The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a book I can see myself returning to again and again for the feeling of joy and comfort I found reading it! Wanda Brunstetter, along with her daughter in law Jean, and granddaughter Richelle, have woven together 3 stories, that consecutively follow 3 generations of Amish women in the same family. This really draws the reader in to the family's lives and helps the reader identify with the characters.
In Wanda's installment, we meet Luella, a young Amish lady caring for her friend Dena who is very ill with heart disease at a young age. Luella cares for Dena's son and makes meals for the son and for Dena's husband. When Dena passes, Atlee (her widower) and Luella continue to spend time together despite her parents feelings about their age difference. Luella and Atlee eventually prevail and prove that love is greater than any age difference. In Jean Brunstetter's story, we read about Luella and Atlee's daughter Karen and her husband Seth and their children. They have moved to another Amish settlement a few hours from Karens' and Seth's parents in Lancaster county. Karen is having a difficult time adjusting to being away from extended family, especially when their youngest is born with a disability. She and Seth go through a difficult period while they learn what it truly takes to make marriage work. In Richelle Brunstetter's story, we are taken an additional twenty years in to the future, to meet Roseanna, Karen and Seth's oldest daughter, as she prepares for her wedding day, which has a very distressing outcome. When Roseanna's husband to be runs from the wedding, Roseanna faces a rough time of coping. Throughout these generations, there is a quilt that is passed down, with a psalm that ultimately brings each generation great peace and comfort. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Beloved Christmas Quilt: Three Stories of Family, Romance and Amish Faith is about a quilt with the scripture of Psalm 31:3 on the back and connecting three generations.

The three stories and generations include:

Luella's Promise by Wanda Brunstetter. Luella takes care of a terminally ill woman, Dena. Dena gives Luella a precious gift of her cherished quilt. She hopes Luella to one day pass it down to her future daughter. However, Luella is not even confident enough that she will ever be married and have a daughter.

Karen's Gift by Jean Brunstetter. Karen is married, has three girls and is expecting. They move away from the family and friends, leaving Karen overwhelmed. Will she be able to deal with the stress?

Roseanna's Room by Richellel Lynn Brunstetter. Roseanna's world completely changes on her wedding day. Will an old friend coming back to town bring her happiness again?

I enjoyed all three of the stories. They are all very sweet and I love how the beloved quilt was able to connect Luella, Karen, and Roseanna. The verse of Psalm 31:3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me is so inspiring and a beautiful reminder. If a reader is looking for some faith, inspiration and loves Amish fiction, then this book is most definitely for them.

Great read! I highly highly recommend this book and would give it 100 stars if I could.

I received this book from the publisher but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Another lovely 3 stories from the Brunstetter girls.
Luella has been caregiver for a dying woman and her young son. When dying Denna gives Luella her favourite Christmas quilt, she makes Luella promise to pass it down to her daughter. Luella isn't sure she will ever marry. But as time goes by, whilst loking after Denna's young son, her feelings grow for the husband, Atlee Zook..

Karen Allgyer and her husband moved to a slow-paced village to raise their children, but Karen longs for the closeness of family to help her through the challenges of motherhood and marriage. Her last baby gives the family more challenges and will they survive. The Christmas quilt is there to sooth the soul and remain in the family.

When the unexpected happens on the day of her wedding, Roseanna feels that she will never give her heart away again. But things happen and she does trust another, but is it forever, or will the past come and change her life again. The Christmas quilt again is a very treasured piece, handed down through the women in Luella's family.

Lovely stories, give them a go.

A darling set of stories set around a beloved quilt makes this title an excellent read for those looking for a clean and soft read. Filled with Godly respect, Amish traditions, and beautiful scenery, I recommend this for anyone who is a fan of these authors.

As always Wanda E. Brunstetter does not disappoint. Her stories are family oriented and usually show some internal conflict that is resolved with prayer and a quilt. Wanda transports you to the Amish Country in Pennsylvannia. Having visited Amish Country she does a beautiful job of describing the area and ways of life of the Amish. She crafts her characters so that you not only understand them but feel like you know them. Delightful read.

The Beloved Christmas Quilt is collection of three stories of family, love and Amish traditions by Wanda, Jean and Richelle Brunstetter. Three generations and three stories that tell of three generations in the family.
The first story is Luella’s Promise by Wanda Brunstetter. Luella is hired to care for her neighbor’s sick wife and their son. Luella is given the beloved Christmas quilt by the wife before her death. She tells Luella how special it has always been to her and since she is her best friend she wants her to have it. She also asks her to continue to care for her husband, Atlee and son, Daryl after she is gone. Atlee is sixteen years older than Luella but as she continues to care for him and Daryl they become close friends and fall in love. Luella’s parents do all they can to persuade her to quit working for Atlee and to begin courting with someone else. Their relationship becomes quite strained. Luella is pulled between honoring her parents and the feelings she has for Atlee. Focusing on God brings clarity to all of them in ways you might not expect.
Karen’s Gift is written by Wanda’s daughter-in-law, Jean. Next generation in the Brunstetter family and the family in our story. Karen is the daughter of Luella and her husband. She and her husband Seth have three little girls and have moved away from their families for Seth’s work. Karen is extremely homesick and would like to move back to be closer to her parents. Visits from her and Seth’s parents make her feel even more lonely when they leave. There is a new worker at Seth’s job who is not Amish and the two do not see eye to eye on many things. Seth is not happy there anymore but can’t see a way to change the situation. As always God is at work and can change their hearts and attitudes when they focus on him and trust each other as well.
Roseanna’s Groom is written by Jean’s granddaughter, Richelle Brunstetter. We meet Roseanna as a small child in the previous story. She is now twenty years old and planning to get married. At the last minute the groom, John, changes his mind and decides marriage is not for him. Several months later a childhood friend, Mark, moves back to the community and he and Roseanna begin courting. Of course, John eventually returns and wants Roseanna to forgive him and marry him. Roseanna is very torn and goes to stay with her grandparents for a time of prayer and renewal. When she returns she will need to decide who she truly loves and who loves her. Her answer comes in the form of accident that opens her eyes to that which she has not been seeing.
I enjoyed this book very much. I really like the way the stories are linked one generation to the next. It is also unique in that the writers are linked the same way. Each has a unique style of writing and yet they blend together seamlessly to create this beautiful story. In each story, there is some type of conflict and characters must learn to rely on God and not themselves in order resolve the issues. I give this book 5 of 5 stars and highly recommend it to all who read Christian novels.
I received an advance copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was a lovely book covering all the elements of Christmas, the Amish faith, and three generations of women. I loved the fact that the book covered three generations and was written by three generations of writers, Wanda Brunstetter, Jean Brunstetter, and Richelle Brunstetter. The beloved quilt has the verse, “For thou are my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me. Psalm 31:3, embroidered on it and proves to be a source of comfort to each generation.

Luella’s Promise
Beginning with Luella who is a caregiver for her dying friend, Dena, we see that Dena gives Luella a quilt to pass on to Luella’s future daughter, as Dena’s mother had given it to her. It has been a source of comfort to Dena as she endures her illness. Dena only has a son, and cherishes her friendship with Luella and feels she would like Luella to have the quilt to pass on to her future daughter. We see how Luella hopes to find a love such as Dena and her husband Atlee share.

Karen’s Gift
In the second story, we meet Luella’s daughter, Karen and her family. She and her husband, Seth, have moved away from the community where they were raised and where their families live. She has a very hard time adjusting, then also learns one of her children has a disability. She finds great comfort in having the quilt and its verse to help her get through all the trying times she and her family go through.

Roseanna’s Groom
The third story centers around Rosanna, Karen & Seth’s oldest daughter. Rosanna goes through a horrible time of hurt, anger, and embarrassment when her fiancé, John, leaves her at the altar. Her mother tries to give her the quilt to have as a source of comfort, but she tells her mother to save it for one of the other daughters and give it to them when they marry. She feels she may never marry as she doesn’t believe she can get through this hurt. We learn if she is able to recover from this and move on with her life.

I enjoyed this book very much and would highly recommend it for anyone who likes the Amish romance books and is looking for an enjoyable holiday read.

Three beautiful Amish stories intertwined through a Christmas quilt passed down through three generations. Each story shows how to overcome death to love again, martial strife and fear of new love.

I was very impressed with debut author, Richelle Brunstetter. She has her grandmother's storytelling gift. I'm excited to see how she progresses.

This is the perfect book to give as a present for fans of Amish romance. The stories are short enough to read one story in a sitting. The progression from story to story is seamless. Your heart will be light and airy when you finish the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing for an ARC to read and provide a review based on my own honest opinion.

Three beautiful stories each written by Grandmother Wanda Brunstetter,Daughter-in-Law Jean and her daughter Rachelle. The three stories revolve around a Christmas Quilt. The quilt was given by a women who was dying. Each story is about the next person who gets the quilt. Each story is beautifully written and very inspirational. This book is a great treat knowing it was written by three members of a family.

The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a three generational story written, appropriately by three generations of Brunstetter women: Wanda, Jean and Richelle. Neatly tucked into the story is a beautiful quilt that will bring comfort to three generations of women in the Zook family. The quilt bears a label lovingly embroidered by Dena Zook's mother with the words "For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me." Psalm 31:3

Luella's story is written by celebrated author Wanda Brunstetter. Luella is a sweet, unselfish young woman who is the caregiver for Dena, who is dying from heart disease. True to her unselfish nature she strives to provide loving care to Dena's son Daryl while keeping up with all the meals and household tasks. One day, Dena gives Luella a beautiful heirloom quilt, made by her mother. Dena intended to lovingly pass it along to her own daughter one day. She sees something special in Luella's heart and gives the quilt to her with the promise that she will continue to dare for Daryl and Atlee after she is gone.

After Dena passes, Luella continues to care for Daryl as promised. As her love for the child grows, she begins to have feelings for Atlee. Although she is being pursued by Eugene Lapp, she realizes she is in love with Atlee, Daryl's father who is sixteen years her senior. The age difference seems insurmountable and Luella's parents are at odds to accept Atlee as a suitable husband for their daughter. Does a heart recognize age as an obstacle?

Karen's story, written by Jean Brunstetter, is one that could resonate with any young wife and mother who has moved with her husband far from the family farm. Karen is lost without her parents nearby. She goes through the daily motions of caring for her young family but can't help but feel her life would be so much better if she could convince Seth to move back home to be closer to family.

Seth, working through his own stress on the job feels the added pressure of Karen's unhappiness. His job provides a better income for his family than he could earn back home. Karen and Seth face what seems to be insurmountable differences. As she holds the Beloved Christmas Quilt close, she discovers the verse on the label and it provides her with comfort. Can she take heart in the verse as her mother did before her?

Roseanna's story is written by newcomer Richelle Brunstetter, Jean's daughter and Wanda's granddaughter. Roseanna's story is that of a young woman who is left standing alone at her wedding by her beloved John. Her mother, Karen, wants to pass along the quilt to Roseanna, believing that it could provide a special comfort to her. Roseanna, knowing the history of the quilt, doesn't feel worthy of the quilt since John didn't marry her.

After weeks of staying home, she finally goes to town and runs into Mark, who recently moved back to town. The attention he gives her is a welcome change after John's rejection. After staying with his aunt and uncle to think through his actions, John returned. He tried to explain what prompted him to leave but Roseanna refused to hear him out. But when a tragedy strikes her family will the dashing suitor or the man who truly knows her heart truly be there at her side? Once more the quilt provides comfort that so long ago was stitched into each layer.

Like constant character in the story, a quilt that was a labor of love touched the lives of all who owned. I wonder how many of us have a treasured gift that was passed down through generation. The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a heartwarming book that will make a wonderful addition for your Christmas reading list!

A delightful and heartwarming collection. The three stories were woven together with three generations and one special quilt.
I loved that the precious quilt meant so much to so many as it was passed down from the first story in the book until the last person in the book.
I have to say that I found the writing of Richelle to be very much to my liking and I look forward to reading more of her work. I knew that I would enjoy the writing of both Wanda and Jean.
This is a definite keeper and I'll read it again closer to Christmas.
This would be the perfect Christmas gift for a loved one.

Stories with meaning, tied together by a quilt
ByMaggie
on September 12, 2017
Format: Paperback
Three generations of a family are tied together by a Christmas quilt and their faith. Each story has themes of uncertainty as to how to handle a problem, prayer, and, eventually, resolution. The bible quotation on the back of the quilt is apt for all. To make this book even more special, the novellas were written by three generations of Brunstetter women! Although I prefer a longer novel, the novella format seems ideal for our busy lives at Christmas time.

This is THE BEST Brunstetter clan book I've ever read! I was fascinated by the first story written by Wanda. It was interesting and had a bunch of unique elements to the storyline. It wasn't predictable at all. I was annoyed a little by Eugene's character. He seemed like a whiny baby but I think this added a unique real human element to the story. While I hated his whining I loved how he didn't win in the end. The love story in this book were so sweet and well developed. It wasn't oh we met and now it's the next page and we are in love. It was a natural development that I wasn't surprised about but still didn't see it as "predictable". The 2nd story in the book was written by Jean Brunstetter and was also good. I loved how it was a continuation (but not immediate following the previous story in terms of timeline... but it jumped to the adulthood of the youngest child born at the end of the previous story) of the previous story. I was glad to see what was going on in the lives of the characters I had just met. Loved the addition of a deaf child. We don't see "handicaps" in Amish stories often. I love this addition. And I loved how the characters reacted in a real way. They weren't immediately accepting of this challenge. The addition of marital struggles was also one you don't see often. I love when Amish fiction authors get real and don't romanticize the Amish lifestyle. Great story. The 3rd story written by Richelle got going slowly but then bam! Conflict from the beginning! I loved it. Characters met hardship and struggled but then pulled through and were even better off than they were before the struggle. Loved the raw emotion. Characters were well developed and there were plenty of plot twists and cliffhangers that kept me interested. Can't wait to read more from this author. She has a great writing style and way with plot that makes the reader want to keep reading. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

There was so much to love about this collection of novellas. I've been reading Wanda Brunstetter books since my introduction to the Amish fiction genre. I have enjoyed the stories she has co-authored with her daughter-in-law, Jean and now with granddaughter Richelle writing there is even more to love. This book was a quick read for me and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Wanda E. Brunstetter does a fantastic job of setting the scene and the tone for the book. In Luella's Promise, readers get to meet Luella and are introduced to the quilt with the special Bible verse. This story was both heartbreaking and sweet.

Jean Brunstetter does a splendid job of taking the reigns from Wanda for the second story in the book, Karen's Gift. I liked this story and I really like Jean's writing style. It is so much like her mother-in-law's but she has added her own touch and really makes the story her own. It was interesting to read of Karen's and Seth's problems and how they dealt with them.

Richelle Brunstetter's debut story, Roseanna's Groom, is wonderful. Her writing style is similar to her grandmother's and mother's yet she has her own special way of telling a story. I found her writing easy to read and I can't wait to read more from her. Roseanna's story is full of heartache and hope. I was left guessing until the end as to what Roseanna was going to do.

I loved that these three stories about three generations of women were written by three generations of Brunstetters. The writing style of all three is similar yet a bit different so the stories are seamless yet readers know they are reading stories by three different authors. I enjoyed reading about each generation and what the quilt represented to them. It was neat that the quilt tied the stories together and it wasn't just three stories about three women in the same family. The quilt really allowed each author explore their character and yet kept them true to the overall story.

Fans of Amish fiction are sure to love this book. This would also be a great way to introduce someone to the genre. Three authors with three heartfelt stories that are great reads for Christmas or any time of the year. Definitely a book for the keeper shelf!

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to write a review. All opinions are mine.

The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a charming and delightful story of a Christmas quilt that brings comfort to three generations of women. The stories are written by three generations of Brunstetters, Wanda, her daughter-in-law, Jean, and Wanda's granddaughter, Richelle. This apparently is a debut story for Richelle and she did a great job with her story. The story of the quilt begins with a dying woman giving it to her best friend who has been caring for her and continues through each generation as the quilt is passed on from mother to daughter. Each of the main characters is challenged in her faith as she seeks to do God's will in her life and finds comfort and strength in the embroidered scripture on the quilt. The stories are well-written with strong, lovable characters, good dialog, twists to the plot and a little humor amidst the romantic tension. Readers will quickly be caught up in the lives of the characters and their stories, hoping for things to turn out satisfactorily. Looking forward to more from this set of authors.

What a wonderful book written by very talented ladies. I love each of the stories very much. Each pulled at different heartstrings. In Luella's Promise by Wanda Brunstetter Luella is hired to take care of Atlee Zooks wife and young son. Before Atlee's wife dies she makes Luella promise that she will take the Christmas quilt and pass it to her own daughter when she marries and that she will help Atlee and his son. Finding herself falling for Atlee but she knows that her parents will not grant Atlee permission to court her because of an age difference. Will they be able to be together. They must have faith.

In Karen's Gift by Jean Brunstetter Karen misses her family and her husbands family being close. The only thing that gives her comfort is the Christmas quilt. The find out that their youngest daughter is death and the must learn sign language to communicate with her. Her husband has a tough time but family and faith see her through the hard times.

Roseanna's Groom by Richelle Brunstetter Roseanna groom runs away before saying their vows. Unsure why he left she finds out a secret that he was keeping. Moving on she starts see another guy but John comes back. Something happens that causes her to rethink her relationship with John.

It was an amazing read. Thank you ladies for the wonderful stories. I loved how the stories moved from one generation to the next.

"For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. Psalm 31:3"

With this one scripture stitched into a cherished Christmas quilt, thus begins an enchanting three-story novel revolving around the Zook and Allgyer families through the generations. Experiencing all the heartache and pain but also the love and faith they each carry in their hearts. I loved watching them grow up, both physically and spiritually and how the family grew closer over the years. This was seamlessly written by three talented authors who bring to life all the warmth of Christmas along with characters to live alongside. I found this to be heartwarming, enchanting and spiritually uplifting!

I enjoy reading Christmas books and this book has 3 novellas by 3 generations of the Brunstetter family. Book one is written by Wanda and again a really good read. We see Luella who is a caregiver of a dying women and promising to look after her son. She is given a special quilt which is passed down from eldest daughter to eldest daughter. We also see how sometimes love can come in unexpected places and family may not always be happy with someones choice.

Book two we see Karen and her husband living in a new area and Karen is missing her family and when something happens to one of the children she blames herself she finds herself and her husband becoming distant. She takes comfort in the quilt.

Book three was my favourite of the the novella's. Roseanna is left at the alter on her wedding day and blamed herself. When an old friend returns to town she is torn over what to do. She didn't want the quilt because she thinks she will never get married and feels it would be better to give it to one of her other sisters. We watch what will happen and see if she gets her happy ever after.

Good read.

An enjoyable Christmas read that follows three generations of women as they deal with loss, relationship troubles and family. I love that this book was written by three family members it made it feel more authentic.

Wanda E. Brunstetter has always been a go to author for me, so I was excited to see her release The Beloved Christmas Quilt which features three stories–one by Wanda, one by Jean, and one by Richelle.

I liked the concept of this book, particularly the part of one quilt that connects three generations of Amish women. I think it was neat that there are three generations writing this book too.

Each of the stories were different, which I enjoyed. I think I prefer Wanda’s full length books better than these short stories. While these stories were nice and short, they didn’t include the depth that I have come to love from Wanda and her books.

These made for a nice Christmas read and I enjoyed the idea of the quilt. I think it was a very unique concept.

Wanda Brunstetter, along with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter, have created a world that spans three generations just as they represent three generations in their own family. The three lovely stories are woven together with an Amish quilt made by Dena Lapp and as she prepares for her impending death, she gives it to Luella. She begs a huge favor of Luella as she lays dying. Luella promises to care for Dena's husband and young son. She does indeed continue to work for Atlee after serving as Dena and her little boy, Daryl's caregivers while Dena needs help in her final days. The verse Dena embroidered on the quilt, For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me. Psalm 31:3, becomes important and encouraging to each of the young women in the three stories, Luella, Karen, and Roseanna.
Readers will enjoy the Christmas themed stories any time of year. Following along with the three generations made me feel quite sentimental and will likely give readers similar feelings. I highly recommend this book.
I rate this book 5 stars.

The Beloved Christmas Quilt by Wanda Brunstetter is a wonderful Christmas book that includes 3 stories. It is a series of stories that follow a special quilt that is being handed down from generation to generation. In keeping with a traditional Brunstetter book, all of them have a sweet element of Amish romance. In them, I saw a picture of new love, giving not selfishly but with others in mind, and sometimes what you think is the answer is not the answer at all.

What a beautiful collection of Amish Christmas Stories. This Christmas book is made up of three stories written by popular Amish author Wanda Brunstetter, her Daughter-in law Jean Brunstetter and first time published author, her granddaughter Richelle Brunstetter. The thing I loved about this book was that the stories are about three generations of women in one family written by three generations of women in one family. Each of the women that these stories are written about, suffers emotional times and heartache that really tugs at the heartstrings. The stories also focus on one beloved, cherished, Christmas quilt with a thought provoking scripture verse embroidered on it, that is passed down to the next generation on or around Christmas.

Finding the person who is right for you to marry is hard enough, but moving away from family or dealing with a child born with a disability can add stress to any relationship. When your parents do not agree with your choice of a spouse in an Amish family usually means the marriage is not going to happen and could result in a lot of unhappiness. The final story deals with being left at the alter and healing enough to love again. A wonderful set of novellas, that I very much enjoyed. The publisher, Shiloh Run Press, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, opinions and ideas are my own.

This in an incredible set of three Amish romances!

I love all of the main characters in this book. Each of the authors wrote one of the stories. All three of them did an amazing job of developing wonderful characters and great relationships between them.

Each story is a separate romance. They are each very different in the difficulties that the couples face. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that they each center on God and trusting Him to carry them through the hard times.

One of my favorite aspects of this collection of stories is that they all have a family heirloom as a common factor between them.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.
