Description

Cliffy is a middle child: a little less loud, a little less messy, and a little less conspicuous than his four siblings. One cold, winter morning, Cliffy doesn’t feel like getting dressed. So he tells his mom it’s jammie day and heads to school in his favorite footy pajamas.

His mom might not have been paying attention. His teacher and his dad are distracted, too. So Cliffy gets away with it for a day… then a week… then a month. The other kids at school catch on quickly and start making every day jammie day, too! This playful read-aloud pokes fun at preoccupied adults and lets the kids win. Adorable, nuanced artwork elevates the story with a true-to-life depiction of family chaos, emotion, and warmth. The illustrations especially show off Cliffy’s jammies, which become more worn, torn, and beloved as the months go by.

Jammies are a favorite in our house. A book about a boy who wants to stay in his jammies each and every day for school is a big crowd pleaser. While I found the story sweet and the illustrations positively delightful in their muted color palette, it made me feel slightly sad to see the middle child be "forgotten" as is regularly depicted. Even if no one seems to be paying attention to him, you still get the sense that all the children are loved in this family of seven.

Jammie Day by Carrie Snyder was a lovely tale of a middle child who knew what he wanted. He used his knowledge of adults not really paying attention to get what he wanted: a jammie day, week, month or even year. He knew the adults in his life weren't really paying attention but the kids all knew what he was up to. The final illustration with the entire family in pajamas was absolutely delightful and fun. This would be a wonderful book to share on a school pajamas day.

I loved the cover of this book, it really drew me in. The images were brilliant throughout the story and can see this one being a firm favourite for young children and their parents - especially kids that are in the middle!

What could be more comfortable than wearing your pajamas all day. Although I never had pajama day when I was in school, when my daughter was in school it was one of the spirit days, along with twins day, and spirit day, and things like that.

Cliffy doesn't want to wait for "Jammie day" to come, and instead decides that since pajamas are so comfortable, that he would just declare it Jammie Day, and no one questions him. Not his teacher, not his parents, and certainly not the other kids, who pick up on that every day is Jammie Day.

Cute picture book where the parents and teachers finally catch on, but don't stop him from wearing pajamas.

This charming book about Cliffy, a middle child, is all about a little boy who is sandwiched between a big brother and sister and a small brother and sister. He is just kind of there and often seems many times to go unnoticed.

One cold winter morning Cliffy decides he won't get dressed but wants to stay in his jammies all day long. He fibs to his mom and tells her it's Jammie Day at school. Distracted by her own thoughts and not delving into the truth of what Cliffy tells her she consents to let him do his thing and wear his jammies. Off he goes to school in his favourite footy pajamas feeling mighty fine and proud of himself.

His dad and even his teacher are unfazed about his strange attire and sneaky Cliffy pulls the wool over their eyes for a day... a week... then a whole month. Oh my this kid is good!!! The adults around him may be fooled but the smart kids at school climb aboard Cliffy's bandwagon and they start parading around at school in their pajamas too. The ending is just perfect and will have you smiling for sure.

This fun read-aloud is great because guess who wins? Not the pre-occupied adults but the kids themselves making this book a huge hit. Yes!!!! The illustrations are spot-on perfect, full of humour, family chaos, and emotion. They showcase how Cliffy's jammies progressively become more tattered and torn ... loved almost threadbare by their happy, contented owner. I highly recommend this book.

Cliffy has the right idea- Why not Jammie Day? Grownups can get awful busy with day-to-day life and as a middle child he realizes that they are not always paying attention. So off he goes to school, in his comfy polka-dot "footie pajamas"! What is not to love! The beautiful illustrations convey a nice calm feeling, even when a situation is the normal topsy-turvy life of a large family. Cliffy continues on in a nice calm convicted manner getting what he wants - Jammie Day!!!

Adorable story about letting a kid be a kid. Beautifully colored illustrations tell the story of Cliffy, who is frequently overlooked as a middle child.

I loved the idea of this book. Cliffy is the middle child of five siblings and he seems to be overlooked at times. He is not ignored, just not always in the limelight. When he decides he wants to wear his Jammies to school one day, his mother lets him. He tells her it is Jammie day. When his teacher wonders about what he is wearing, he tells her it is Jammie day. Next thing you know it is weeks, months and many of the kids in the class are wearing their Jammies. As I type this review, I am wearing my Jammies. This is a cute book where the large family can be chaotic and busy as shown in the illustrations and the parents sometimes not completely paying attention to what is going on. It is just a funny story as we see the parents wearing their jammies by the end. I did not see where Cliffy was really ignored or hard done by being the middle child so did not worry about that aspect, I just thought it was any large group whether it was a family or a classroom. The illustrations were adorable. They were done in a muted pastel type colour to show the whimsical aspect of the book. I loved watching Cliffy's jammies degrade as the story went on. A cute book for a family library. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

I love that there is a book written for the middle child, and I love that it's about pajamas. How fun! The unnoticed middle child creates a quiet movement of jammie days for a week... a month... a year - at school! When my kiddos were little, we also had a pajama day now and then, but we stayed home on that day. The soft illustrations match the tone of this story perfectly.

Adorable! This story will ring true for so many families!! The illustrations are a perfect companion to the text, leaving the reader giggling and shouting for their own 'Jammie Day!' A fun read aloud for school librarians and teachers, especially on those precious pajama dress-up days. A strong choice for your library's picture book collection.

This story is adorable. The middle of 5 children, Cliffy is often looked over. And not just by his family, but by his teacher as well. It’s how he convinces them it’s Jammie Day at school. But the other kids notice too, and they all have a jammie day, for the next few day.

I loved this little cheeky book! The colors and pictures are wonderful and engaging. A child of toddler to older child would love this book. Cliffy (child in the book) has two older sibling and two younger sibilings. He decides one day is pajammie day, then a whole week, then a whole month, and finally a whole year.. He believes no one is paying attention to what he wears etc, not his parents or teacher. It is an all around great book.

Middle kids! This book was written for you. Nobody pays much attention to Cliffy, the middle child of five, but he knows what he likes. He announces to the world it is Jammie Day and because all the characters know they really haven't been paying attention to him, let him go to school in pajamas. The illustrations are well done and the book is fun for kids who will love it that Cliffy gets away with Jammie Day, Week and even month. I also like that the publisher took the extra steps to show grade range and where it falls in Common Core.

This is a very cute book. A middle child gets his chance to convince everyone that it is Jammie Day, then Week, then Month, then Year. The story is a bit unbelievable, but that is part of its charm. I believe that parents and teachers are more observant than those in this book, and pay attention to all children. I enjoyed the expressive and uncomplicated illustrations.

Never judge a book by its cover. That's what they say. However, I do. If I see a cute book cover, I will read the book. If I hate a book cover I won't even give it a chance. I kow this is wrong, especially considering I work in a library...but I ramble. I LOVED this book cover!

What an adorable book. This would be the perfect book to read to students on pajama day at school! Who doesn't like to be in their jammies all day. I love being in my jammies all day.

The illustrations are wonderful, soft and I laughed when I saw some of them.

4 stars.
This was so adorable and it made me laugh. The idea of a jammie day! Now who hasnt wished that they could just call a work day or school day a jammie day. I know I'd rather be wearing mine more often than not. It was totally cute and such a FUN read! Little kids will love this! The images are splended and I love the choice of the colours that were used. Im adding this to my 'need to buy when released' list.

Well done to Carrie Snyder for the story and to Brooke Kerrigan for the wonderful illustrations.

This is an adorable little story about a middle child. He decides he wants to wear his jammies to school so he tells his mom it's Jammie Day. How long can he keep slipping it by his parents and the teacher? I think any middle child can relate to feeling over looked sometimes. I think most kids have at least one point in their lives where they feel their parents didn't really notice or pay as much attention to them as they could have. This story shows how they can be creative and have fun.

Can I have Jammie Day every day? This was a great read for my little 5 year old girl. She has jammie day at school so it was totally relatable. PJ day at school is always exciting for the kiddos. Jammie Day was very cute and the illustrations were lovely. 5 stars.
