This book is a brilliant idea for youngsters, and covers many different seemingly basic concepts about money, which aren't traditionally taught about in school. It's a great way to encourage good money-management habits and answer those questions that sometimes we're too embarrassed to ask, such as 'what's a debit card?' because they seem so simple. The text for each heading is succinct and worded in easy-to-read way, and the illustrations and fun and complement the concepts well. A definite 5-star read.

With humorous illustrations that enhance the concepts taught, this book covers financial terminology from income to taxes to interest. Talking about money with kids and giving them responsibility relative to their age is a good way to encourage healthy financial habits. The descriptions for each term are in easy to understand language that is accessible to the young reader. This book would be well utilized if parents engage in discussions about money as a result of introducing the concepts.

Money was another No-nonsense Guide that would make an excellent addition to any home or classroom library. As I previewed, my own children enjoyed the facts both past and present about money and bartering. This was a book that could have gone many different directions and not really been succinct, but Fiedler did a wonderful job of giving the book focus and flow. A few small things I noticed and appreciated included that the debt page has a red background which I felt sent a clear and necessary message without being explicit with words. I also loved the closing page where the author said something like, "Now that you know all about money, don't forget that it is not what makes you happy or rich. I have loved all of the No-Nonsense Guides and this was no different.

5 stars.
What an EXCELLENT book for children about Money! This clear, easy to read and understand book is a must for all children. Since we all deal with money, all over the world, every child should read this to get an understanding of what money is and what all the terms are that comes with money. It tells the difference between money currencies, between credit cards and debits cards. It teaches about why money is used and the history of it. Along with a whole not of more useful information. The illustrations are really good, simple but really well done. I laughed when I read the word, 'zilch-ionaire'! As this is exactly what I, and many other, are. This is a very good educational book, and a very important one too. I highly recommend this and I even say every child needs to read this if they dont already have an understanding, and even if they do, there will probably be something in here that they will learn. Even I learnt something and im 32!

Very VERY good book!

This is an excellent introduction to money for the elementary school crowd. (Honestly, it could have also helped the clueless rich kids I met at college!) It's very detailed, but not overwhelming, and imparts practical wisdom to kids who may be getting some small income from babysitting, allowances, etc.

This guide to money for children aged 8 – 12 answers questions that aren’t typically addressed in school and which parents may struggle to answer coherently. With sections on earning, saving, spending and borrowing, it describes the difference between a debit card and a credit card, explains what taxes are and gives the lowdown on Bitcoin and crowdfunding. Fun, humorous illustrations keep it light – I particularly loved the pig bankers!

The sections on why saving is as important as spending and the difference between needs and wants could be particularly useful for any children starting to manage their own money. Other elements of the book – such as the page on stocks and bonds – feel less directly helpful for a child and aren’t explained as fully as they might need to be. However, with an adult on hand to answer further questions, this remains a very good introduction to what money is and what managing it looks like in the real world.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Too freaking cute! I loved the approachability of this book, but it also goes surprisingly in-depth, even explaining topics like currency exchange rates and lines of credit. Despite how much it describes, it's a fun and playful read with adorable artwork and would be great for teaching any kid about money!

This is a fairly up-to-the-minute guide aimed at middle readers about money and currency and how we use (and potentially misuse) it. The book clearly and humorously explains concepts from debit cards to currency exchanges.

The book is broken up into chapters: What is Money, Earning, Saving, Spending and Borrowing. Each of the chapters contain full page illustrations, some with sidebars, covering such essentials as 'Needs vs. Wants' and setting financial goals.

Quite a lot of the information contained here isn't regularly taught in schools and is really important for life skills mastery. It would make a great addition to a school or classroom library as well.

This book is the third in the 'Know-Nonsense' guide series, following Know-Nonsense Guide to Measurements, and The Know-Nonsense Guide to Grammar. Author Heidi Fiedler includes quite a number of subtle philosophical points in the text in an easy to digest (non-preachy) manner. The art by Brendan Kearney is quirky, colorful, and fun and supports and illustrates the text very well.

Quite a fun and accessible introduction to money and its potential effects on our lives.

Four stars.

This is a current telling of money today. Not just about coins and dollars, but also about crowdfunding and bitcoins. I would recommend this to teachers for up to date information on money and how we use it today.

Do you know your bitcoins? If your child (or a total newbie to money) asks to define what earning power means or how/why we need to budget, then this book will help! It explores money in five sections: What is Money?, Earning, Saving, Spending, and Borrowing. A perfect introduction to the complex world of finance for anyone, and for teaching how to use money responsibly for the young ones!
