This is such a beautiful book. The illustrations are wonderful and the writing poetic. It teaches us that when you give your heart you can grow anything. It's a book I will read again and again. Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for giving me a free copy of this wonderful book in exchange for an honest review. |

I am enchanted by this picture book. The poetic tale is beautiful. The words on the pages are surround by captivating images that signify a nurturing assurance 'when you give love you can grow anything' and 'you are never alone'. All the while depicting, being patient and opening ones heart, to the inevitable cycle of life and loss. |

I Give You My Heart is seriously one of those books you find hard to describe. In such less words and enigmatic illustrations, comes forth a soul-stirring fable. It's beautiful and made me wonder how many of us fail to learn the most important lesson in life - follow your heart! To be honest, the narrative made me think of the time when I read The Little Prince. I'm not comparing these two stories, but they have something in common. The prose of I Give You My Heart does have a certain level of sadness to it because the writing made me think how soon my son will grow up. Seeing Yuto move through the phases of his life and learning from his experiences is charismatic. Every word and device used in writing is symbolic and you have to dig deeper and think "Why was this added here? What does this signify?" I did stare at the illustrations with awe, trying to relate them to words and believe me, this book will make you dive deeper into your conscience. |

This is a beautiful picture book with many wonderful messages. It could become one of those books you go back to over and over as well as sharing with others. Books like The Giving Tree, Love You Forever, The Magic Paintbrush etc. Patience, love, beauty of the world and nature, traditions, sharing and so many more things are touched on. This is not a story I would read to young children, it seems to be more appropriate for junior ages (9 to 12). Every reader would take their own message from this book. A wonderful addition to school, public and family libraries. |
