Description

Bridget Boggs carries a lot of guilt over what happened to Alex Ross and his family. She had been good friends with the Ross boys until her greedy father lost part of the Ross family’s savings in a pyramid scheme. He went to jail, and Bridget and her family changed their names and went into hiding.

Bridget imagines that Alex and his brothers feel just as betrayed as she does by her father’s criminal acts. When she meets Alex again as a young hacker and the owner of a White Hat Security, he has something more important to talk about than her father’s transgressions. A million dollars has been stolen from his company, and Alex needs Bridget’s help to track down the culprit.

Alex has certainly grown up since they last met. The man looks like a Greek god, and Bridget can’t help but be attracted to him. As she digs deeper into the theft from Ross Enterprises, Bridget doesn’t need any more distractions. This is a more dangerous job than either Bridget or Alex expected. The thief is willing to go to incredible lengths to evade the police, and the two amateur sleuths may find themselves caught in the crossfire.

Bridget Boggs carries a lot of guilt over what happened to Alex Ross and his family. She had been good friends with the Ross boys until her greedy father lost part of the Ross family’s savings...

I loved this short story. Bridget is the owner of White Hat Security and is a top grade hacker and has been for years. She learned how after her father was sent to jail for embezzlement and she had too change the names of her mother, sister's and herself so they could disappear and start a new life. When a large sum of money disappears from one of Alex Ross' projects in his family business his father asks Bridget to find the thief, Alex is in agreement and is stunned when he learns that "Bridget" is an old family friend, Claire and he had secretly lusted over her.
A nice romance, drama and a little added matchmaking to complete a very entertaining
book. I highly recommend it.

There were parts were the writing was stilted and didn't really flow well but all in all a good read.

What can I say this book was one of the best suspense romance thriller books so far. Alex having someone take a large amount of money from his company and parents wanting grandkids turned into something great. Bridget had a rough childhood from age 10 till now but was surprised when she started working with Alex.

First let me say that this quick little novella has lots of humor. The pacing was perfect for this length of book and other than relaxing the formality of the dialogue some, the writing was very nice. It had the potential to be a much sturdier read but wasn’t able to follow through. While the secondary characters are fun and quirky, I was unable to connect fully with Alex and Bridget. This is mainly due to the fact that the author had too much going on in such a short book. There was no build up to the mystery and definitely no build up to the relationship between the hero and heroine. However, I believe this is her first endeavor and I feel certain that her work will improve with each following book.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fast paced and I loved all of the different characters in the story. Can't wait for the next one.

Meh. I'm having mixed feeling here.

I like the story line.. it was entertaining. I really enjoyed Bridget's characters she's a feisty little pocket rocket whom had me chuckling a fair few times. Alex was ok but I found some of the things that come out of his mouth had me eye rolling and cringing. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and whole reuniting old friends thing this story had going on... even with its unique twist.
I must say the sex was a little cringeworthy and I wasn't all that connected to romance side of the story but it wasn't that bad because it's a short story.
I can't say it's my favourite story ever but it wasn't the worst... for me it just sits in the middle of ok. I'd definitely read more from this author and this series as I think it has good potential.

I kindly received this ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I found this a very great read but found it to be to short. I really enjoyed the story and wished it was longer

Hacker Exposed is too short to allow the characters to develop in any significant way and the whole thing felt rushed.

Bridget is the owner of an IT firm who's contacted by an old friend, actually the man who put her father in prison, to ask if she'll meet with his son, Alex, and help his company find out who has embezzled a million dollars from them. Bridget is really apprehensive because as she was growing up, not only was she really close to Alex's twin brothers, and has kept one of the twin's secrets, but she always had a crush on Alex. And then there's the fact that Bridget, her mom and her sister all have new identities and no one should have been able to find them.

But one minute she's meeting Alex again, the next they're in bed and rushing toward an HEA. It was so rushed that I had no time to form any connection to anyone. I liked what I saw of Bridget, her employees CJ, Patty and Sophie, but Alex wasn't fleshed out well and was a little bland. His brother Asher was interesting, though, and I'd love to read a book about him. Unfortunately, the dialogue between, well, everyone was disjointed and stilted, and more than a little cheesy. It did't flow at all, and felt forced and unnatural. Don't even get me started on the sex scenes, they were boring and with that same disjointed dialogue, I couldn't get into them at all.

The suspense portion about who embezzled the money was rushed and wrapped up so quickly it was almost negligible to the plot. It should have served as the backbone of the entire book, but it wasn't given enough detail to make it significant. Neither of the villains as it were, were given a motivation or enough backstory about them, that their actions seemed ridiculous and just plain weird. They weren't interesting enough to be considered psychos, nor were they given enough detail that they could be anti heroes. They were just there as the token villains in the suspense part of this romantic suspense.

So why the 3 stars instead of 2? Well, as I said, I liked Bridget and her employees and Asher. They were interesting enough that I would look forward to books about any of them. If Hacker Exposed had just been given a thorough editing, I think the story could have been more fleshed out and detailed, and the dialogue tightened up made to be more natural. Hopefully any future books in this series will be given a professional, thorough editing.

Good quick read. Interesting plot, would have loved for this to have been a full length novel to fully develop the plot and ideas Baxter had. Alex and Bridget were a cute couple. Enjoyed the reunited former family friends plot line.

This was a quick read for me and I really wish it was longer. I did enjoy the secondary characters more than I did th main characters. This book is good with th writing and the pace is very nice. I do wish there was more time spent letting things build up between teh characters. I felt that although the writing is good, it was a little rushed. It couldve been made into a longer book and more time spent building everything up & it would have r3eally WOWed me!

Hacker by author Linzi Baxter is the first book in the White Hat Security series. I love this start. This is a solid book. I loved the characters, they have a great arc and lots of growth in this story. I also liked the pace of this book. Has the perfect pace not too fast or slow. This is one I didn’t want to end. I am so glad it is a series I so want more!!
Bridget is the owner of White Hate Security. She is a top-grade hacker. I loved that about her. I love a smart strong woman as a heroine. She has a great balance to her. Very likeable.
Alex has a large sum of money disappear from his family. He suspects Bridgette. I like him a lot he has a charm that just jumps off the page.
Over all I really enjoyed this book I really wanted to read more!! That would be my only complaint per say I never wanted this book to end. I am so looking forward to more in the future.

The story has a mysterious tone to it, it tells you just enough to know and understand the plot but it leaves you with lots of questions that you just want to keep reading to fit the pieces together, with awesome plot twists and a great cliffhanger.

The only problem I encountered was that this book was too short for all the content it was trying to deliver, so waiting for book two of this series to see how it progresses.
