Yay! Another good book from Margaret Hillert! I can see this one being especially useful. Sharing can be hard for kids, and not lying about having homework is really popular. I like the simple way that she shows what you should do instead.

The Dear Dragon series is made up of several books that are easy readers. They use site vocabulary that is printed in the back of the book. This book is written with 74 words that are printed in the back. It reminds me of the books I learned to read with.

In this book, Dear Dragon and his boy are sad a lot. They realize they need to make better choices and cheer up as the book progresses. This book presented a situation that all children go through in a way that made it seem normal. The boy and his dragon were able to solve the problem and become happy before the end of the book. All this is told in simple, repetitive, easy vocabulary. These Beginning-to-Read books capture the imaginations of beginning readers and help them on their way to independent reading. They could also be read aloud to young children who are not able to read yet. The back of the book has several suggested activities that can be used for reading reinforcement. A great addition to a family library or a primary classroom.

The boy and his pet dragon realize that they are not making good choices throughout the book and these choices make them sad. After pondering on what they have done, they decide to make better choices so they are no longer sad. Wonderful colored pictures with great vocabulary words make this a great book for preschoolers on up.
