The art for this book is really nicely done. I love the amounts of detail shown on each piece, especially when you get town scenery, lots of people and creatures in one page, and more. It was really cool to see it.
The story is aimed for kids who are a bit older than preschool, but I read it to my toddler and he thought it was really nice. He enjoyed listening, pointed to the pictures and told me what he liked in it, listened to what I had to say and repeated different words I'd say. Of course he doesn't really understand it. Older kids will a bit more.
It seems like this story takes place in the North Pole and is themed around Santa (which we teach our kids the truth about, but I explain that fantasy about the story like I do Narnia or Mickey Mouse). Everyone seems to be getting ready for Christmas, but there is one little girl named Yuka who has been looking forward to something else: snow! It's been too warm and she is a bit down about that but hopeful. When it finally seems a bit colder outside and looks like possible snowfall, she goes outside in the village and waits. Loads of people and creatures wait with her but some don't wait as long as she does. It was cute. I can see this being something a lot of kids would love to have read to them every wintertime or Christmastime.
