day. Years pass after the Ring is lost but Vanessa and her daughter (Sadie) have not lost hope. Ben Miller works at his family's antique shop. After dropping Sadie off at college, Vanessa happens to stop to Ben's store.

The Christmas Ring is a heartfelt holiday story about loss, healing, and the hope of second chances. Vanessa, a military widow, is searching for a missing family heirloom with deep ties to D-Day. Her path crosses with Ben, an antiques dealer whose family may hold the key to the ring’s mystery. Karen Kingsbury blends romance, faith, and history into a story that feels both tender and meaningful.

The pacing has a few predictable beats, but the emotional heart of the novel shines through. Vanessa’s grief and faith journey are moving, and the holiday setting gives the story an added warmth. Readers who enjoy inspirational romance with themes of legacy, redemption, and love will find this a perfect seasonal read.

The Christmas Ring is a tender and heartwarming holiday story about love, loss, and second chances. Karen Kingsbury captures both the ache of grief and the beauty of new beginnings with warmth, hope, and faith.

The novel follows Vanessa Mayfield, a military widow who not only lost her husband but also misplaced a treasured family heirloom—a Christmas ring rich with history and sentimental value. Years later, as her daughter Sadie begins university, Vanessa crosses paths with Ben Miller at his family’s antique shop. What unfolds is not just a search for the missing ring, but also a journey of healing, renewal, and the possibility of opening her heart to love again.

What I appreciated most was how Karen balanced the emotional weight of loss with the gentle promise of hope. I found myself rooting for Vanessa as she struggled to move forward while honoring her past, and her evolving relationship with her daughter felt both real and moving. Her blossoming connection with Ben brought warmth and light to the story, while the thread of supporting military families added richness and meaning that lingered with me after I closed the book.

This is a sweet, uplifting, and faith-filled read that reminds us that even in seasons of loss, hope can shine again. It’s the kind of story that left me smiling through a few tears — perfect for fans of inspirational Christmas romances.
